WIP Spanish translation

Here. Don't forget to check it for typos I may have made.



I already checked it and did not detect any typo, except for small errata in 5 words that I corrected. I appreciate your kindness and support in these translations. Hopefully you continue with your own translation projects in other games, which also deserve your work. Thanks to your work, we, "we who have no idea of the English language" can venture to play them.

Thank you for keepeing the project alive. I poured many hours into it back in the day, and I wouldn't want all that effort to go to waste, so it's a relief to see someone else pick up the torch, and I'll do my best to help see the the project through.
 
It is that in the story of Jack Sparrow, especially in the archive of blaze_dialog.h, it reminds me of the original story of the Nathaniel Hawk game
The file was probably copied from the original, then modified for the "Jack Sparrow" storyline.

"blaze_dialog.h" is used for when you talk to yourself. For example, if you are going to rescue the daughter of Toff Oremans, you talk to yourself when you go to the port:
So? Now I can find that Spanish corsair who supposedly kidnapped the girl.

Some lines are for sidequests and will be slightly different in the "Jack Sparrow" version because the storyline has its own versions of some sidequests. Instead of rescuing the daughter of Toff Oremans, you rescue the brother of an assistant to Sri Sumbhajee:
So? Now I can find that Spanish corsair who supposedly kidnapped the brother.

As @The Nameless Pirate says, they can serve as a guideline for Tales of a Sea Hawk, for some sidequests, and also for quests in other sorylines that are based on those, but even in Tales of Sea Hawk, which is the closest to the original because it is the original story, there are many little differences added by the mod, like new preprocessors to accomodate female player characters and things like that.
That was my work. The authors of the original game planned to allow you to choose to play as Nathaniel or Danielle. If you chose Danielle, you would get a different version of the story. This was never completed and only some of the dialog for Danielle gives hints about that version. In particular, "blaze_dialog.h" contains a lot of lines which are never used because they would have been for when you play as Danielle and you talk to Nathaniel.

I did not want to try to reconstruct the whole alternative Danielle story from those dialog fragments. Instead, to make things slightly different for anyone who chooses to play a female character, I arranged that you play the same story as normal except that you meet Nathaniel instead of Danielle. I have translation problems with the last 5 lines of the Cap'Drow file. I don't find much meaning in Spanish:

"This bit of junk is one of nine pieces of eight! With it you will become the pirate lord of the Alantic ocean. We are to honour the call, if this happens you will need to sail to Shipwreck cove!",
"I'm indeed very interested. Is there anything I can give in return.",
"[THINKS: Maybe I can take something as payment while I show him where Shipwreck Cove is] Just honour the call, savvy? Here is where Shipwreck Cove is located",
"Welcome back, Mr Sparrow. What can I do for you?",
"CAPTAIN Sparrow. I was hoping to bestow a great honour upon you, Cap'n Drow. If you would be willing to do what it takes to earn said honour, that is

With the penultimate there is no problem
 
Piece of eight: otherwise known as Spanish dollar, or in Spanish, real de a ocho. In "Pirates of the Caribbean: At the World's End", nine Pirate Lords each had one of nine "pieces of eight", which were not coins but were tokens of various types. If you owned one of these pieces then you were one of the nine Pirate Lords. Shortly before he died, Sao Feng gave his piece to Elizabeth Swann, making her the Pirate Lord of Singapore.

In the storyline, you have killed one of the Pirate Lords and taken his piece of eight. You are now giving it to Cap'n Drow. This makes him a Pirate Lord.

There may be a call for all Pirate Lords to meet. If so, they must meet at Shipwreck Cove, which is a place.

What do I do with those "X"?
 
As I said at the time, I have the original game with the official Spanish translation of the general dialogues of the game itself, but I just checked that I do not have the dialog folder in English.

Could someone provide me with the English dialog folder? I insist, it would only be from the original game.

I need gain time in the translation of Jack Sparrow, if possible.
 
In the file of Couch Captain Charles I find this line:

Looking at the code, I can't see where that line will appear during the game, so it probably does not matter what you put there. There are different ways to play through the "Jack Sparrow" storyline. Depending on what you do, you might not even meet Couch Captain Charles. If you do, and if he says that line, you may be able to work out what "XXXXXXXXXXX" should be. Otherwise, it looks as though it's someone's name, so leave it as "XXXXXXXXXXX".

My guess is that it is a placeholder. The writer put it there and would have replaced it with a real name when he decided whose name it should be. If he never used that piece of dialog then no name was ever chosen to replace "XXXXXXXXXXX".

I also have the Spanish version of the original game so can't help you there, but I personally think you'd be better off forgetting about the original game files (axcept perhaps for Tales of a Sea Hawk, and then you can use that for the other quests that are modelled after that storyline). I reckon it could take longer to ascertain what you can or cannot salvage from them than to just translate the modded files from scratch.
