The counting game

well, historical accuracy might be questionable in the case of wieght, but i know the wieght of a chainmail hauberk from experience. but that sword is another matter. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> i think that if he'd try to lift the thing he'd either get a hernia or fall over. i might add though that i haven't made any concessions concerning wieght with my current character. nearly all my training has gone into heavy armour, swords, shields and bows. that adds up. i'm clad in full steel right now, not to mention the 7 pound recurved composite great bow and the quiver. and then there's all the other items such as alchemical components and handbooks, potions, quest items and whatnot. in short, i'm lugging around 100 pounds. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/8q.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":8q" border="0" alt="8q.gif" /> that's more than a little excessive if you ask me. i really should start using those potions, though i'd rather save them for when i really need them.

<i>Well, the weight may not be right but still it is an historical fact that wearing all that armor and swinging those huge heavy swords led to some rather clumsy fights. Its a big reason why the Mongols, who wore only leather padded armor, were able to route several European armies in large part because of their mobility.</i>

i've heard of it. that a knight had to lifted onto his horse with a crane is a myth though. in fact, they took great pride in being able to leap onto their steed clad in full armour. i can only imagine how horribly it went wrong sometimes. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

i'm going try to try either two of these things:

i'm either going to become an axe-wielding mage, which is a bit of an odd combo, but i have already tried swords, and double-bladed axes are cool. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> or:

a full-out rogue. rogue is one of the major classes you can pick. being a full-out rogue involves stealth, and lots of it. only light armour to avoid noise, short-bladed weapons, a ranged weapon, 'move silently', 'hide in shadows', lockpicking, skullduggery (trap-dismantling) and detect hidden. besides that, i always was a rogue at heart. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

8067

<i>Both picks are interesting. The rougue is a lot of fun with his stealth. </i><img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

but mages can swipe the battlefiled straight clean after a while, though it takes a long time to build up to that level, and you have to be very careful with picking your skills. you'll need one heck of a lot of mana, and mages can't hold heavy stuff in their hands while casting. however, most creatures are weak against magic, and ghosts are immune to physical attacks. if i don't want to learn magic with my rogue, i'll have to imbue a weapon. i'm sure i saw a textbook on that in a shop somewhere.

i think i'll go with the rogue. seeing all those guys running around, not knowing what the hell is going on is just too funny. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> with my current ranger, they can always hear me, but rarely see me. in true ranger style, i'm unequaled with my bow. seriously, i kick ass. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> i can pick a goblin off with two regular arrows, one if i'm lucky. i nearly always hit the target too. the main cause for this is that nearly all my items enhance damage and hit rate. they don't even get the chance to hit me, and if they get too close, there's my ten-pounder to contend with. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Yay! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> For the loin-clothed axe-wielding meat-pillow monsters! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Great strength and great mobility! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Wish there was a single-player rpg game where ya can play a very muscular barbarian. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

diablo II, i guess. in fact, it's my best character class in that game. for some reason i'm always really good with tank-like units. i could take the full blast of an attack and survive while anyone else would be killed within half a second of being exposed to it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> the site for the game says that that specific attack should best be avoided, and if you'd have very high fire, lightning and physical resistance you might survive the full blast. i survived after it hit me THRICE. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/8q.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":8q" border="0" alt="8q.gif" /> that was AWESOME! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I'm good with tank-like units too. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> WOW! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> Yer right, Diablo II indeed seems to be having a bodybuilder like guys. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> Just looked at some pictures. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/8q.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":8q" border="0" alt="8q.gif" />
Sadly I'm after some 3D third-person single-player RPG game where ya can play such a monster. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I've played games where you can be a tank-like but you don't look like a bodybuilder there which is silly because to have lots of strenght and endurance you NEED to look MUSCULAR! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Gothic I&II has wierd looking human bodies and <a href="http://runegame.com/" target="_blank">Rune</a> is not a rpg and Morrowind has sucky bodies and not muscular enough and better bodies just make those male bodies even worse (arms are too small and chest is too big <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ko" border="0" alt="ko.gif" />). <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
I think I have no choice but to have a look at that Diablo II. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

if you do, get the expansion pack too. the original game was never finished. they ran out of time, so they cleaned up what they had and released it. the final chapter is in the expansion, and they added in a whole bunch of other good stuff too. the barbarian class is pretty simple to manage too. you just specialize in a weapon and keep building up your defence. oh: did i mention they can dual-wield weapons, including most two-handed weapons and throwing axes? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

8073

Awesome! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

8074

yup. nothing like a couple of bastard swords to chop someone to bits. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> they havea funny graphical bug though. the barbarian has a special leaping attack, and the more points you put in it, the higher and further you can leap. the problem is though that you can't jump off screen, so when you have a lot of points in leap, you remain hovering their for a while like you're in the matrix. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

<i>How is Diablo 2? Never played it. </i><img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

i was never that much of a fan of it. never finished it entirely either (you can start over at a higher difficulty with your aquired skills and items after you've finished). it's too linear. it is, however, a very good game, especially over the internet. problem is though that the items are up for the grabs. if you want it, get there first, and if you're too late, kill the one who has it! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> luckily that doesn't happen too often, as funny as it may be.

8081

<i>Yep. I never finished the first one because of the linear storyline. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> I'd kill everyone also to get what I need. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /></i>

well, the second is endlessly better than the first. i know someone who has both. but the major outlines are roughly the same.
