Solved Fixing the Build Mod Ships

Do the Batavia1 and Batavia2 have different sets of rigging? If so, maybe its correct-ish for Batavia1?

It seems the Batavia walk file doesn't match the ship properly. The crew walk through the deck a bit and then they climb into imaginary masts. :(
Is that when starting a new game? Weird things can happen if you just continue a savegame with new walk files. :?

Batavia1 has the weird rigging and Batavia2 has the frigate masts and rigging. The one I saw was Batavia2. Methinks that is the one in GOF also.

It's Batavia2 (the one with the better texture) that I checked the walk file on; maybe I should check the Batavia1 and see if that does match better.
If so, we can stick the Batavia2 texture on the Batavia1 rigging.

AARRGGHH!! Batavia1 is the one that has the bad GA. I could not make its flags behave at all. Maybe you can.

I just checked the Batavia1 and the walk file doesn't match her rigging either. Not to mention that she now beeps when loaded and indeed does have her flags messed up.
So then we'll just have to remove the Batavia1, but can keep the Batavia2 until we've got something better. We've got to drop the crew again though, because no crew looks better than crew climbing ghost masts.
Oh well, can't be helped, I suppose. :shrug

I just finished Cozumel. :treas Some of it went well and some of it went badly.

The good part is that there were no CTDs and Silehard was there and I captured him. The Temple part went just fine. After that the Pearl was there and we had a good battle.

The bad parts were bad GA in the first battle, in the battle with the Pearl there were no flags, and at the end of the fight for the Pearl, the ransack screen didn't stay on long enough for me to do anything before the movies started. So no Pearl for me.

Also, the last time I did this the ship I used was RN_Warship. It did not have rear chasers. I used that ship again this time and once again she had no rear chasers.

So, nothing has changed here from patch 6 to patch 7.

Do you still have a savegame so that you can try again? I just noticed that while I DID make a fix for that, it was AFTER the Patch 7 release.
If you can, please extract attached file to PROGRAM\Storyline\standard\quests and try capturing the Black Pearl again. Now, the video should start only after you go onto the worldmap and not interfere with your ransack screen.

I just checked the model file and she's set up to have 4 stern chasers, which are listed correctly in ships_init.c . :?

It's early and I haven't had a single mug of coffee yet, but...............

No I do not have a save to go back to. I kept playing on and had to delete the old ones. Also Silehard jumped overboard and escaped. That didn't seem to bother the governor and I got my reward. I then chose to not serve England and now Danielle will not talk to me.

In order for the stern chasers to work 3 sets of numbers have to have negative numbers. The main GM has all positive numbers. This is puzzling to me because after the last time through I redid the rigging and Armada told me how to get the stern chasers working again.

This time she had better rigging but the stern chasers did not work. It was especially irritating because a class 3 Spanish fast galleon sat in that dead zone and happily blasted away at me during the battle.

No stern chasers affect these ships: RN_Warship, FR_SuperiorWarship 1 and 2.

Yeah, I vaguely recall mentioning this before. I just checked again, and it looks like XX and ZZ should be -1, but true enough, are actually 1 on said ships.
I thought we fixed that before, but clearly it never made it into a patch. :facepalm

If you let me know how to fix it, I'll sort them out for Beta 2. Then at least they'll be included for real this time round. :facepalm

Open the hull in TOOL and go to 'View -> Locators' as usual. Then, simply change the XX and ZZ values to -1 instead of 1. That's all there is to it. ;)

Thanks a lot! Turned out that the fix DID make it into the modpack, but only for the FR_Belette which already had that done before I touched her.
I put it on the FR_SuperiorWarship and RN_SuperiorWarship now too, so that should have them all sorted. :doff

Are you sure that is enough to get the stern chasers working? Look at a ship with lots of stern chasers like a pinnace. The XX, ZX, and ZZ columns are all negative for them. I have found that a "-0" works.

That FR_Sloop was frustrating! Taming the main sails was easy, but the jib sails just would not cooperate, so I ended up leaving them the same as they were. She is on the FTP in my "after patch 7" folder.

I got that pinnace and took a quick look at her. There are lots of new items and textures! One puzzling thing is that she is listed as having 4 stern chasers, but the upper 2 have been removed leaving holes in the stern wall. I used those holes to sight the remaining two chasers during a battle as otherwise one can not see behind at all. Anyway, 1-2 days should have her cleaned up.

Zero is never supposed to be negative! That's mathematically incorrect, as far as I know. :shock
So why on Earth would it need to be negative here? I noticed the ZX values were sometimes very small negative decimals, but surely they should be rounded to zero?
Does it work when ZX is just zero?

I tested them ingame; they work now on all three ships.

Thanks for that! Really that mainsail WAS ridiculous. The jibs do tend to pass through that pennant on the bowsprit, but so be it. :facepalm

Sounds great! I did correct the new number of stern chasers in my ships_init.c already, but didn't upload that yet because there's a million more differences in there. :?

Checked ingame now; much more better! That main sail still has a somewhat interesting shape, but at least it is no longer retarded! :rofl

I set the ZX to -0 and then tested it in game and all 4 chasers fired. I just looked again and ZX is 0. So I will go out on a limb and say that all that is needed to be negative is XX and ZZ.

Pieter: I could go back and raise those jib sails up above the flag but that looks silly too with three little hankies up there. That mainsail is very tall for such a small ship so it will blow around a lot.

Don't worry about it; as I said, it now does not look retarded, which is good. :onya
