Can this be done! make the engagement screen a little bigger? I know you can change the settings for disengaging...

It could be possible. I remember that in Build 12.1 during engagements ships was much further, on the horizon really. I don't know why change was made in some postbuild mod which put Nathaniel ship right next to other ships. I also don't know how to set this back - I don't know many things.

Merciless Mark...you are saying that version 2.94...is right now part of this new patch that Pieter gave us after we found the CTD's!

Also is there another file of yours that we needed...thought I saw something somewhere on another thread about different parts to your mods...or something...maybe about someone saying he had conflicting downloads...this ring a bell? If so what other mod do we need to bring us updated to latest stuff.....cannons, flashes, lighting, whatever


Actually That reminded me of another topic about the buildsettings.h file....there is somewhere in there where it talks about the graphics/gunfire/explosions.....settings and right after this it says something about CCC's Greenford dungeon mod is also set by this factor....but it looks broken or not completed.....this use to have its own place to put "0" or "1" or whatever......I dont think it is working right at the moment....

The whole cannonFX mod was built on and for Post-build, the latest version is all intergrated into the new update, no additional files required, but what one person had done was downloaded an older version of cannonFX called Merciless cannonflash(wich has now been removed) and installed.

Here is what might be a small bug that I think someone has mentioned. I attacked a French patrol and the vessels I boarded appear to be crewed by Pirates not French. The Captaoins are French.

Also Pieter, no one whose blade has broken has run away.

And again Pieter, shouldn't we make a general announcement to the board in general about the new update?
 
Aye ive had that problem too.

Btw is there anyone else experiencing the inability to board? i can only seem to board ships in only one battle, after that im am totally unable to board under any circomstances <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Well, there is really one annoying bug, that was not present during our search for CTD's.......I playtested these updates for two weeks and I had more Officers than I could count.....NEVER lost one.........I have lost 4 at least today.....hire one, go fart around towns...and they just disappear.......Can somebody please explain that one...waste of money...so why bother...and somewhere here in the threads today, someone claimed they lost a ship because one of their hired officers that was put in command of said ship decided to Defect and took his ship with him....somewhere...gone!!

Also sometimes when I go through a gate or come ashore, I am all of a sudden wearing armor and have different weapons, than what I equipped ??? What is up with that ?

P.S. Actually Merciless Mark, that boarding bug was very much present while testing for the CTD's and Pieter has stated that most of these known bugs will be fixed....just didnt say when!!......Some of the boarding stuff we have to wait for Maximus to put in appearance again.....by the way.....CCC and Screwface seemed to have disappeared, and Petros also.....is there a new pirate game out stealing people ?

Well, 10 more minutes of checking, I went to sea and took a ship. After i took all the goods and let the ship sink, all the cargo except for ammo and gun powder disappeared from my hold when I checked after I arrived at Greenford.

One other bug I noticed I think someone esle talked about. When I went from one part of town to another, my character equiped himself with other equipment. It changed from having a pistol to a musketoon every time I changed a part of town and also when i boarded it reset to the musketoon as well.
 
I am at school right now, but be assured that I read your comments and I will comment on them either later today or tomorrow. Seems like we're having some seriously weird bugs. THis update contained a lot of new stuff, but I didn't do a lot of testing on it. I think that, now the CTDs are fixed, I should make some updates inbetween this update and the previous one, so we can figure out when the new crazy bugs are introduced.

All mods that I could find are in the latest update, except some character models, ship models, etc. All code-related mods are includes. This includes Screwface's denser jungles and the buy ammo mod from the Redmond trader. Please note: You can also take gunpowder from the gunpowder storage aboard your ship. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
 
Ok the tailor is missing on oxbay, i wanted to go buy Beatrice in her original clothing but when i returned to oxbay after the french took it the tailor is not there <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Yeah, that tailor's been missing for a long time now, going back quite a few versions of the Modpack, if my memory serves me correctly. I've only ever noticed him there at the beginning of the game, if starting on Oxbay. Once the French occupy he disappears and doesn't return, even following the expulsion of the French. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Merciless mark made that and I, liking it, added it in. The flags currently in the modpack are just temporary. At a later point in time, we will decide on what flags actually should be added to the modpack. And even though I really like it, Nathaniel's flag won't be the WIC flag. A flag with a Hawk on it would be more appropriate.

