Pirates of the Caribbean: Community Prequel Script

Well, we have plenty of scenes floating around in the planning stage that involve lots of humor. Looking at the script as it is right now, did we strike a balance so far?

I think so, I would have brought up an issue if it wasnt. The first scene is well layered with heavy comedy, light, and storyline plots beginning. I do think it is balanced well, I just wanted to make sure that we can agree on that point. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I agree completely. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> We cannot go to far in one direction. I like the script as it is so far now also, though we always reserve the right to change it and who knows, we may come up with some ideas in the next scenes that require us to go back and make changes. It has to remain fluid like that. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
I like that jungle scene of Gun's in the simple form it is, with just them walking through the jungle and hearing the roar and having Jack and Mercer reacting to it in different ways. Then during the next scene to have a reference bought up again about it and for Mercer to make a sarcastic comment at Jack's expense about his somewhat cowardly reaction. Remember, they have to go back through the jungle again to get to the shore so that tiger may come into play again. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Sounds good to me. Indeed we do need comedy, but not too much. And, if possible, not too many over-the-top jokes either. I like somewhat more subtle ones. Though I'm looking forward to the scene where Jack orders to fire the cannons on the wrong side of the ship so that he can step from the yardarm onto the French pirate's ship deck.

Jack
Load all port cannons with double charges.

Edwards
(to the crew) Load all port cannons with double charges!
(to Jack) You sure you meant port, captain?

Jack (climbing up the rigging)
Port it is.

A laugh out loud scene like that is to good to pass up, <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/24.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rofl" border="0" alt="24.gif" /> and would blend in nicely with the way we have structured the script. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Dunno what? Didn't know what at first?
Anyway, the scene I refer to was one that we had thought up a long time ago.

HAHAHA! LOL!

About the jungle scene, I can see when the roar happens, Mercer looking in that direction, then looking back ahead. Jack jumps like a frightened feline, or something like that. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

It could be that they were walking in a line with Jack leading the way and Mercer right behind him. Jack turns around to pontificate about something or other to Mercer and then the roar comes about somewhere off to the left of them. Mercer looks off to the left to try to locate the sound and when he looks forward again Jack is gone. Mercer starts to look back and forth for where Jack went and that's when you hear Jack pontificating again, but now he is at the back of the line.

Sounds fine by me, especially if we reference it later in one way or another. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Yes, we can see while Mercer if looking off to the left, Jack leaping by behind him and then Mercer looks in front of him again to find Jack and that's when you hear Jack resume his pontificating right at the point he left off before the roar, except now he is well behind Mercer. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Good, I like that, it will cause some laughs. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

See, its good to thoroughly interpret the scene and to explore all possibilities. We are ready to write whenever we complete a little bit more brainstorming, I am happy to put it into the main script. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Yep. It went from just a sketchy scene where a roar was heard to now having some framework. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> Now we have to work in a reference to it later on, perhaps in the next scene.

I don't know how the hell 2010 became next week <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" /> but we have to save this thread somehow. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Frantic copying and pasting? The Internet Archive has got the main page saved, but clicking the forum link takes you to nothing - damn.

It seems this site is about to expire next week. We're trying to save it, but we need to be able to contact the webmasters for that and we're not sure if we'll manage. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

I AM a forum moderator. And forum administrator as well even. There's nothing I can do. I have no access to anything beyond the forum. I couldn't get the "rent" for the site paid even if I had the money, simply because I wouldn't even know who to pay it to. I'm not the site owner. Keith and William are. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Unfortunately, Pieter is absolutely right. If it was just a question of one of us paying to renew the website, I'd gladly do it, but none of us can because its in Keith's name. Our only option left may be to call Keith before next Monday and tell him what's going on here because its obvious that he hasn't been checking in on the forum since he left. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
