Pre Build 13 Modpack

To Incredible:
How many weapons do u buy for officers?? 4-5?? total 150k, 130k from crew's money 20k from wealth when u pay the blacksmith.where do u get those 20k?(i changed bs to take money from crew)(PS do you use officers for boarding?? i surely dont)
How much loot u get??... YOU not the crew. by selling the loot u get money into wealth. By selling trade goods, by doing pirate hunting jobs, by boarding ships(the money u get for boarding) should go into crew money.
Now, the only way to increase wealth is if u sign articles or if u get some land(prety hard for pirates:p)

And remember you can allways donate money for crew. And you can allway put an variable into BS.h to select what money to use when trading PERSONAL items.

But this is another issue...right now <b>I WANT TO SOLVE TTHE DICE GAME !</b> i realy don't know why doesnt <b>gameBet</b> keeps his value.
Edit: officers get money when u pay their salary (dunno about articles) but you can allways take those money by exchanging with them... this is a nice way to make money ..hire an officer for less money he has and you get the officer for free.

to pieter: <b>Great Job!</b> now lets see how great it is <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

PS: i finished the stock game twice. so quests dunnot interest me very much. the only thing i did quests was to get my hands on Mephisto, all i do i is searching for that treasure fleet encounter, and boarding every ship..and i mean every ship.(the only ammo i have are chains:D)

Since there seem to be more fixes not published yet, I'm not sure, if to mention those issues. Ah, I'll do anyway... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

- I started with Potuguese nation and had a stormy start to Conceicao. Broke my blade in fight and resurrected. Afterwards I changed BuildSettings.h to turn off WeaponDamage-Mod (don't use it normally), started from a save, just made before the mentioned fight and reinitialized. Suddenly it said: Portugal hostile! I checked out relations screen: it said neutral. Afterwards I couldn't repair my ship at the Conceicao shipyard, shipwright treated me as if being hostile. But governor treated me as if being neutral (gave me a Letter of Marquee just for 500 gold). <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

- Yet another boarding bug: I boarded a vessel fought through topdeck, next deck was captain's cabin. He standing there, red icon flashing, so I hit him. Afterwards he cowered. Stuck... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> Killed him. Stuck... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

<b>To Pieter:</b> Would it be possible to make the new Point a Pitre model available? I got an idea for a quest, but I have to check out Point a Pitre town first, if there's a location, that could be used as a prison...

Second the only significant problem I have found is that sometimes, usually after the 2nd or third boarding in a row in big sea battle the officers still don't come over. They also did not come over when I took the English pirate at FDF. (love that pirate corvette) Also note: the people whose blades break in the boarding give up fists.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
That will still need fixing... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
Maximus made a fix for it. And, apparently, so did IncredibleHat. So now I'll need to figure out a way to not blow anything up by adding two fixes. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

4th The new gunpowder mode seems to work fine. However if you on land for a while and in a lot fights officers run out of ammo with only six rounds. I wonder if their max could match yours if you have the pouch and flask, or we could back the bag and keg.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
You can, of course, buy new ammo items from the item traders in the towns. The item max could be changed as well, of course, but I want to leave that up to Jack Davidson.

Soon POTC2 will be out in my shop and I wont to play that to see what it's like.

I notice that the movement control in the pre buil 13 mod has been changed from the mouse button to "w" and '"s".
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I did this because using the mouse buttons by default is one of the craziest ways of setting up controls that I have ever heard of. So I changed it to the W and S buttons, which are normal buttons for forward and backward movement in games these days. You can change the controls in the Options menu without any trouble. It might not have been broken, but it WAS rather weird. And changing it doesn't hurt, does it? Or are there many people who actually like using the mouse buttons for movement? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

<!--quoteo(post=154274:date=Jul 8 2006, 11:32 PM:name=SilverHawk)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(SilverHawk @ Jul 8 2006, 11:32 PM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->
Just to add I use middle mouse button for Block and not CTRL, So have to change it each time there a update.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
You can change PROGRAM\CONTROLS\init_pc.c instead of changing the controls ingame. As long as you make sure you save your init_pc.c file and put it back into your game after updating, the game will use your settings as default instead of using the original default settings as default.

I changed these controls many, many months ago. Could've been as far back as half a year ago. Never heard anyone complain until now. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

To Swindler: WOW! Those are some CRAZY BUGS! I'm afraid I have no idea how these get caused. With a bit of luck, they'll be fixed with the upcoming bugfixes. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I might make the AoP towns available then. But give me a couple of days. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Ok, how are you getting loot to go into your money and not the crew's money? It's not that way by default, and if there's a switch for it, I missed it.

