Nathan, your suggestion to "hack into a postevent" sounds marvelous, however I'm not enough familiar with the code to know what exactly I should "hack into". I tried LAiCharacterUpdate, and it works allright, but with a small lag. Could you give me hint which funcition to use ?
Anyway, with this we could have our characters carry all sorts of static items around. I wish I had a parrot model!
 
That's precisely what I mean, LAiCharacterUpdate, or any other `regularly-and`-quickly executing function.

That or you could just create your own: in the location loader code, add a PostEvent()--see CCC's grenade thread for an example--and then in the code of the function that event calls, have it recurse by adding another PostEvent(same_event_as_before) as the last line. Just be sure you have a way to stop it (check if location_loaded before executing; if no location loaded, return without calling itself again).

Kinda cartoony, but Turbosquid says it's free (and even the `not-free` ones don't look much less cartoony). Probably _way_ too high poly for POTC.

The really funny part is, I got hits for Parrot rifles rather than birds. Vicksburg, indeed.

Oh, I probably ought to check 3dcafe, they might have a better one for our needs.

When i try to launch VRML!mExPort.exe it says: The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Or if we get them to follow us around, that'd really be special... We could play Pied Piper, OR the Sneaky Trader could sell some rat repellent for keeping your hold `rat-free`, but it ends up ATTRACTING rats, so they all swarm after you. An attractant could work with evil poisoned monkies and such too.
 
<b>alan_smithee</b>, Rats ? Devilish idea! Having the rat dragged behind you without animation would be easy, but if it's supposed to run, we'd probably have to use LAi_FollowEverywhere, as Nathan suggested. I don't know if that works for animals, but I'll certainly try it.

I'd like a rat perched on my shoulder, too. I shall feed him bits of cheese, and name him Mortimer. He will have a hat and eyepatch to match mine, and perhaps a peg tail.
 
Heh... I have a "hat rat" for my RenFaire costume - he wears a "necktie" which is the `two-color` cord that used to be on the Captain Morgan's Private Stock bottle, an earring, and an eyepatch (he really did lose one of his eyes!). Anyhow, as of last night:

Have yet to do wings, tail, and feet. Currently 436 faces (218x2, since this is just the left half).
