Pre Build 13 Modpack

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Pieter,

My first bug report the last update.

1. No Rapid Raids, I hit the nine key, get the music and a message "No raids on the high seas or during boarding, mate. On the boat, hit the nine and nothing happens.

2. CDTs after buying personal items or trying to fix things in gunsmith shop.

3. Braces of pistols cannot be seen on the characters. I bought a brace of fine large pistols and while I can fire it it doesn't show up on my hip or my officers or in our hands. I don't know if this applies to all braces, and the musketoons or muskets, or just the large pistols.

Finally, screeen transitions and loads are now extremely slow. I remember at some point build 12, or maybe 11 we had this problem and the great and lamented NK did some thing to fix (accelerate it).

Anyway, we appreciate all you do for our enjoyment.

<i>- Can you get into Marigot?</i> When I tried yesterday, my game crashed.
<i>- What character models are outside the Saint Martin towns?</i> I have a few French and Dutch soldiers, but mostly pirates and even skeletons in broad daylight.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
"Pirates" in front of the towns are supposed to be irregulars, French "Franctireurs" or Dutch "Geuzen"(correct term?) Actually that is an unwanted sideeffect, but does no harm. I set those locations to "dungeon" type to create some eerie killing fields atmosphere and because that's FAIK the only locationtype where no frieldly civilians are being generated. And the random NPC generation can't be switched off there cause then the soldiers wouldn't respawn.

Skeletons can be switched off if you set SKELETON_CHANCE to 0 in Buildsettings.h . But never mind how they look, just kill them all <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Will check Marigot (entry from the sea?), and I posted a fix for crewhiring during tut elsewhere.

To Jason: Did you try to do a rapid raid on land? It should work on land for all I know. But I never tested it. The code says "if( !bSeaActive && !bAbordageStarted )", which means that if you are not on sea and not in boarding, the code should be executed. Otherwise you should get the "No raids on High Sea or during boardings, mate!" notification. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

About the CTDs: I noticed quite a lot of CTDs in interface screens as well. So far, I've had troubles with the repair ship screen and autobuy button in the buy goods screen. Something somewhere is pretty wrong. Next time I have time, I'll check it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

About the invisible braces of guns: That is my fault. I tried fixing a bug, but caused one instead. That will be easily fixed next time though. In the meantime, extract the old pistol#.gm files to RESOURCE\Models\Ammo instead. Sorry for this...

I don't know anything about the screen transitions. I didn't notice that last time I checked. Maybe that is somehow related to the amount of CTDs?

Could you show error.log files for some of the situations above? I know sometimes there are no error.log files created, but if you get any, please post them... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

To CCC: That's fine with the pirates and skeletons. I just wanted to know if it was something caused by my bad merging job. That bad merging job probably also caused the Marigot problem. If I have time, I'll try to fix it. I don't think it got caused by you.

A further clarification on the CTD when buying personal item in the store. This has occurred twice after trading with merchant out of the cargo hold. Both times there was an error message on the Desktop that said
"Runtime as sent a request to terminate in an unsual way.

Same error message when I asked the gunsmith to fix a pistol.

But ... you can trade with merchant on personal items if you don't do the cargo hold first.

Odd HuH?

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> Maan, Youre right, I remember now, that in the STOCK game years ago I experienced the same thing with disappearing officers. ANd its occured in Falais de Fleur, yes.
I agree, that something really weird going on in the last update, but I dont experienced the disappearing exits from decks while boarding, after I installed it. Did you made anything about it? It looks like. Or this is just a really rare error?

It's probably the foam files Marigot_Port.ini and Marigot_Port.tga.zap . Those must go into resource\foam\locations\Town_FalaiseDeFleur\port, but the modpack puts them into Town_FalaiseDeFleur\port2 ! Move them from \port2 to \port and try again. FAIK no new game is necessary

About the sudden amount of CTDs: Something somewhere must be wrong. I wonder what happened. What ship were you using at the moment? I'm wondering if the Surprise has anything to do with it? Maybe the ship's ship_init entry messes things up somehow? When I have time, I am going to make a complete comparision between the previous codebase and the current one and check all differences for the source of the problem.

About Marigot not working: Why the HECK are the Cayman and Marigot port foam files in RESOURCE\foam\locations\Town_FalaiseDeFleur\port2 at all then? I just took the folder name as-is. I didn't change that. Why doesn't that work??? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Pieter,

While testing new maximum update (and I've seen that you've included in the last modpack) I notice some CTD after had win a boarding and enemy captain died during boarding instead of surrender, maybe it should be also the cause of your CTD?

