<b>Man Farts on Cops</b>

September 26th, 2008 ·
A West Virginia man who police said passed gas and fanned it toward a patrolman has been charged with battery on a police officer.

Jose A. Cruz, 34, of Clarksburg, was pulled over early Tuesday for driving without headlights, police said. According to the criminal complaint, Cruz smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and failed three field sobriety tests before he was handcuffed and taken to a police station for a breathalyzer test.

As Patrolman T.E. Parsons prepared the machine, Cruz scooted his chair toward Parsons, lifted his leg and “passed gas loudly,” the complaint said. Cruz, according to complaint, then fanned the gas toward the officer.

“The gas was very odorous and created contact of an insulting or provoking nature with Patrolman Parsons,” the complaint alleged. He was also charged with driving under the influence, driving without headlights and two counts of obstruction.

Cruz acknowledged passing gas, but said he didn’t move his chair toward the officer nor aim gas at the patrolman. He said he had an upset stomach at the time, but police denied his request to go to the bathroom when he first arrived at the station. “I couldn’t hold it no more,” he said.

He also denied being drunk and uncooperative as the police complaint alleged. He added he was upset at being prepared for a breathalyzer test while having an asthma attack. The police statement said he later resisted being secured for a trip to a hospital that he requested for asthma treatment.

Cruz said the officers thought the gas incident was funny when it happened and laughed about it with him. Now that story is a real gas!!!

<b>Werewolf boy appeals to doctors to find a cure</b>

An 11-year-old "werewolf" boy who desperately seeks a cure for his condition is baffling medical experts.

Pruthviraj Patil is one of 50 in the world who suffers from hypertrichosis, a rare genetic condition known as Werewolf Syndrome.

As a result his face and body is covered in thick, matted hair.

But he is hoping doctors will one day find a cure for his ailment.

Born in the Indian district of Sangli, near Bombey, he hardly ever leaves his village because of his fear of being traunted by strangers.

The only parts of his body that are not covered with hair are the palms of his hands and soles of his feet.

<img src="http://www.thatsweird.net/Pictures/werewolf_boy.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

The son of a well off farmer, his parents have tried homeopathy, traditional Ayurvedic remedies and laser surgery. But none of them have worked.

It is believe his genetic condition was caused by a flaw during pregnancy.

"Why did God do this to us," his 32-year-old mother Anita pleads. "He looks so odd and whever we go people throng to see him."

Plastic surgeon Vinay6 Saoji has examined the boy and confirms that the condition is very rare.

"Hairy nevus, where a person has patches of excess growth, or hirsurism, is not uncommon, but hair persisting all over the body is very rare," he added.

Pruthviraj says he is anxious to get the hair removed but even after laser treatment it simply grows back.

The doctors don't have any answers to his predicament.

When he first went to school he said he got bullied and the other children laughed at him. But now they have got used to him and they treat him like normal.

He appealed to the doctors to help find him a permanent cure.

Could he shave it every day? It isn't like its going to come back thicker then how it is in the bottom picture. I wonder how long it takes to grow back? It has be some hair gene run amock. They probably will find the "off switch" one day with enough study, much like the way they are trying to find the "on" switch for people who are losing or have lost their hair.

Hopefully, that day comes sooner rather than later. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

<b>Driver Accused Of Stopping School Bus On Tracks With Train Coming</b>

POSTED: 12:28 pm EDT October 7, 2008
UPDATED: 5:23 pm EDT October 7, 2008

<b>DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --</b> A Volusia County school bus driver is in trouble Tuesday for threatening to leave kids on some train tracks with a train coming. The students from Campbell Middle School said the bus driver was upset because they would not stop talking. The school bus was headed eastbound on George Ingram Boulevard on Monday, two blocks from US-1. According to the students, the driver stopped on the tracks, opened the door and told them she wasn't moving until they quieted down."Opened the door and told the kids that if they weren't quiet and didn't listen to her, she was going to get off the bus and allow the train to hit them," concerned parent Glen Teschner told Eyewitness News. The kids had just left Campbell Middle School and were on their way home. All of a sudden the crossing arms started coming down and a train was headed in their direction. The kids panicked and, by this time, cars were stopped behind the school bus. Students started yelling at drivers to back up. The bus driver was able to put it in reverse and move out of harm's way.The incident has forced the school district to remove the driver from the wheel. She was placed on office duty until officials review the bus surveillance video and complete the investigation."The professional standards office is involved. They'll determine if any disciplinary action needs to be taken. They'll determine what that action is. Once they notify the employee, it takes ten days before it becomes public," explained Nancy Wait, Volusia County Schools. The school district isn't releasing the driver's name. Officials said she's been a bus driver with Volusia County schools for 11 years and has never had any disciplinary issues.

