Seriously, don't ask, german lawyers are... *cough* No, I don't want to say this. German judges are even worse and most time they don't even know, how the internet works or what a browser or a game mod is. Not to mention all that bureaucracy Germany is plagued with; they really called the internet "unknown territory" a short while ago.

We've had the Cutthroat Island title theme in there since Build 13. So if we're going completely by the book, wouldn't Build 13 be just as illegal as the newer versions?

That wouldn't have caused any trouble for me, because I didn't knew this before (yes, I know, it sounds weird, but it's... yeah, it's weird). That's how that whole stuff works, as soon as you know about copyrighted stuff being used without permission in a linked source, a german webmaster is not allowed to link to a website/mod/youtube video any longer. Otherwise they will break your neck at the court, as soon as somebody finds out. It doesn't matter, if the music is buried in a mod or somewhere else.

Well, of course I *cough* can pretend I didn't knew it *cough*... That's not honest, of course. Hmm............. :ninja
 
I know they're VERY troublesome in Germany. The German modding community for CoAS had to go into "hiding" as well and cannot publicly release their work.
Overkill, really. We're not harming anyone or anything. On the contrary. But legalese and being reasonable seem to be mutually exclusive terms.
Perhaps you can remove the link to the modpack, just write about it? It's not like it is hard to find if you search for a minute anyway. :facepalm

Wouldn't be necessary, I think I found a simple solution to avoid all this legal madness (no, not deleting the whole guide).

Anyway, sorry for all that trouble. It's just that I'm worried about copyright law in general; it's not a nice thought to get nearly killed by some raging german lawyers, just because you wanted to help others to get their work spread. Makes me sad.
You aren't even allowed to talk about... erm... "illegal" stuff on the internet in Germany, because they consider that as "advertising", and they also had that pretty dull idea of restricting the internet in Germany like television. Or more clearly: they wanted to force a lot of webmasters to make their websites only accessible at night time, when all the children are asleep. Youth protection and so on. Of course it couldn't work that way and the concept was not implemented, but that's how they are and it drives me nuts.

But that's not a problem anymore, so... apologies. Just forget my little problem.
 
Aye, really; unfortunately. And a lot of webmasters just shut down their sites back then in frustration. "Why are they doing this?", our politicians wondered. "What happened?" I don't remember anymore how often I rolled my eyes at them.
And those people don't even stop! :modding

That's why I can't trust common sense anymore; thinking or informing oneself seems to be hard nowadays for some people, especially when it comes to german politicians and all that legal stuff. :facepalm But that's off topic.

... Reminds me of that guy who complained about my website, because it's not designed like facebook and so he had no idea how to use a traditional sidebar navigation. I tried to tell him how it's done, but he took it as an insult and wanted to sue me for this. Goddamnit!
 
damnit :modding I found 2 mistakes in the code. Pls don't download it for now, it CAN crash your game (abnormal program determination). I will replace it later.

You're welcome. That IS the point of it; to SHARE stuff. Doesn't work well if access is restricted. ;)
 
Finally got around to installing this sound pack. There are 2(?) new sounds for the Dutch? They are too short. Me like um.

There are some new day time sailing sound tracks, and for some reason they make me think of Peter Pan. Me no like um too much.

Oh yes, new game required.
 
yes the port royale sound tracks are rather short. So most of the new town music could be too short if you walk around for long. I solved this with changing the waiting time between the music. Unfortunaly, I don't know how or if the game is able to play the next track if one is finished :shrug
Well some of the sailing music is from anno1602 :D there are one or two tracks who are a bit odd, I agree, but I noticed that a bit too late :D If you don't want them, you can comment them out in music_standard.c just search for ANNO1602 and you find the tracks.
How do you like the 2nd main menu track?
 
Well it is a much calmer track ;) but it fits very good :yes imo^^
If you don't like it, you can comment it out :p
And your Cutthroat island theme is still there ;) It is a good diversity, I think
 
I'll give it all a listen once I get round to it. First things first though. Plenty of coding work still to do. :facepalm
