Mod Release Build 14 Beta 3 Progress

I had deleted all the save games of my progress during the troublesome Battle of Aquadilla quest and then I restarted it from the gov of La Tortue. Went through the whole damn thing, didn't use any cheats, got killed a lot but finally made it through to the same point, same result. Montbars and I kill the four soldier English patrol and then he just stands there like a goon. I uploaded the save just prior to exiting the cellars.
Thanks a lot; you're absolutely right. It looks like this is related to the very recently rewritten boarding check code.
That has broken the old quest code and could cause a LOT of problems in other storylines as well.
I have now rewritten that function to use the new system and it is working again. Will upload the fixed files soon.

On a different but possibly related note, with the most recent update, there is an item in my inventory that is either simply blank or it sometimes shows up as error. It only comes up when I am looking into another object inventory (officer, chest, dead body), but it must be related to the medicine items. I can use health pots with the quick button all I want, but if I go in through actual menu on the bottom to "use item" the game crashes every time. I added the most recent logs.
I haven't seen that weird blank item yet, but did manage to prevent that "use item" crash. Will also be in the next update.

I'm hoping this all isn't a result of save game corruption. I was so close. I have been thoroughly enjoying the storyline, but I wanted to get to Isla de Muerta so I could buy one of the fast frigates, upgrade the hell out of it, and then unleash a hellstorm of pirating shenanigans on el Carib.
Don't worry; you'll get through. Sounds like you've got some proper fun planned there! :cheeky
 
Opening Post Updated: New Fix Pack Posted

Some slight fixes and adjustments posted now:
- Prevented crashes when using the "Use potion" menu
- Prevented quest issues by adapting it to the new "group check" system
- Price for hiring crewmembers as officers increases with their level
- Inverted the DISCOVER_SAIL_TO and DISCOVER_FAST_TRAVEL toggles so these can be switched OFF in Realistic Game Mode

I'm hoping this all isn't a result of save game corruption. I was so close. I have been thoroughly enjoying the storyline, but I wanted to get to Isla de Muerta so I could buy one of the fast frigates, upgrade the hell out of it, and then unleash a hellstorm of pirating shenanigans on el Carib.

I have a question concerning the shipyards.

In the options I have set Shipyard Ship Availability - to Stock PotC

and in Realistic Ship Purchase I have - No additional limits on buying Ships ( stock PotC )

I thought this would enable me to buy any ship in a shipyard - but they are only offering me ships that I can sail at my low level ( class 7,6,5).

I think I have misunderstood - these Options and the descriptions on them. - but I just want to check - since I thought these selections would remove the restrictions mentioned in the Options descriptions.

About the memory leaks, it seems the game or the Storm Engine does not inherently have memory leaks. When I check the system log of the stock game there are no reported memory leaks, but when I check the system log of the build there are reported memory leaks. I just tried it. I've also played the stock game for hours without any crash or reported memory leak, but haven't tried it with the build.

So, it seems something added by the build is causing the memory leaks.
 
I am inclined to believe it indeed IS a mod-added thing. But why, I really haven't the foggiest.
I'm hoping that by fixing various error.log entries, things will improve. But there are some seriously weird things out there.

I just tested this myself on level 1. Puerto Rico shipyard happened to have a Tier 3 Razée Frigate available for purchase and the shipyard happily sold it to me at level 1.
So it seems to be working al-right. Larger ships are probably still much less common than smaller ones, though.
 
That sure thing is the biggest problem of this MOD game.

Bad Memory Leak = Crash/CTD's :modding :facepalm :shrug


I also did not experience any crashes in the stock potc......ever. :no

Following Tales of a Sea Hawk storyline, I accepted the quest of escorting French Barque loaded with ammo to Speightstown. On the high seas, I attacked the ship, captured it and made my navigator as a captain of my "stock" Heavy Lugger. When I came to Port Royale, I swapped it for brand new ship (English Bark), but when I get on deck, the stern looks damaged (like a deck during boarding). Ship is new, hull and masts are on 100%, so what is wrong with that deck?

Those deck models were originally made for boarding purposes, so they always look damaged.
You'll see similar effects on nearly all other decks. It's a bit odd, I admit, but harmless.

Which game version are you running? That deck texture was supposed to have been replaced a long time ago. :facepalm

Beta 3 of course, update from 14 sep 2013. Please, don't tell me I have to update to the newest up from 18 sep! I started a new gam few days ago because of the older one!

Anyway, that will make no difference here. It looks exactly the same for me.
Always has done, ever since the unmodded game even in the case of that particular deck.
 
I would recommend pressing F11 in your old saves after applying each new update though, it prevents awkward bugs between updates when I do that.
 
Plus, if I update enough times and don't do F11, the framerate stutters like crazy.
 
That.... doesn't make much sense. But oh well.... if it helps for you, then I'm not going to complain, am I? :cheeky
