Guide Treasure Quests

Cheers yeah I removed the bonaire question from my comment when I found the info in the FAQ! Thanks anyway!!

Those maps are already on my PC.. some I got from your dropbox last week but the stock map and the trade map I found on google and added to the POTC Maps thread if you recall!

I am wondering if there is a map to the Eleuthara caves because I have looked in almost every vendor I have come across but can't find one.

Cheers!

I don't think there is a seperate map for the Eleuthara caves - I think they are either based on (copies of) the Bonaire or Barbados caves ( can't rember which ).

:read

ahh ok that makes sense.. I guess I can figure out which one since I have just been in there. Hmm looks like the cave is the same as the Bonaire cave but not sure what the 2nd part is based on.. Was disappointed that I didn't find anything in there :(

Cheers!

What you will find in there is combat and a few trinkets.

If you want a real challenge go to Barbados and find the Maltese Abbey. :wp

The Eleuthera caves have a model taken from CoAS, which was added after the cave maps were made. That is why there is no map for them.

I have a problem when I found the chest the icon is desappearing! WHY?! Please help I want to open it!!

Formatting fixed on all opening posts and images restored.

In the meantime... trying to get these treasure quests to actually behave. I've got some faint ideas now on how to do it, but it might require quite some recoding.
While I'm at it, perhaps I'll add some digging and "X marks the spot" on the Archipelago map. That'd add some piratey goodness, no? :cheeky

I'm soooo close to getting these Treasure Quests to behave. But now apparently the random items are messing things up for us.
Because there apparently can't be a blade and a treasure chest in the same spot. :modding

Edit: Ok, so that's not it either. Then what IS??? If I put a treasure chest in place through CONSOLE, it works.
Why not then when I get a treasure quest???

We're getting there! The treasure chests no longer need stupid back-and-forthing to open. However, you will need to do some digging with a shovel first.

Next up: Working in an "X marks the spot" on the Archipelago Map. After all, what is treasure hunting without a big, red X? :cheeky

I'm having some weird effects with the "dig up treasure" icon. Hopefully Jack Rackham has some input.

Mwhuhahahaaaa! These Treasure Quests are becoming better and better! No longer do you need to walk back-and-forth and exercise your acrobatic button-mashing skills.
However, many of the treasures are buried, so most of them will require you to equip a shovel or pickaxe and do some digging.
Next up: X Marks the Spot! :treasure:

So I'm adding a hint on the item required to the questbook to prevent people from finding the treasure and then not being able to get it because they don't have the item.
However, the hint won't be there on Swashbuckler difficulty and beyond. Yes, I am evil! :whipa

You'll probably need to start a new game again for the version with the updated Treasure Quests anyway.

I've also removed the "qualitization" of shovels, pickaxes, etc. Don't quite see the point of having those in different versions. Hopefully that'll reduce cluttering up the inventory.

Also, the Archipelago Map under the [M]-Key will, from now on, show:
- Ship's position
- Location of Treasure Quest as "X Marks the Spot"
- Destination of Cargo Quest as "box of cargo"
- Destination of Convoy Quest as "ship with arrow"

And it'll show it all at the same time. After all, why limit it only to when you GET those quests? :cheeky

Cool! This leaves me wondering, though: would it be possible to add a key on that page which explains what each symbol means?
For instance, an area in the top left of the window showing:
- [Ship icon] = Your ship
- [Box icon] = Cargo destination
- [Ship/arrow icon] = Escort destination
- [X icon] = Treasure location

All this neat treasure quest stuff is not in the game yet right?

And BTW I went to the grotto on Le Grenede found the secret hide (with a blade over it and no hand) and I couldn't open it.

Possibly. Not entirely sure how though. Would take quite some further effort.
I had hoped to make the icons fairly self-explanatory. They will also blink in the location where you got the quest to further clarify.
Ship's position will blink if you NOT in the location where you got the quest. At the moment, the treasures don't blink either, but then a "big red X" seems quite clear to me. :cheeky

Anyway, I'll see if I can figure out a legend of some kind. I agree it would be pretty nice to have one. :yes

At the moment, my new work on them hasn't been released yet, because it isn't quite finished; still fine-tuning and fixing some stuff.
Have to add coordinates for 9 of the treasure X-es still. And fix a weird bug where the box will start "wandering with you". o_O

You need to do a fair bit of back-and-forthing while mashing the F3 key repeatedly to try and open it.
That's understandable frustrating and stupid, so it'll be better on the next release. :cheeky