<b>POLICE zapped a runaway sheep that was blocking traffic with a Taser stun gun, a weapon issued for use in violent situations.</b>

Motorists trapped in the traffic jam caused when the sheep got out of a field in north Wales in Britain were horrified to see the sheep stunned by police then carried to the side of the road where it continued to convulse, the <i>Daily Mail </i>reported.

They and animal welfare advocates say police did not have to use the weapon on a defenceless sheep.

But officers said they had to prevent the ram "causing major disruption and possible danger to motorists" on the A55, the <i>Mail </i>reported.

Motorist Mark Faulkes said his 13-year-old daughter Amy was distressed after seeing the sheep Tasered.

"We came across a traffic jam and we saw there was a sheep in the road. Everyone had stopped their cars and a few people had got out and were trying to herd the sheep away from the carriageway.

"The police then arrived and they went towards the sheep but it moved away from them. Then one of the officers got out his Taser gun and fired it at the sheep. Then he carried it to the side of the carriageway.

"Amy was very distressed. I don't know if the sheep was all right. When we left it was lying by the side of the road, shaking.

"I thought it was excessive to use a Taser on a defenceless sheep," he said.

A north Wales police spokeswoman said Sparky, as the sheep was nicknamed by locals afterwards, was unhurt.

The RSPCA said it would investigate the incident, which happened last Wednesday.

Home Office Minister Tony McNulty eased restrictions on the use of stun guns last year, saying they could be used "where officers are facing violence or threats of violence of such severity that they would need to use force to protect the public, themselves and or the subjects of their action".

Man Blows up Apartment Spraying for Bugs <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
Reuters

NEW YORK, July 21 - A New Jersey man trying to exterminate insects in his apartment blew it up instead, the New York Daily News reported on Monday.

Isias Vidal Maceda was unhurt in the incident, but 80 percent of his apartment was destroyed, Eatontown, New Jersey police told the newspaper.

The accident occurred as Maceda was spraying for pests in his kitchen. Somehow the bug spray ignited a blast that blew out the apartment's front windows and triggered a fire that quickly spread, the newspaper said.

Police told the newspaper that the Saturday blaze also caused smoke damage to the apartment above.

<b> Woman changes name to a URL to protest animal dissections</b>
Module body

ASHEVILLE, North Carolina - You can call her CutoutDissection.com, Cutout for short, but just don't call her Jennifer.

The former Jennifer Thornburg - whose driver's license now reads Dissection.com, Cutout - wanted to do something to protest animal dissections in schools.

The 19-year-old's new name is also the web address for an anti-dissection page of the site for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, where she is interning.

"I normally do have to repeat my name several times when I am introducing myself to someone new," she told The Asheville Citizen-Times. "Once they find out what my name is, they want to know more about what the website is about."

The Asheville High School graduate who is working in Virginia said she began opposing dissections in middle school after a class assignment to cut up a chicken wing made her uncomfortable. She helped create a policy at her high school that allows students who object to dissections to complete an alternative assignment.

Despite her legally changing the name, she said most of her family members still call her Jennifer.

"It will take me a while," said her dad, Duane Thornburg, who lives in Daytona Beach, Florida. "She's still Jennifer to me. I understand why she's done it. Believe it or not, I totally respect it."

A CD showing the treatment of animals before they are dissected finally convinced him to support his daughter's cause, he said.

THEY say don't kick a man while he's down. What about punch?

A man has been arrested for attacking a corpse in its casket during a funeral, punching the dead body in front of horrified mourners.

Orlando police alleged that Timothy Cleary of of Apopka, Florida, entered Harvest Baptist Church in Orlando during a funeral and proceeded to punch and attack the body inside the displayed casket.

Cleary was then attacked by mourners who called 911 and police arrested him soon after.

Bail was set at $350.

While some Australian websites are reporting that Cleary has not been required to undergo a mental health evaluation, Florida's WKMG-TV reported says that he has been ordered to do so.

That is without a doubt one of the strangest stories I've ever read. Those two must have really hated each other.

Woman's Body Cremated In Backyard

Authorities say relatives of a deceased Tehama County woman cremated her remains on a makeshift barbecue and continued collecting her retirement checks.
Wednesday, October 15, 2008

CORNING, Calif. (AP) _ Ramona Allmond's daughter and grandson were arrested Sunday on suspicion of embezzlement, elder abuse and other charges.
Tehama sheriff's Capt. Paul Hosler says the 84-year-old Allmond likely had died of natural causes. He says her daughter, 50-year-old Kathleen Allmond, and her grandson, 30-year-old Tony Ray, left the body on her bedroom floor for a week before cremating the remains in their backyard fire pit.

Detectives say the daughter also fashioned a two-inch piece of her mother's skull into a necklace.

They say they kept collecting her monthly retirement checks amounting to more than $25,000 since she died in December.
