Every PotC films starts out with a song in one of the early scenes. I thought that the crew of the Wicked Wench singing <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drunken_Sailor#Lyrics" target="_blank">"What shall we do with the drunken sailor?"</a> would be nicely appropriate. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

I came up with another possibility for the "land ho" scene before I saw what had been posted here:
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec--><b>Mercer:</b> You better do something about that or I will. (grabs his pistol)
<b>Jack:</b> Nice way of solving problems you've got. Shooting me is not going to bring land any closer, is it?
<b>Mercer:</b> But Mr. Edwards would!
<b>Jack:</b> If it pleases you to know, Mr. Edwards already IS in charge of navigation and has been ever since the beginning of the journey.
<b>Mercer:</b> He failed to mention that.
[<b>OR</b>]
<b>Mercer:</b> Perhaps you then are not such a poor captain as I had thought at first. At least you know who to give the important jobs.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->Perhaps there's still something of use in there?

Jack: How did you figure that? Navigation is not an exact science. There's plenty of variables that can delay one. Wind, current, weather conditions, absence of rum.
Mercer: You better do something about that.
Jack: <b>right, i'll get the rum.</b>
how's that? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

MERCER
(frustrated)
You better do something about that.
JACK
Right, I'll get the rum.
MERCER
(draws his pistol)
Mr. Sparrow, would you like to be shot?
JACK
(smiles weakly)
I'd rather get the rum.
A tension filled moment passes, Mercer cocks his gun.
JACK
(holds a finger up)
Right. I'll get some land for you straight away.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->LOL! Making a funny scene even funnier, are you? I love it! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/24.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

Shame to lose the Poseidon reference though. Thought that would make a nice tiny hint to the eventual revelation of Calypso.
In any case: If we can keep up this good work, the final script is going to be REALLY worth filming! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

Ot maybe he's not angry at all.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->I was thinking perhaps they had been caught up in the doldrums. These can be found in the waters around the equator and would really slow you down due to the absence of wind. Of course Mercer doesn't understand that there is nothing that canbe done about that, so he becomes angry and impatient when the voyage takes longer than he had hoped. This also allows us to add a small scene with the sailors aboard the ship during a complete absence of wind. That again adds a touch of realistic shipboard life as well. And if we go with this idea, the scene can just play out as written and there'd be no need to change it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

Personally I like giving Edwards something important to do and it allows us to puta sextant in his hands during the night conversation scene. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
