Need Help Updating the Russian Translation

Lines 1558-1597 are for the "Woodes Rogers" storyline, in which you can learn various abilities as part of the story. "Expert Marksman" is not one which you can learn there. You can gain it the normal way, by using Ability points. Therefore "Expert Marksman" does not need to be included in "interface_strings.txt". Other perks may also be missing from this part of "interface_strings.txt".

"AbilityDescribe.txt" is the text you will see in the "Abilities" interface. This is the one which must contain all perks.

AbilityDescribe.txt file uploaded
In the Russian version, all the icons were mixed in the description, because there were not enough skills 173, 180, 186, 193 lines.
Functions before brackets 92, 150, 156, 166 have also been fixed
Lines 79, 83 in the English version have different meanings
At the moment everything is working!
You also asked if I could translate line 2118 into interface_strings.txt . It is translated, but it would be correct if I knew what kind of instrument it was. By reading the passage, I realized that this moment takes place on the 10th quest in the galleon. Proceed accordingly far...
But in general, at the moment interface_strings.txt is quite playable.
I'm wondering why you decided to replace the icons on these skills, because in the original version they are different and more appropriate in meaning. (150, 156, 166 lines)

In "interface_strings.txt", why have you put speech marks round the directions?

I do not know exactly what sort of pole has to be moved on line 2118. And the player is not supposed to know what tool to use at this time, only that he must find something.

In "AbilityDescribe.txt", lines 79 and 83: looking at the code which uses "Professional Gunman", line 79 is correct. The English and Spanish versions will need to be corrected to make "perkGunProfessional" and "perkGunProfessionalLocked" match. I've also corrected the figures to match what is in the code. This is what will be in the English version:
Code:
Gunman    {Gunman}
perkGunman
{
The character handles a pistol better - reloading is 10% faster, accuracy is increased by 5% and chance of scoring a critical hit is increased by 5%. The character can use dual-barrel pistol and all brace pistol sets.
}

ImproveAiming    {Expert Marksman}
perkImproveAiming
{
The character is an expert marksman which increases accuracy by 20% and chance of scoring a critical hit by 15%. Press Tab to aim manually using first person mode.
}
perkImproveAimingLocked
{
Complete a fetchquest for a gunsmith | The character is an expert marksman which increases accuracy by 20% and chance of scoring a critical hit by 15%. Press Tab to aim manually using first person mode.
}

GunProfessional    {Professional Gunman}
perkGunProfessional
{
The character is a pistol professional - reloading is 50% faster, accuracy is increased by an additional 10% and chance of scoring a critical hit is increased by 10%. The character can use a quad-barrel pistol.
}
perkGunProfessionalLocked
{
Find a book to unlock | The character is a pistol professional - reloading is 50% faster, accuracy is increased by an additional 10% and chance of scoring a critical hit is increased by 10%. The character can use a quad-barrel pistol.
}

The original ship defence abilities were "Basic Ship Defence", "Advanced Ship Defence" and "Professional Ship Defence". The first two were provided by both carpenters and surgeons; "Professional Ship Defence" was only provided by surgeons. This was unrealistic. They were renamed "Basic Damage Control", Advanced Damage Control" and "Professional Damage Control", all provided by the carpenter. The surgeon got new perks "Basic First Aid" and "Improved First Aid" which help crew to survive in battle. New icons were designed by one of our modders to reflect the new abilities. The carpenter does not put big panels up to deflect cannonballs; he uses tools and planks to quickly patch up damage immediately after a hit. The surgeon puts some bandages and disinfectant onto wounds so that injured crew do not bleed to death or become infected, then they can go back to work.

It was made for a good look

Corrected

I understood that the names are no longer Basic Defense, etc., but Basic Damage Control. Is it possible for me to change the names in the skills, the interface, and on the items?

You may need to correct "Professional Gunman" again. While you were typing your reply, I was editing mine. I've changed the numbers to match what is in the code.