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> Bye, bye,
giuliootto

But that is during boardings. The new CTDs are in interface menus, such as the trader's interface or shipwright's interface. How can it be the same cause? Don't worry though... Somehow I'll figure it out. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

The CTD I refer to isn't during boarding but after boarding, and it seems related to ship to ship transfer interface <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

This has nothing to do with previous post, BTW I've disable ammonition mod and till now I didn't have further CTDs during land fight even if at port <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> bye,bye,
giuliootto

In that case the ship-to-ship transfer CTD after boardings probably has the same cause as the other CTDs in the repair screens and trading screens. I am beginning to get the idea that somehow something is wrong with the ships.

As for the CTDs in port: Maybe it is caused by me messing up some gun models. I tried to fix them, but instead of fixing them, I caused a problem with them. It'll be fixed next time. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Hey, matey, if CTD means Crash To Desktop, I have LOTS OF FKKKKnn this..... First: NEVER save in a shop, or shipyard. That action made even the hitting the I key produce a runtime error....
Second, I get runtume error shortly after I leave Isla Muelle, In the map scene.
Third I get runtime error In shop interface
Fourth: I get that almost everywhere... I think something started when I first visited a shop or shipyard after installed march 18 update. Please, do something, Its horrrible... I cant sail with my ship... The only good thing in this update is the cannon flash. Sorry to say that, matey <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> But this made me stuck in Isla Muelle! Im not kidding, the c++ runtime error maybe started by shop, or shipyard, but now I got It everywhere, if I first visit a shop, or yard..... Only onsea dont present set. But In the map, yes......

I posted one of my full errorlogs to the beta bugs topic, but sometimes after the crash I find this line too:

Error.log
-----------------------------------------------------------
RUNTIME ERROR - file: interface\store.c; line: 135
Divide by zero

I think its not included in the one I posted to beta bugs.......
Guys, help.... Im sinking fast.

If im not mistaking, the 135 th line in the interface/shop.c is this:

GameInterface.strings.GoodsWeight =

but shop.c wont changed in the last mod, neither in the march 5 th... So, I think, something else made this line to divide by zero, not 'itself....'

Thats all Info I can gather for you know. Im a bit out of mood yet... I taught I can easily just swap this file, but the damn thing didnt even changed, so the problem is elsewhere. And I need to skip my voyages for today. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> my crew are half way to mutiny already, I spent too mutch time with modelling, and made em' shaken up. If theres ANYTHING I can do to help you, Pieter, or help to anyone to find a solution, please, let me know. I dont wannabe a 'pleeease heeelp' landlubber anymore, If you got some written info about how to learn the POTC system, let me know, I want to learn it, to help you in that LOTS of work, and dont just sit here. Its c++ ? Or visual c++? And what are the differences between in POTC and the regular language?

I played a big sum with the march 1 and march 5 updates, and never crashed into desktop. (except when building mansion or observatory) So anything is wrong, its must be in the last updates files. The Crew had enough of my non-presence this week. Ok, I close my last words, I think, its time for me to walk the plank... If I manage to make it to an island alive, get some attack force together, and somehow recapture my ship, to release my officers from the brig, I let you know... This message has taken to you in a bottle, floating towards Redmond... ..

Best wishes....

The Wolf

I am going to try and figure out what's wrong with the 18 march update now. Sorry for all the trouble. Use the 5 March update for the time being.

The script language is like C, I think, but I don't know. I don't know C; I only know PotC code a bit. I know a bit about programming in general (I can program stuff on my calculator, which I learned all by myself <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> ), but I am not too good with PotC code still... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I have just checked all the code differences between the 5 March and 18 March releases, but there's nothing obviously wrong. I found and fixed some minor things, but I don't think those caused all these bugs. I am going to test it now.

There was somthing pretty wrong in the location init files. Typo of mine. That shouldn't cause CTDs in interface screens though. I tested a bit now and didn't encounter any CTDs. Actually; It all ran VERY smoothly. Maybe I did fix the problem somehow? I am going to add in the latest stuff now and then upload the new update for some more testing.

if you upload it, could you guys keep posting the details of errors, or the lack of them?
i cant touch my PoTC for two weeks, because of tests disrupting my normal playtime [weekends only, i cant play on weekdays], and can only check the forums.

Pieter,

Is the fixed update ready now or will you notify us later today? And, will you post a list of the adds.
Will this version have the stromy start on the new islands or will still need to add that? Is the rapid raid on land fixed yet?

Oh! one other question, what happened to the rappers in the jungle. I have not encounterd them.

While miss Nathan, Cat, Inez and some others, I am very happy we have you.
