Nope, leave it be until we Rip the guts outta some more bugs.....most of the GANG, appeared here by magic the minute the CTD's were fpound anyway...the rest will make up their own minds before uploading new versions as well....

Did that officer have armor? And what skin was the officer wearing? I am thinking this might have to do with the officer having armor and the skin's name ending in "a" or "A". I noticed that myself once. This will be easily fixed though.

Well, I started a brand new game once we found the CTD's....mainly because I thought the game "could" have the potential to continue now past where I have never gone before.....and I wanted to see the new Islands , and knew that I needed new start! But I don't know if I equipped all these new officers with armor...I might have, Do you want me too test this out Pieter? With and Without Armor........I will probably go with yes, because it will be at least 24 hours before I see a reply from you , so I will bank on it

Are you equipping weapons and armor that you did have in your inventory? Or do you get them out of the blue? Also: Are the weapons you equipped actually better than what you used to have equipped? If so, it might be because the Quick-Equip button (F-button on the keyboard) code is somehow executed, even though it shouldn't be. Maybe resetting the controls to default will fix it?

Well my favorite Sword is the Atwood F100, and this was replaced...can't remember by what with....but I never wear armor cause I really hate it on top of the "Captain" Jack Sparrow dreadlocks skin......( By the way...wasn't Jack always asking about his EFFECTS please! and one was a hat.....how come nobody gave Jack a hat in the build!!?? ) That and the fact that the game thinks Jack would rather use a Musketoon, or some big lumbering thing, instead of my favorite Scrapper.....Just say ARH! men! and begone

Yeah, that tailor's been missing for a long time now, going back quite a few versions of the Modpack, if my memory serves me correctly. I've only ever noticed him there at the beginning of the game, if starting on Oxbay. Once the French occupy he disappears and doesn't return, even following the expulsion of the French.

This is easily explained.....Simply, the French realized that the Tailor was actually a British Secret Agent, disguised as ......(this is the clever part...."A Tailor" no...seriously!!) and the new French Emperor Napoleon "Pictus" Bonaparte had him beheaded and buried under the Workshop! on the Oxbay seaside!

As for adding AoP towns, i am against it, i dont think akella would appreciate it and it could spell trouble for alot of us. Adding ships and skins is one thing, adding major elements of AoP gameplay is definatley a no no.

Speaking of ships i'd like to see the AoP Corvette added

Max boarding was 5 including officers now more like 8-12.


I think the thing here is the fact that it used to be up to three officers, "OR" four crewmen from your ship....but sometimes I see any Officers....up to 3 depending on how many passengers you have picked....PLUS 4 crewmen as well, only because I always have takin 4 ashore at any given time.......

No no long john, i haven't disappeared. Even if i don't let posts on the forum, i come to read other posts every day if i can. It is just because it can sometimes be difficult for me to write messages in english, specially if i have to use technical terms

Ok two more, one not a bug but needs to be looked at

1.) Whenever i do manage to board a ship and i take her, at the boarding screen i loose all my goods i had on my ship except for gunpowder and ammunition, everything, all my previous goods are gone.

2.) we need an option when boarding to sink the ship, because when i leave it and theres crew on it sails away and that interfers with the quest to "sink the pirate corvette" <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> i cant fire at it once shes surrendered without getting bad reputation.
 
I have reinstalled PotC again yesterday at night and installed it with every possible update after 5 February 06 modpack.

I had still problem with disappearing officers when I hired them in tavern. But, when I captured a pirate Shnyava and her former captain agreed to work for me as officer (he was "Man1" model. I was unable to check if he had an armor, but he shouldn't as I didn't gave him and I never saw officers who had one unless I give them) I took his ship and assigned him to command my lugger. Everything looked ok (I forgot to check exact amount of various goods in a cargo hold, but they remained when I reach Redmond, except Wheat and Rum due to crew consumption). In Redmond harbour I had two ships. As soon as I moored I saw my captain standing next to me in port, but he wasn't listed in Character and Passenger screens and also I didn't have a lugger anymore. When I went to the Redmond center (where Silehard residence is) the officer dissapeared too. And more, as soon as I lost one ship with officer shnyava (which I was comandering) repaired herself (hull and sails went to 100% although before was 54% for hull and 47% for sails), although the amount of the crew was conserved.

It seems that the problems with run-away officers occurs only when reloading to land locations. Unfortunately, I still don't know how to fix it. I'd also know how people who doesn't have those problems installed modpack?

When I fought with that shnyava she surrendered. When I boarded her there were pirates who tried to fight with me - I observed similar bug like Merciless Mark.

Update:
After I loaded a saved game and sailed to Redmond harbor again, but this time I went to the Captain Cabin. I saw my officer there although he commanded "Victory" just before I left. When I check the interface he wasn't there. After I retured to the harbour I saw my second ship, but she didn't belong to me anymore - I had only one icon of the ship and no officers. So then, this happens also when changing locations to the ship interior.
 
And heres another real bad one, after i boarded a pirates ship and looted her as a frenchman, my reputation dropped to "Horror of the High seas" their bloody pirates! and i was on a mission! and i was flying all the right colors <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

And the goods problem is worse than i thought, the good never get loaded on the ship! i tried to sell what i had in flaise the fleur but i had nothing but gunpowder an cannon shot to sell! could this be a bug related to the new gunpowder mod?

When I was Horror of High seas all ships around Isla Muelle struck colors inmediatley I even didn`t attack them!

