Did you by any chance have an item from one of those cursed monks?

Though that should be dissabled acording to Pieter but it does sounds like "You will not be able to save your progress and you will not be able to return to the archipelago once you leave" that they mention ^^

i'm very sure i didnt ave any cursed items on me, i'm trying to avoid those cursed monks <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />


btw i found something else in the new horizons quest, you know those women standing outside of the bonaire residence? the cant load their talking file wich i needed to start the quest about the missing children, also the govenour of bonaire doesnt give me any pirate hunting quest, even though i have a letter of mark

It is said that it's not working at all though.

A couple of things:

I am getting no graphics when I try to load saved games, just a blank screen with the text under it.

Second, after srarting with stromy start on Jamica boarding and taking a ship, I got a run time error of the the sail to menu when I tried to go to Port Royal.
 
No graphics upon loading your savegame? HUH? It's working perfectly fine for me. Anything in your log files?
You did install correctly, I take it? But you would've noticed if you didn't. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />
 
I believe I installed correctly the second time. I installed 9A over 13 final and added patch, ran runme twice.

Do you have any advice on the runtime error?
 
Not really. I get some of those occasionally, but they appear to be random. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

hi peter, when i finished the oiseau quest, everyone started to refer to my avatar as "miss" in port royale....funny....

can someone explain me in plain english what`s wrong with the music?
it starts and hang "ad infinitum" or more simply a theme seems to initialize, then stops, and re-initializes again, and my avatar stops every now and then.
in my last attempt to enter a tavern, the music hanged and the game freezed.
i had to reboot just to find out that my quicksave was "a bad save".
it wasn`t.
but i have to suppose that the game autosaved exactly there..it should not happen.
if there`s a "security" save when something goes bad, it should go in another slot..not in my ONLY quicksave game slot.

PS: some people`s got problems to install the B14 alpha 9, and i thought that, maybe, someone did not execute the build 13 run me bat before overwriting with latest build....
this should even explain how was possible to have the build 13 logo instead of the latest...
however, just a thought....

Random CTDs are NOT good. I'd rather have consistent ones; at least those ones can be tracked down. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

I do know there's one sound bug in Patch 1, but we've got a fix now that'll be included in a future patch.
Not running RunMe.bat on Build 13 wouldn't cause you to retain the Build 13 logo though, because the modified file is IN the Alpha 9 download.
 
The music hanging is more likely a symptom than a problem. If the rest of the game hangs badly enough that the music stops on one note, there are other problems.

It would help to know on which island this happens. Also, has anyone put the CIII characters back in? At least one of those will crash your game every time when changing locations.

Use quicksave at your own risk. The bugs may not all be worked out. Also, when the game was messed up, did you accidentally press the quicksave key trying to get it running again? I do stuff like that quite a lot.

Someone probably assigned some characters the wrong greeting name. Either that or you made everyone unhappy and their sound file didn't get changed.

Some of that code is quite flaky. I once shot an enemy in town with a grapeshot pistol, killing him, but a citizen on the other side of town somewhere off to my side died as well... no one that could have been hit by my fire. I got the rep hit for it.

I've already commented out some code that gives reputation hits from gunfire or grenades. If you hit an enemy who isn't in the "current enemy group" (the one you're aiming at, I think) you would get the rep hit even if he had his sword out.

If you want someone to beat up because of it, look for the people who made multiple hit weapons. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Someone might eventually get around to fixing that code. In the mean time, use a scrapper pistol or something that only hits one target. Or take some of that excess loot you've accumulated and donate it to the church to raise your reputation.

Did you swap ships after the successful boarding? There are some problems with that which might cause a CTD either when you go back to the 3D deck view or when you do a sailto. Check your system log to see if there's an error from the Touch.cpp code mentioned in there. I recommend not swapping ships until you're back on land, preferably after you've left the port.

Not sure why the trader would cause a CTD.

The CIII characters are still there, but their if-statement is turned off.
However, they ARE used for some traders and tavern owners now in an attempt to add some variety to those.
Not "Ostin" though; he's commented out altogether.

i use always quicksave, indeed.
so, you say it`s the main cause of my "laggish" game?
actually, every time my avatar steps in a port or city, the lag is there and the sounds skipp endlessly.
but, in the tavern, shop, house, store, in few words, when my avatar is "indoor", the sound is clear and the lag vanishes.
when i come out from any governor palace, here it is again.

`till now, the Jamaica Island is a nightmare for my avatar.
i even tried to move some music file, just to see if the skipping could be related to corrupted file music.
no luck, game stutters anywhere.
can be a loop?
i noticed the CPU on my laptop is stuck at 100% when this happens.
maybe a script firing and firing with no reason? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />

however,
here is some minor bug:
while being boarded (yes, i`m not going to have a shining pirate life, <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> ) on my lugger, two men were occupying the same meter square.
this happened in the ship desk, in the cargo hold and in the captain`s cabin.
the other ships were: one cutter and a schooner (yep, i was boarded twice, and theis bug reproduced itself twice also....)

muskeet are not affected by weapons mod, like in the build 13, why?
and i cannot ameliorate the borgiablade too.
of course, these are not bugs, but intended, i suppose.

after being robbed and having catched the thief, just 1 gold is given back to my avatar.
this happens only when the thief admits to be too much old to go on with this kind of job and the player get two answer:
1)take some of my money
or
2)give me back all my money and see you
both options have the same result: the avatar gains back just one gold.

loading a savegame can affect in a strange way your avatar, that is: totally unable to move.
how to solve the problem?
reboot
or press pause in game and unpress it.
it works.
 
PS: this is my engine.ini file.
i can`t have my errorlog working, i mean no errorlog file at all in my folder, someone knows why?
if i press F8 for screenshots, nothing happens too, or at least could not find them....
