Creating a Davvy Jones Model (WIP)

If we want to ask them anything, I would suggest not starting with that question. Start with telling them of our modpack's existance first, try and get some interest from them. But what's the chance of us actually being able to get hold of them at all? They'd probably ignore us or something, thinking we have nothing they want, which they would very much be wrong at, of course. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

well, what would be usefull to tell is that the better the modpack is, the more people would buy the game to get the mods.
 
dosent matter much to them really, PoTC is no longer in print, so any profit from it has already been made.

Well, we've got main characters:
Jack Sparrow
Bootstrap Bill (definitely the weakest model. Looks wimpy and rather undetailed)
Captain Teague (he looks nothing like Keith Richards, sadly)
Mordillah (um... that's some guy. He shows briefly in one scene and has no lines. I have no idea why he's listed in the "Main Characters" section)
Will Turner (sadly, only his DMC version)
Mr Cotton (sadly, no mr Cotton's parrot <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> )

Davy Jones
Elizabeth Swann (in her DMC disguise)
James Norrington (DMC version)
Pintel
Ragetti
Captain Elizabeth Swann (in her chinese costume)
Mercer (Beckett's right hand man)

Ling (one of his female bodyguards)
Tai Huang (captain of his bodyguards. Doesn't really look like his screen version, though...)

Then we've got assorted pirates (plus Davy Jones' crew), soldiers, townsfolk and Pirate Lords. 67 characters total. Plus Kraken <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Next, the locations: Prison Fortress, Isla de Pelegostos (the one with the cannibals), Tortuga, Isla Cruses (the one with the wheel), Port Royale, Singapore, Davy Jones' Locker, Shipwreck City, and some assorted ships to battle on: <i>Flying Dutchman</i>, the <i>Black Pearl</i>, the <i>Empress</i> and <i>Endeavour</i>. First three have two models: exterior and interior. Exterior ones are the ones that swim, interior ones are the one you can walk on. <i>Pearl</i> and <i>Dutchman</i> also have lower decks modelled - there's one level where you can walk through entire Dutchman, and one where you walk through most of the <i>Pearl</i> while fighting Kraken.

There's also Treasure Cove location, where you can view unlocked content, and ten unlockable swords, including Davy Jones' sword, Norrington sword, etc.


Anyway, I've uploaded Davy Jones model into the ftp. You can download him <a href="http://www.pafiles.com/potc/Kazeite/Davy.rar" target="_blank">here</a>. His model will look holey - that's because game engine displays all polygons as two-sided, and most 3D programs don't. It's mostly a matter of duplicating and flipping certain portions of the model.
 
SWEET!!!!! I want all of it... sounds real nice... is this something that will be included in the next build versions?
 
nevermind, had read the whole thread... i see now that is not the case... just ignore my last post... it was taken completely out of context...

though it would indeed be sweet if all the abovementioned things were somehow to be incorporated into the build
 
Kazeite- I just d/l ed Davy from the ftp and the textures are all screwy. I've tried to stretch/resize/rotate to no avail. The model is also the mirror image of the screenshot posted earlier.

No, I mean the Davy Jones I ripped from the AWE game is on the ftp for use as reference for <b>Heretik</b>.

The mirroring is a minor inconvience, but I'll look into screwy textures thing.

I've imported the same model into 3DMax 8 and it wasn't mirrored, and I was able to reapply textures with no problem. What program do You use?
 
I didn't use any 3d program, I just opened it in TOOL.

Are all the textures supposed to be the same size, i.e. 256 by 256 pixels? The problem might have been somebody's image converter, though I'm not sure whether its mine or yours. I also am not sure about whether its the size or the orientation of the textures which has been messed up. My converter has a side effect of the tga files coming out upside-down. Did you convert them from tx or some other format before they were uploaded?
 
Yup. Nevertheless, if you check the "Reverse Normals" and "Invert texture" boxes, Davy will look a bit better <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
 
Well. I say... silly me. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> It does appear much better. Funny, though, TOOL's never done that to me before.
Above in a post, you mentioned that this was from the PC/Xbox/PS2/Wii version of AWE. Would it be possible for one to import the xbox 360/ps3 model given the time and resources?

Btw.. Heretik... planning to make Davy's tentacles move?

Also, I can't wait for the next mod that would add this model and (hopefully <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> ) the flying dutchman too!
I have Mod 13 right now, and I must say, I am truly amazed by how you all changed the game <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
