From 7 rewiews I found in Germany only 1 was positive. Game Star, one of the large game magazines, gave this game 54%, and so the price is EUR 39,99 for scrap.
Finally my personal impression is, play PotC build 13 included, have fun and wait for East Indian Company in the hope, that the developers there have learned their lessons. In future I will avoid all games made by Akella, sorry. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Playlogic does not provide adequate support for the game and you simply can not investigate.

P.S. Rats do not eat balls , but spoil packs of gunpowder.

Just a very short remark regarding the game: The manner the main hero is performing depends - unlike the PotC - on the behaviour and the items and totems carried. Some of these can be found, some of these can be bought, most of them come as award from mini gift quests, where the player is being asked a question ... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> since the NPC wants to make sure one is actually worthy to receive the items <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> and the player must actually TYPE in the answers.

Without the right stuff, the game IS !!! difficult, since more then 20% on the perks - like sword fight to avoid slaughter - depend on these items and do not come by advancement in level.

I kind of like the challenge myself, makes the game interesting... and although I recognize most of the geography from PotC... I like passing thru the reskinned jungles from one setllement to the other...

There can be frustrating however to get stucked and slughtered due to lack of... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> nautical knowledge <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />... so here is the list of answers to the questions one has to answer at some point in the game, extracted from the respective H.file:

Connect with slide Playlogic. Perhaps to release in US, they fix the problem.

Gamestop now has it pushed back to 6/1/2009 <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Interesting. I may try ordering my copy from them. Hopefully they aren't all out already.

I have sent the following e-mail to Playlogic, in the hopes that we can get some information on availability and patches.

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Dear sir/madam

I write to you on behalf of many members of the PiratesAhoy! game community (http://forum.piratesahoy.net).
There seems to be some issues with the availability of the "Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships" game and
many of our long-term pirate game fans want to buy it, but have troubles finding it available for purchase.

Yesterday I asked in a store in Leystad, The Netherlands if they could order the game, but it wasn't even in the system.
Since Playlogic is in fact a Dutch company, I would expect the game to be available here.
It is also not available from bol.com or play.com, which are two sites I regularly buy films and games from.

In fact, it appears there is only one Dutch online store that has the game in the system (http://www.gameliner.nl),
but they don't actually have the game in stock and any e-mails asking about when they will be able to sell this game again go unanswered.

For the above reason, could you please tell us where people who are interested could actually find the game available for purchase?
Preferrably without requiring a creditcard, because not everybody has one.

Additionally, I would like to inform you that we have many players of City of Abandoned Ships on our forum,
who have turned to us since it appears that the official Playlogic forums are pretty much inactive.
We try to support them as best as we can, but we would welcome it if anyone of the Playlogic staff were to join.

We are also interested if there are any plans for further game support on the part of Playlogic, including any future patches.
There have been comments on our forum about issues with the game that we feel should be addressed.

We would greatly appreciate any information which you would be able to provide to us.
Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

Pieter Boelen

This letter says everything that it should. No more criticism. Just curious if they are going to do something about it.

Hi everybody...
I'm trying to hunt this game down since may, alredy upgraded my PC just for that - it was supposed to be released in UK at 6th of june - then release dates simply disapeared - and now they are as PREORDER (ex. game.co.uk, amazon.co.uk etc...)
Maybe there is a way to legally download it from somewhere, like Steam or something...

In the meantime, no reply from Playlogic and Thomas got a reply from a Dutch site
who checked with Playlogic and have confirmed that they can NOT get the game through Playlogic. WHAT??? :shock
