Pre Build 13 Modpack

The fixed update is currently being uploaded. I don't know how many bugs it'll fix, but it will fix a few. I hope that the frequent CTDs in interface screens are included. I tested it very quickly and it seemed to work. I am now reinstalling completely again, after which I will be doing some more testing.

The stormy start on the new islands have been included and the Rapid Raid mod should have been fixed now. I also fixed the bladedamage mod a bit and made it so that blocking has an impact on the bladedamage as well. It still neads tweaking, but it's getting somewhere. Also: I coded some stuff so that you should never ever see anybody having their fists in an interface screen, apart from the player character. The invisible guns should also have been fixed.

The new update is available from <a href="http://pieter.piratesahoy.org/downloads/post_b12_full_upd_25-3-06.zip" target="_blank">here</a> (35 MB). I sincerely hope this version fixes the bugs that shouldn't have been in the previous update in the first place. I checked all the code and changed everything I thought was incorrect. I briefly tested it and it seemed to work smoothly. I hope it also works smoothly when testing a bit longer. A few new things have been added, but mostly this version just contains bugfixes. With a bit of luck, it will now also be possible to enter Marigot.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" /> Pieter,

Thanks! I will start testing today. Here is hoping! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

BTW: If you encounter CTDs in interface screens still, please tell what ship you were using at the time. I still have a strange feeling that it might've had to do with the ship you're sailing, which would mean I messed up the ships_init.c entries.

There's at least one bug I just found and fixed:
PROGRAM\INTERFACE\itemsbox.c line 41 should read "HasFists = true;}" instead of "bool HasFists = true;}". <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops3.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops2" border="0" alt="oops3.gif" />

Will do.

I assume that this update goes on top of the March 5 or 18 whatever we are playing?

BLAST! This isn't working. Please DON'T use the INTERFACE\itemsbox.c file from this version. It doesn't work. If you already installed it, put the itemsbox.c file from a previous version on top.

This file will work on both the 5 March or 18 March version. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Request to modders: CCC, Maximus, anyone! Please check my modified itemsbox.c file and see why it doesn't work. Whatever I do, it won't work. The idea is that if a character has fists, they will be removed when you open the interface and will be returned when you close the interface. Effect: You won't see the character having fists in the interface. But it AIN'T WORKING! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Peiter,

I have been testing throgh stromy start for about an hour and I am happy to report that the problems with the interface seem to have been fixed. The game is playing at least as well as the 5/3 version I was using. One thing I have noticed is that the double deduction of gold from the surrendered Captain's coffers appears to be fixe. I will test more extensively later this weekend, but in the meantime,

Greee <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wavarr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":warr" border="0" alt="wavarr.gif" /> aaaaat Job.

nvm, somethings up with my comp, i cant open any zips normally, i can only use a application like winrar, (i use XP)

High end computer giving you trouble? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Bug Report:

Minor

1. The people in houses don't ry to run if their blades break.

2. If you go to the cabin during a storm, and come back to the deck the storm still rages (music and ship damage but the sea is smooth as glass.

3. On Antigua, Francois DeVigney can't load his dialogue.

5. The rapid raid doesn't seem to be working well. If you press 9 you get one or two poorly armed guys who look like Hawk. Also the script says "French Musketeer".

Major the game worked great until I sailed to QC and bought a White Waller Frigate. I went to sea and took for ships and game home to QC and got CTD/runtime error in both store and shipyard when I tried to leave after doing business. Going back and swapping ships on land before going in didn't help. Going to see and sinking the ship didn't help and no error log was generated.

No, crappy microsoft junk giving me trouble.

The C++ crashes seem to have ended now. allthou i do experience quite a bit of CTD's when i have crewmen acompaning me especially after a while into the fight, but only when its like 8 or so men i have with.

More News from QC,

A couple more minor bugs have surfaced.

1. I hired an officer in the tavern and he looked like the young professor. On the passenger interface he had a different image and he completely disapperaed from my company. His icon appeared on the game screen and the passenger interface, but he wasn't really there.

2. Twice after a fight when one of the opponents blade broke, Hawk started running after all enemies had been killed and I couldn't control him. My guess is something new run away?

Finally the big news, is I reverted to an earlier save went to QC and did not buy the White Waller Frigate and things worked well for about an hour. Suggessting that there is probably something wrong with that ship at least.

Then when leaving QC on the map I got the runtime CTD, restarted, loaded a good save and got the runtime CTD in the shipyard again. I don't know what to think now, although I am going to avoid that ship.
Again no error logs were generated. I could send you a couple of saves if you like.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Not to beat a dead horse, but I have found some of the same issues Jason has already mentioned. Agree the White Waller Frigate may be the problem. Having the same problem with no error log being created as Jason. Don't understand that at all. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Last thought before packing it in. On the no error log, this may not make any sense as I am not that computer smart, but could it be no error log is being created because the game is seeing no errors. In other words the game is responding as it should by the modifications that have been made to it. Just a sleepy thought.

I know; That's my fault. I changed itemsbox.c, but it didn't work and caused this problem. Just use the itemsbox.c file from the previous version until I uploaded a fixed version. Sorry for this. <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
That means they do try to run every now and then? That means at least on modification worked. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />
I added a 50% chance that people run when their blade breaks, so it could be that they don't try to run just because of this chance. However, I don't think they should try to run. Where could they run in a house? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Anyway: He indeed doesn't have his dialog, because nobody made a dialog. Sounds as something is specifically wrong with the White Waller Frigate then. I'll redo all new ships' init_ships.c entries, so that they should be better next time. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Had you given that officer any armor? I think I noticed that bug as well, but it only happened if the character has any armor. It happened with one of the Stephan Maturin-esque Naturalist skins, didn't it? I think that gets caused because their filenames end in "_a", so the game thinks there is any armor there, but there isn't. I should change those filenames. I reckon that'll fix it.

Sounds as if the main character is set to "no group" instead of the other character being set to "no group". I thought I put a check on this, so it can't happen to the main character, but apparently it doesn't work. I'll check the code. Could you tell me if you were attacking the opponent or if the opponent was attacking you at the moment? And was or wasn't he blocking at the time? That'll give me a clue where to look.
BTW: Do you reckon blade breaking happens frequently enough, too frequently or not frequently enough?

I am going to try and fix the "losing control of the main character" and "White Waller Frigate" bugs. And I'll take out the new itemsbox.c file as well. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

I have observed that this ship has both refShip.Type.Trade and refShip.Type.War set to true. I'm not sure if that might cause a crash, however someone experienced with adding ships would check this. I think refShip.Type.Trade should be true and refShip.Type.War - false.
