Some suggestions

All I did was to make them stand still. Which does prevent them walking around. But it's still rather silly that way. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

I added on the character code from the previous page that you posted, straight onto your version of Eleuthera.c

Now the soldiers on either side of the plantation gate dont appear, nor do any of the slaves............!?

Any idea why?

Use WinMerge to see what's different; maybe you can figure out where it goes wrong?
 
Check the <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?showtopic=11380" target="_blank">Tools, Tutorials and Information</a> thread. WinMerge is most useful for code-work. As it Notepad++.
 
F11 = reinitialization. It adds any new characters and ships without starting a new game and you can manually add other stuff there too.
I don't think it works for locations. The file is PROGRAM\Reinit.c.

Nice job on that dialog file! The "unfair" option is also funny. And pretty harmless too. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
 
Changing a dialog file doesn't require you to press F11 at all. It doesn't even require you to close the game.
You can have the game in windowed mode and just Alt+Tab, make your adjustment, then talk again.
For adding characters, F11 should work. Changing I'm not sure; you'd have to try.
 
What determines where an item appears, and how do I make multiple ones appear in any one location, such as on the shore?