I`v got another idea of the chose nation, now more a chose profession, just like the Slib mod, you must chose a profession, like a merchant, the character begins with a trade ship, more money, ande the most skill points at commerce, and as sword, a rapier. A pirate should start with less money, more melee skills and aiming skill, and should start with a cutlass, so on so on.

All of the othres stay with me, but I do know that they don't always stand beside you when you move from area to area they now tend to come toward you from a distance.

I don`t have problems with broken swords, they run away when I break their swords, only on boardings they dont run away, but highway men and other scum do.

GREAT! That's exactly how it's supposed to work. I added code that prevents it from happening during boardings, because you HAVE to kill all opposing crewmembers to be able to continue to the next deck. If they break their blade, it would just be annoying to kill them when they keep trying to run from you.

I think we should decide on what we can and can't add from AoP. We, of course, want to add as much as possible, but we don't want Akella to sue us for it, so we should try to come to some sort of decision about this.

That was changed by CCC a long time ago. Now you have a whole bunch more boarders. And you will start on your own deck, instead of starting right in the middle of a fight.

Great to hear it actually is working. You don't have to kill him anymore after he tried to run; he won't harm you anymore. I once had some officers disappearing when they had armor. This happens because of the automatic showing of armor on the character mod. If the new ends in "a", the game "thinks" it should change the model based on the armor, but this causes trouble when the A1, A2 and A3 versions don't exist, like with the reskinned researcher models. I will get that fixed at least. Maybe the problem will persist after that; if so, the cause was not the armor but something more crazy.

That is annoying, yes. I added the Quick-Equip key that should equip everything you can equip and should equip something better if available. This should only happen if you actually press the F-button. It sounds to me as if the code is being executed, even though you don't press the button. Please keep an eye on whether the newly equipped items are "better" than the versions you had equipped (even though you might not personally agree). I coded the Quick-Equip button so that it will never equip something worse than you currently have equipped, but sometimes it won't actually equip what you want it to. We'll have to figure out why this happens. Obviously, it shouldn't.

If you use too many quotes in one post, they won't work anymore. Why? I don't know, but that's how it is. I had that problem with my previous lengthy post as well. So it's probably not your fault, but the board's. If you insist on the quotes working, you can spread them over multiple posts.

I merge your "Screwface - Some denser jungle on new islands" update with the my "works in progress" build version and everythings seems working fine.

I just found two missed ";" that seems caused some CTD during fight at port:

In file: LEnc_monsters.c
At Line; 266

and line; 565

To Pieter:

I try to update by myself with WinMerge the Build with last mods from 9 February 2006 PostBuild12 version,

These are what I've added:

1) latest_fixes.zip (11-02-06)
2) Screwface - Crewmember on shore mod update 19 Feb 2006.rar
3) Buildingset_upd23Feb.zip
4) CCC_BoardingPartyEnhanced.zip
5) bladedamage_mod.zip
6) update_01-03-2006.zip
7) small_update.zip (05-03-06)

With the last small_update.zip (05-03-06) my version of POTC was relative stable, just few CTD during fight in the town's port, that seems solved with the fix mentioned above.

Then I tryed to apply: Maximus's update.rar (12-03-06) and this update introduced several bugs that I've read in this thread.

So I just reinstall everything except Maximus's update.rar (12-03-06) and go on.

Then I've added the following update:

Till now (after play this version about for 6 hours)I didn't encounter any CTD or other several bugs.

Maybe this replay is useless, but I think that can serve to localize where are the problems.

WOW!.......I think!!, "in his own hard to understand, only because of the struggle with English and ME!" that <b>giuliootto</b> might just have save us a lot of play testing and work otherwise....what say you Pieter......If I read that right, he may have stumbled on the cause of the majority of these new annoying bugs......Lets face it, most of these being reported were not in the ( playtested to death ) CTD's versions...by Jason and Myself......these are mostly new since the CTD's

Thanks to Your efforts it's possible that we'll get stable version on base of which we'll be able to release pre-Build 13. Then we could easily clean smaller bugs to get Build 13, featuring all mods we have until now but without CTDs and very annoying and hard to remove bugs.

Afterall, we must start creating Build 14. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Since this is the post-build thread id like to submit something, on the ftp ive uploaded AoPbarrel.zip, it contains a replacement for the deck texture in the ship folder, specifically it replaces the cannon barrel part with a cannon barrel from AoP, give the cannons a more realistic shiny look than the grainy grey current ones <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
 
All english ships i board are manned by pirates, and its always the same boarding deck no matter what ship it seems, only boarding spanish, duth and french(that ive tried) seem to work normally <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />
 
Oh more things, im getting booring i know, not a bug but a gameplay issue

The toughness ability needs a real re-balancing, after i got it at level 9 and melee 7 im invulnurable, it regenerates so fast that i need tons of enemies hitting on me to cause any damage. this is seriously bad for gameplay, and btw what good is toughness anyway? i think its a rather pointless ability personally. detracts from your own skills, reflexes and timing moves. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

I've just sent to you my resurce\ini folder and output from WinMerge of differences between my version of the build and last PostBuild Modpack.

I've problem with send the Program folder, for some unknown reason Hotmail don't let me attach that zip file for a not better identified virus! I've seen in that zip and there aren't executable (just .c, .h and .txt files), and Norton Antivirus on my desktop doens't find any virus in that file.

Can you provide me a way to send that file?

you didn't ask me, but you can try to upload this file to PA FTP and send to Pieter information what's a name of that file.