Considering your score/fame are partially tied to your personal wealth, people should be thinking long and hard before messing with personal wealth too much. And especially before using personal wealth to do a lot of trading. That's just one example.

If I'm buying weapons and armor for my officers, it's coming out the ship's money, not my own. If the game changes that, I'll definitely be changing it back.

No worries. I know most games use w/s but I had never reset the controls to default until yesterday so I missed it. I have changed it back becasue old habits are hard to break.

And now a few minor things to reprot, (all on the bug tracker)

An English ship at Redmond opened fire on me for now reason while I was flying an Enclish ship and minding my own business.

Landing at Cuba is a problem only La Havana and one beach seems to work.

There is no travern keeper or shipwright in Le Havana.

Pieter: While doing some reading, I came across this little gem, and it seemed to have gotten lost, there was no replys to it and the thread kept going so even the author forgot he said it!

"Merciless Mark"
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->I wonder if anyone can see if they could find a DLL in AOP referring to DirectX? it would be nice if we could create or find a replacement for the DX8Render.dll and upgrade it to run on DX9 drivers, wich would improve performance so much. ive seen this done with several DX8 based games.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I realize a lot of you probably aren't familiar with the Wargame "Blitzkrieg", but it had a terrible flaw in the "Line Of Sight" part of it so as units could fire through things like Buildings....

Then a brand new game was released by a Russian Company using the Blitzkrieg engine called Stalingrad, and Lo and Behold, it had fixed this major problem in it's game, with a rewritten ".dll" file. This is very common in games, from one game/version/engine to another......So Merciless Mark's suggestion here makes perfect sence....

Do you thing Maximus could have a look see into the AOP game and maybe we can fix some graphics or even maybe other faults/bugs with new modern ".dll" files?

Big trouble has surfaced.

I have just recireved 3 CTDS in a row all off Turks when I try to form the map to an encounter. I tried to load mod helper to generate an error log but it said it couldn't fine engine ane wouldn't let me start the game.

The only I can thing is that this might be a bad save. Everything was working great for several hours.

I would be sceptical. Remember that Russians, if they used the same engine and was able to fix the problem, had a source code of those dlls which they was able to recompile.

The dlls are simply libraries with various functions. The .exe file uses functions from various dlls, but those functions are declared in exe file so main program is aware of calling method for any of those functions. If we replace one dll with a newer version, without informations about what functionality was added or changed, it may turn out that new dll is incompatible with old exe file.

I don't say that replacing dlls won't work - I only want to point that there's high risk of making instabilities without access to source codes.

pirate_kk

Well the 3 consecutive CTDs I reported have not reoccured. I skiped encounters went back to Tiurks and then saved again. When I went back to sea everything was working fine.

Maybe I was right and it was a bad save.

Officers may still be given powderflask & ammopouch. (12/12)
As I said in the readme: When restocking is easy done for officers, maybe 6/6 or 12/12 is enough?
I skipped the ammobag & powderbarrel to simplify things.

I put the rats in onboard. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Hey Jack,

Love the rats! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

I was confused since in the old version officers could carry any number of rounds regardless of having the keg and pouch. I think if give the pouch and flask and that takes them to twelve and they restock themselves that will be fine. You have done a great job on this,Jack.

Taking any code from one program and trying to magically just stuff it into another, is one good way to create about a few hundred bugs and problems in the process. Only really experienced, and trained programmers can do such a proper porting. I'm not saying I am one <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> I am just saying, any 'joe' should NOT attempt doing this, as nothing good could come of it.

LJS --

I think that with the conservative apprach we are taking we are making fine progress and we have a new group of modders, cooders, and bug killers in the last few months. I think they are doing a great job and am happy to take my hat off to them and defer to them.

I have noticed some of your posts seem to have and an abrasive edge to them when people disagree with you and that seems to be increasing of late. I don't think that is either necessary or appropriate for the forum. I hope you can get it under control.

It is worth a try, actually. I suppose that if it doesn't work, we'd find out soon enough. I would like to try and hyjack AoP's sea somehow. I'd have to ask Maximus about the resource files. I'll give it a try. I don't want to say it won't work before I tried it. Although I agree with Pirate_KK and IncredibleHat that it most likely won't work, so don't get your hopes up too much... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Looks like a problem with access rights of files. Try to check access rights of directory and/or files with your FTP-Client: There should somehow be a possibility to set CHMOD. It should be set to 755 for directory and 644 for files. Or:

owner: read/write/(dir only)execute
group: read/(dir only)execute
public/other: read/(dir only)execute

I don't know how to do all that. But I sent a PM to Keith and William about this VERY annoying problem.
