Silent Hunter 3 and 4

Snuck into Scapa Flow an bagged Illustrious Carrier.Took a while for her to sink and escorts could not find me,, although I did get depthcharged and took some minor damage while try'n to sneak past the subnets, There was no less than 6 destroyers waiting for me on the other side of subnets, managed to escape,Targeting C3 Cargo,T3 tankers, troopships managed 96,000K on last patrol. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Scapa is such a pain

Ok, where are those subnets . . .
and where was that carrier parked?

I entered from the south in the middle and evaded the Flower.
Stupid captain won't turn on asdic.

the 2 parked DDs were just to the East of this southern entrance.

The parked aux cruiser was off to the west

the bulk of the targets were inside the port
and the Flowers seem to stay out of the port!!

from there the exit was far west . . . not south then west.
only some shore searchlights to ignore at night.
Heck I was even on the surface.
Inside the west exit, took the northern branch.
If you zoom in, you'll see what I mean.

You must missed subnets entering from the south cause there should be a subnet across that entrance with an opening about in the middle, carrier was anchored just N.E from entrance and two auxilary cruisers anchored N.W from entrance. If you use SH3 Generator , intelligence will mark the aproximate locaton of subnets as well as probable targets <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

ok tried SH3 Gen

crap that would have made the last 7 patrols so much more fun.

Anyway still no nets marked in Scappa

but what I found in other harbors last cruise seems to have changed.
Thinking Nets and Mines are moved each patrol.

Anyway now to find that BB. Got one marked.

And snuck into Scappa from the west this time
and exited South then west. Patrol ships just don't seem to leave their asdic running. Two almost rammed me while I was letting them pass.
(silent running and 0 speed)

Another Fiji, DD, med Tanker and Transport littering their harbor.
And 7 torpedoes waiting for juicy targets.

yep. love SH3 generator, you can also adjust reliability of intelligence report by clicking on the options tab and use the slide bar to adjust, I have mine set to high cause my intelligence guys are that good <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
also your playing GW and I'm bouncing between Seawolves expansion and GW,my earlier post on Scappa was with Seawolves. With Seawolves you find BB and Carriers Lock Ewe and Scapa early 1939-1940 so can give you good renown points early in game to purchase better sub early in game <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Heres a pic of Illustrious carrier sunk in shallow water at Scappa Flow

See ye bagged the Nelson BB <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> , Picked up Pacific storm yesteday so I'll post in that thread <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Yes, sucker-punched the Nelson

But the trick was to sink that Tanker at dock.
Try it next time you get into Ewe.
Its right next to the Nelson inside the dock.
Nasty firing angle.
Just don't sink that American tanker unless they be at war.
If they are, sail around the port and bag that American transport too.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> ran into that problem with the tanker as well. Fired two fish, one bounced off the hull cause of bad angle or it was a dud, second one exploded but did little damage, it was at night so surfaced and pounded the tanker with my deck gun while a DD anchored 2500 meters away shelled me, shells were spalsh'n about my sub about 5-10 meters away while I stood on the bridge and my gunner pounded the tanker, quite a tense few minutes <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Escaped without a scratch on my hull and was quite happy to get the hell outta there with 3 more DD bear'n down on my sub <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

did a stern tube right angle firing.
Hit her midships
blew up at dock.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Hmmmm, wunder if ye get renown points for sinking Docks <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Heck I was wondering if you would get renown points if that English DD was trying to shell you and managed to sink the American Tanker.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I'd take those renown points any way can get them <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

<img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y24/rupertlittlebear/tanker_repose.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />
That's a Nelson in the foreground.

Both are just bobbing around the bay.

Lookslike some goo fish'n, in that neighberhood <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> was that Lock Ewe per chance <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Lock Ewe, Second Nelson, third 100k patrol.

<img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y24/rupertlittlebear/coney.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />
Small Tanker at 12 knots.
Didn't know it was sunk.
It just kept sailing on and on until suddenly the lights went out.

Somebody over at SubSim posted he is play'n GW and ran into an all Tanker convoy with a Bogue CVCarrier in the middle of it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> a lot of nice fat targets fer sure <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Snuck into South End
Sunk 2 Liners (that's Ãœber troop transports)
Small + medium tanker
Medium Cargo
3 destroyers

during an air raid!!

Then sailed Counter-Clock-Wise around the Brit Isles,
and tripped over a double Nelson Taskforce.

Sorry to report, only 1 sunk.
and the cruisers got away too.
But this was a Nelson sunk on the open ocean. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

4th 100k + tonne patrol
Grey Wolves 65% reality.

Is that the task force BDU reports in grid AM02 , always to far away to catch up with it, judging from the size of taskforce icon on map it looks to be a big one <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

just a standard taskforce off Ireland.
