Pre Build 13 Modpack

I hope it's not my fault <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> It was late and I have to get up at 5:30AM and I so wanted to try that new update. So I got greedy and started fresh with a reinstall of the game and the download of the 296mb file with a multiple connection download manager. 10 min. from end of transfer, it stopped and I got the message everyone gets on the web page. So I ended up not playing at all <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

So maybe the multiple connections got them mad or a bandwidht limit got in the way? Either way I still can't wait to try this update. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Apparently, the Pre Build 13 on my site generated so much traffic, that the server's host disabled downloading from my downloads folder. Keith cleared everything up though. The download has been moved to the piratesahoy.com server instead and all other downloads are enabled again. Everything should be working as usual again, thanks to Keith! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

I don't know if it was you, but it was bound to happen anyway. Apparently, the piratesahoy.org server simply can't handle the traffic generated by a very popular 300 MB file. Anyway, all is fixed now and you should be able to download it. I hope you manage and will enjoy playing it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Merciless Mark has done a lot to this build over the years, and he thought it worth a try! So did I! If it did work and upgraded POTC to the newer DirectX 9 it would greatly increase run times and graphics capability!There is never guarantees enough, but "faint hearts never won fair maidens"
 
Thank you Pieter, will try the new download location this evening. I would never have guessed a pirate game could be this full of features. I was right, it's all because of you great modders that it is possible.

If it does get POTC running with DX9 ... that would very well be worth the risk in trying I think. This game really should fly on todays machines... and it must be the DX8 libraries it is using that is preventing such.
 
If someone can do reliable tests of those dlls and confirm that PotC engine.exe cooperates with them and with DirectX9 well, that would be really fantastic.

What's strange, installer of PotC installs DirectX 9c, if memory serves me, but still, it uses older DirectX 8 instead. The way that program was coded is sometimes strange... Why DirectX 9 is on CDs when program really uses only DirectX 8?!

Yeah, sorry about the pages lost mates. That really sucked. Backups weren't running as scheduled so we had to go back to the one ran on the 10th of July. ... Ugh ...

Btw, we talked to the hosting guys at for the .org and we might need to move everything back over there ... The popularity of the build and everyone downloading at a time ... Wowsers ... Might need to put it a mirror on rapidshare or something like that and cap the bandwidth ... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blah:" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
 
Obviously I missed out on a lot in the last week, from some of the other posts I gather that there has been another Update released in the last week. If this is the case can some one give me the link for it please.......... Cheers

Only one I know of is this <a href="http://pieter.piratesahoy.org/downloads/pre_b13_update_19-7-06.zip" target="_blank">Update 19th july 2006</a> if there is a newer one then I don't know about it sorry hope that help's.