I noticed that myself as well. This is not swapping with an enemy ship after boarding, but swapping with one of the ships in your fleet, right? After you go to mapmode, the ships are swapped, but not before. I recall it being otherwise in Build 12.1, though, but this has been like this for a long time.

Yes, we can. I will add all appropriate piratey sails from "BIGdaddyLOU's POTC Custom Sails" pack into the modpack (the white, red and black ones anyway; the other colours will be more complicated). The flag packs will be available as additional downloads from my site eventually. Unfortunately, these won't be able to be toggled, because we can't access the code handling the flags, so we can't change it and add a toggle.

I think you can change that with the setting RANGE_TO_ENEMY in InternalSettings.h. Not sure though. There IS a toggle on it somewhere.

Ships and characters are very possible: Maximus added both already. Not sure about blades, but I reckon that will be possible as well. There are also several blades in the SLiB mod that we might add. However, I see no point in adding lots of blades that aren't really very distinctive. I only see a point in adding blades if these blades add something special to the game.
I'm not sure about adding AoP towns. We can try, but the PotC engine might not support them. Inside location models can be used though. (I wonder if Akella is very happy with that... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> )

All of these are in there. El Rapido's new Buy Gunpowder and Shot mod isn't really nescessary anymore, because you can simply take gunpowder from the gunpowder storage aboard your ship. You can buy powder both as items or goods. If you buy them as goods, you can take them out of the gunpowder storage as items. Also: If you put gunpowder into the storage as items, you can use them as goods as well. Not sure if this already works 100% as intended, but this is how Maximus intended it to work.

6) Pieter, in the newest update I noticed this change in the Characters/init/officers.c file. Each officer/NPC character had a line sort of like this:

NOW they have been all changed to something like this:

[ch.greeting = "Gr_danielle";]

now this is a file that I keep on hand for reasons that you, CCC, and I discussed a long while back...why the change and what did it do?

This was changed to make the greetings use the greetings in RESOURCE\INI\ALIASES\Greetings_alias.ini. This should not cause any trouble with the game.

It isn't working right? The idea is that if you set this factor to a lower number, it will use particle effects that are less intensive for your computer. On sea battles, everything should look less spectacular and in the Maltese Knight dungeon, this should be the same. There are no seperate toggles for these, but they could be separated if you like.

Did that officer have armor? And what skin was the officer wearing? I am thinking this might have to do with the officer having armor and the skin's name ending in "a" or "A". I noticed that myself once. This will be easily fixed though.

Are you equipping weapons and armor that you did have in your inventory? Or do you get them out of the blue? Also: Are the weapons you equipped actually better than what you used to have equipped? If so, it might be because the Quick-Equip button (F-button on the keyboard) code is somehow executed, even though it shouldn't be. Maybe resetting the controls to default will fix it?

Screwface was active a few days ago. I don't know where Petros or CCC went. CCC will probaby be back. Petros is wanting a Build 13, because he doesn't want to download the large Post Build 12 modpack while it still has so many bugs. I hope we can release a Build 13 soon.

I don`t have problems with broken swords, they run away when I break their swords, only on boardings they dont run away, but highway men and other scum do.
 
Im not shure anymore if the inability to fire is a bug
when i chose to reload the cannons i could fire again after that

As for adding AoP towns, i am against it, i dont think akella would appreciate it and it could spell trouble for alot of us. Adding ships and skins is one thing, adding major elements of AoP gameplay is definatley a no no.

Speaking of ships i'd like to see the AoP Corvette added <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

What do you mean by that?


I mean that if you take out bad blades and put 5 bosun's choice and 4 musketoons, and 4 battle armour after your next engagement when you open the weapons locker there will be 14 bosuns choice, 9 musketoons and 12 battle armour. They are reproducing themselves.

Screwface was active a few days ago. I don't know where Petros or CCC went. CCC will probaby be back. Petros is wanting a Build 13, because he doesn't want to download the large Post Build 12 modpack while it still has so many bugs. I hope we can release a Build 13 soon.

Guys, I am not having a the disappering officers problem. Okay, I had it once with the guy in the Brown coat but he is very unreliable. All of the othres stay with me, but I do know that they don't always stand beside you when you move from area to area they now tend to come toward you from a distance.
