Pirates of the Caribbean: Community Prequel Script

apart from artois voysey and having to find clues to a treasure in a church's library. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

What do you mean? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

Ah; but that's a FREE interpretation. Just re-using some ideas in a different context. But I admit that IS where I got the idea. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Thx for answers. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

I also think that Jolly Rogger is supernatural character but I thought no harm in suggesting the idea right? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Now...about that trip... how about they get attacked by pirates and Jack could show that he's the only one who can coax he speed out of Wench sails. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

Or maybe that they get cought in some storm.... ya know... big waves and stuff.

That would introduce more action setpieces. Of course there should be plenty of action in the film, but I also think there should be plenty of character development. The main purpose of showing the voyage to Africa is to establish the relationship between Jack and Edwards and to get to know the character of Mercer. Of course if we can COMBINE that with an action scene, that'd be nice. But I think it wouldn't hurt to just show a normal, somewhat boring, sea voyage. After all: That WAS what most of the life of a seaman looked like. It wasn't all fights and storms. Most of the time, nothing would happen but the ship moving forward. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

As Pieter pointed out, we shouldn't try to show everything that had been alluded to at one time or another in the other films, but maybe showing Jack quickly running away dressed as a cleric with a crowd chasing him would make for a funny scene.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
But, somethings should be shown such as that, i dont want a vague story line just for the sake of leaving 90% of the happenings to imagination, i think we SHOULD show a good number of things it will flow better.

Jack needs information on the location of the treasure and this information can be found in the church library. He impersonates a cleric of the Church of England to try and get the Spanish monks to give him the information. He does get the information, but things go haywire and the scene ends up with Jack in monk's clothes being chased by an angry mod. Sounds funny. But like Old Salt says: We shouldn't explain too much. Although this particular story would be very amusing and could indeed work in the story.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
It would be very amusing. And a good way to keep it lighthearted and not let it get to serious, having the Mexican treasure escapade end in that fashion. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I agree, showing that bit would be funny.

I have no ideas for the voyge to Africa...yet.... but I have this scene so say if it's any good.

They have arrived to Africa. Landing party (coulpe of boats) are coming towards the shore (Jack is standing in the first boat very proudly). Jacks boat is the first one to ''hit'' the beach. Jack steps down, makes a couple of steps forward ( in the background you can see EITC soldiers unloading their guns and stuff ).
Mercer is approaching Jack and he asks him the map that leads to the village. Jack doesnt give it to him becouse he's the captain...he will take them.
So Jack is looking at the map (who is upside down) and he turns towards ocean and he says something like:''this cant be right''. Then he realises that map is upside down so he turns the map as it should be and than off they go to the jungle.

Something like that. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />

It's not the idea I've been working on a lot it. so....

LOL! That sounds pretty good. One of those odd quirks in Jack's character that could make for some amusement even while he's trying to act like a professional. Good one. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

I could image Jack standing tall in the bow of his boat in the same heroic pose as he has at the end of DMC when they're looking for Davy Jones' chest and the compass is pointing to Jack. Then he steps ashore without holding the side of the boat, which all appears very impressive and professional. Next thing we know, he's holding the map upside down. Nice contrast. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/24.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rofl" border="0" alt="24.gif" />

Great little quirky idea, Gun, keep them coming. Here Jack is having his George Washington moment, then we realize he's still just Jack Sparrow. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> I like that idea and the cleric in the jungle one. We have to keep these aside for future use when the script calls for them. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Indeed we do. We don't want to forget those! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />
Little random funny things like this, that's what we need. We have the general story outline, but just telling a good story and adding the action scenes is still not going to make a good pirate film. For it to be truly special, there must be those small, unexpected things that you remember even after the film is over and that would make you want to see it again. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

That's exactly what it should be like! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

this is starting to sound better and better. maybe there should be an obvious 'NORTH' on the map pointing down. or, for instance, the map showing having to go left, and jack, gazing only at the map, walks accidentally into the ocean because he's holding it upside down.

I think the North pointing down would be the most obvious way to do it. I also really like Jack turning to sea and saying "No, that can't be right", then turning the map right side up, just like Gunsmith suggested. Jack actually stepping into the water might be a bit over the top. Even a somewhat loony person would notice when the background looks blue rather than green. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

oh, i've walked up against many a pole, tree or whatever doing that. you'd be surprised how often it happens.