Changing "AbilityDescribe.txt" should change the names of the "Damage Control" abilities in the interface. The only item I can see which refers to these abilities is "skillbook3". Its entry in "ItemsDescribe.txt" will need to change.

Those lines already say "Damage Control" and are correct. If you have translated them as "Damage Control" then the translation is also correct.

I have a question where to find the translation under the icon, I translated commands_name.txt and now I need to edit it all?

Have a look at this:
Tutorial - Modding Tips & Tricks

In particular, part 3, "Add your PotC folder to the Windows Search Index". You can then type a word or phrase into the Windows search box. Windows will find any file which contains the phrase. It may find several files, but you may then be able to guess which one you want.

Hello, I need clarification about the new features in SettingsDescribe.txt . The Russian version did not have lines 110-134 and 291-302

110-122: this is a new feature. Some people wanted Sweden to exist in the game. Historically Sweden was a major European power during the 17th and 18th centuries but was not involved in the Caribbean. So Sweden is not shown in the game unless this setting is changed.

123-135: Originally forts would remember which flag you were flying even if they were friendly. International relations can change randomly in FreePlay. Normally Britain and Portugal are allied. So you might sail into a Portuguese port flying a British flag because Portugal likes Britain. Later, Portugal and Britain might break their alliance and be at war. You would then approach the Portuguese port flying a Portuguese flag, the fort would remember you as British, and would attack.

This setting makes forts ignore you if you are friendly. You sail into the Portuguese port under a British flag because Portugal likes Britain. Later, Portugal and Britain might break their alliance and be at war. You approach the Portuguese port flying a Portuguese flag, the fort does not remember you as British and does not attack you.

291-302: someone thought it would be a good idea if, when you want to persuade someone to do something, the dialog would have a tag showing that a check was being made against your ability, and changed a lot of dialogs to do this. Others thought that it would spoil the dialog. This setting allows the tag to appear. One example is when you are smuggling. With this setting enabled, when you talk to a guard in a tavern to try to persuade him to tell you when the beach is safe, you will see "[Persuasion Success!]" or "[Persuasion Failure!]" as part of his dialog. "[Persuasion Success!]" and "[Persuasion Failure!]" are translated in "common.ini" - look at the end of the file.

"common.ini" also has some new lines which need to be translated. English now has line 428:
Code:
string = LuggerP,"Privateer Lugger"
And line 849:
Code:
string = Nuestra Señora de las Nieves,"Nuestra Señora de las Nieves"

That line 849 is because of something odd in the translation procedure. Island names seem to be translated twice in some places - that is, the game tries to translate the name, then translate the translated name. I never did find out why, but it means you probably won't see any island names in ship berthing. Here's my thread about it:
Unconfirmed Bug - Some island names do not appear in Ship Berthing

"common.ini"
Yes, I am gradually editing this file, it has a lot of related lines with other files.
110-122; 123-135; 291-302
Thank you all translated, now I'll look at the rest of the lines.

When I watched the work of the sails, I noticed such an interesting thing.
There was such a situation - I knocked out a gun. Wrote that they had lost the starboard side! The word board was written 2 times! By searching through the files, I figured out that this is in common.ini (lines 1779-1783). in lines 1780 and 1781 there is the word board, which most likely should not be.

That's not true.

1638 - 1655: Nova Suecia at the Delaware river
1784–1878: Saint-Barthélemy
(1813–1814: Guadeloupe)

These colonies really were not much but they existed. (for a while)

Line 1879 is "arc". Lines 1880-1883 are the four directions. The code wants to say "We lost a cannon! From the ", then the direction, then "arc". For example, "We lost a cannon! From the starboard arc!" Russian "common.ini" has the same word at the end of the translations for "starboard" and "port", and also as the translation for "arc".

How would you translate "port arc", "starboard arc", "bow arc" and "stern arc"? If Russian needs to put "arc" in front of the direction, that can easily be arranged.

Nothing needs to be changed, there was a problem with the old translation
