Mod Release Build 14 Beta 3 Progress

The default "player" name is all I ever use because I only have one storyline at a time going, so that should be good.

More dialogs in the brothel? Sounds good to me! Did some brothel dialogs get removed at one point?

And a fix for the merchants! Uh, why would officers want a lockpick?

Here's to hoping it actually helps. I couldn't test it because I don't have that problem much.

As I remember it, we discussed it before and I think it was Armada who toned some of it down.

That's what I wondered myself, so I gave it a +1 Luck bonus.

In WIP 17
When I Save the game manually - the game is also generating a Quicksave. :modding
Ah, THAT's when it happens. I had been wondering about that. Pirate_KK recently rewrote the save code, which is probably the reason for it.
That is not a bad thing though, is it? It is a WORKING quicksave that doesn't show.
But it does mean that you can use the QuickLoad button to load the last savegame you made, even if that was NOT a QuickSave.

Not?
"Ahoy matey, would you like to find some REAL booty?",
"Arrr!",
"Hey sailor, what's shakin?",
"I have a hat.",
"'Come into my parlour' said the spider to the fly...",
"Aye, shiver me timbers, and shiver something else if you get what I'm saying...",
"What does a mouse get when it spins?",
"The second mouse gets the cheese...",
"I'm free but not free!",
"I'm a pirate!",
"I'm here to unclog your pipes.",
"My pipes are REALLY messy.",
"Disney is going to mess with your head.",
"They sure are...",
"I may not be Fred Flinstone, but I can sure make your bed rock!",
"Is that a keg in your pants? Because I'd like to tap that ass!",
"That is some fine-lookin' cargo you got there, sweetie.",
"I'd love to pillage your village.",
"Come 'ere, girl, I wanna swab that deck!",
"I wanna sail all seven of your seas!",
"You really hoist my mainsail!",
"You can sail into my port anytime!",
"You can make me feel dirty anytime, big guy.",
"I assure you I will!",
"Wow, you looked like a boat with a big tall mast!",
"As long as that mast has a place in your harbour, toots.",
"You said you loved me!",
"Aww, baby, that was just pillow talk.",
"You want the truth? You can't handle the truth!",
"Show me the money!",
"'ello luv, fancy a tumble?",
"Awww, where were you two days ago, when I had the time and the money?",
"I'll give you a discount.",
"That is the most romantic thing any woman has ever said to me!",
"So you're the new cabin boy, eh?",
"See this hook? Variable speed with five alternate attachments, baby!",
"Talk dirty to me!",
"Avast, me pretty! Strike your panties and prepare to be boarded!",
"Let's do this again, hot stuff...",
"Arrrrrrre you free on Saturday?",
"See ya soon.",
"Me skull an' crossbones aren't the only thing I plan on raisin' tonight!",
"What a lovely smile you have!",
"That's not all, me little lovely!",
We didn't want to go too far with it though and tuned several of those down from what they used to be.

That's amazing. I really need to get more in there.

:yes

It doesn't show in the game's manual Load screen - I only saw it when I looked at the Save folders with windows file manager.

:cheers

Wasn't me. I might have fixed some spelling/grammar errors before, but I didn't change the dialogue itself. :unsure

Yep. I saw them too, but wondered if perhaps they were generated on each location reload or something as an automatic backup. But that isn't the case.

It seems I didn't make it up:
Code:
Build 14 Beta 1 Patch 6:
- Code Updates:
. Brothel dialogue updates to lower the sexual tone by Armada
:shrug

Hi Just downloaded the W17 and fix 2 over the Build 14 Beta 2.5
Game failed to start with the following error:
COMPILE ERROR - file: seadogs.c; line: 975
Undeclared identifier: InitTownNationalities

Anyone have any fix for this?

I got an idea. How about a deserted island with an woman. And when you land there, the first thing she says is "you know, I haven't made sex for months ...". But the models of women in long peasant robes that are in the brothell...somehow...Should be a nude model. And one island with a boy for bigger variety. To pick them up after a shipwreck.

Dude, this is PotC, not 3D Sexvilla :D
But maybe we could add a positive affect to the player when he 'met' a woman :D

Oh God! Men!:no

OOPS, my mistake. Opening post updated with the missing file re-added. Should work now; thanks for catching. :doff

Let me put it this way.... we deliberately have a Game Preferences toggle on the brothels that is off by default. :wp

I'm wondering when we might be able to consider the modpack state good enough for a proper Beta 3 release. I do believe we're pretty close!
Be sure to post here any and all comments on stuff that still needs attention, especially stuff that is just plain not right and needs to be addressed.

These items are still on the To-Do list:
Need Further Comments:
- Command of surrendered ships after capturing
- Weird effects with flags? Wrong personal flag???
- Test Sidequest: Girl Won in Card Game sidequest

To Be Completed:
- Making Citizen Dialogs
- Changing "About Build" into "Tips & Tricks"

If nothing else comes up, perhaps we could get it done around next weekend? Possibly....?

Used it.

Now for the girl won in cardgame, I played as Jack Aubrey, didn't test the other storylines yet. And I got to Martinique. The quest is close to finish. It stops in the Tavern (when when we caught Virginie's BF with another girl) when the other girl talks to me but with blank conversation. After that, the game continues to run but I can't move (Controls are locked). Tried three times from an early save and same results.

I maintain that I didn't change the dialogue. I've seen that changelog line before, and I swear it was a mistake. :whipa
Someone else probably changed the text and I then fixed a few spelling/grammar errors. At no point did I rewrite the actual content, so to speak.

EDIT: I'm trying to find the original discussion where the brothel dialogue was changed, but I can't find any evidence of it before the Beta 1 Patch 6 changelog. WTF? :modding

EDIT 2: AHA! I KNEW it wasn't me! This is from December 2010, in response to a quote from Hylie about brothels being toned down:
Oh, I didn't re-write it. Pieter gave me the new files in a recent pack of fixes, and I just corrected the spelling and grammar (while keeping it piratey, of course!)
So who did re-write it? Credit goes to them, not me entirely.

Okay I tested the girl-won in card game, it works.
But.. is it intended that you can draw your sword and kill your gambling partner? :D You get your whole money back if you do that and you don't even get reputation loss :D
