Pre Build 13 Modpack

I don't think there's any need to test my current testversion yet. It's probably almost just as bugged as any other version. So far, I only took out the gunpowder mod. I should have done what my intent was straight away: Take the 5 March mod and add in bugfixes only. But I didn't do that. I added in almost everything again. ARGH! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

MM's cannon fire only changed the graphics and nothing that has to do with the crew losses. It might be something that has to do with Maximus' abordage mod.

Well I added that Gunpowder mod to my build here a long time ago, well at least the Redmond store addon thingy with shot and powder....this did not create any problems so far that I saw, even during all the testing....what Gunpowder mod are you referring too, that you removed, and what was it doing.....

P.S. Pieter, mate...don't fret the small stuff me bucko, yew be doing a fine job ere matey and we all like the new toys....so I think we probably all would have done those things our selves. As for my two cents....Please just stay away from things that replace old things without choice.....by that I dont mean improvements...but like a new ship eliminating an older ship, or getting rid of some items completely to be replaced by something else.....keep it all I say!!!......
 
I mean the mod where you need gunpowder for your cannons, not the gunpowder for your pistols. This mod changes rather a lot and might be a cause of trouble.

I personally don't want to remove anything from the game either. The only exception could be when the original was obviously inferior to the new version AND the original was made by Akella. I don't want to remove any other modder's work. If you are referring to the bandages replacing the potions: I think that, unless the healing system is changed completely, potions are more "realistic" than bandages, because it's easier to believe that you could drink a potion during a battle than it is to believe that you could apply a bandage during a fight. Actually, both versions are unrelealistic, so I think we should think up something that is truly more realistic. And, more important, something that is more believable. Personally I don't care for realistic, but I do care for believability. Or, more accurate, the suspension of disbelief. The more believable the game is, the more people are immersed into the game world. You don't want to encounter things that make you go "what the heck?".

I think I agree with yer completely.....the bandages /potions thing be a good example, but I was thinking more on the lines of people replacing the "frigate1" in the game with a new "frigate1"...savvy ? The way I would replace it would be to add a "frigate315" instead.......It was brought up in these hallowed halls somewhere, where people were adding new characters into the game, but not taking a number for that character....wiser heads way back when saw the need for numbers so they didnt overwrite someones elses work....that is becoming a little undone lately....and you my friend are running ragged trying to stem the bleedin so ter speak....that aint fair to you or the ones who have gone before whos work is being copied over.....

I guess what bothers me is there are nice things on the FTP site tew be sure......but if I drag and drop over the one in my game, I lose the one that was there, and because I haven't got the handle on how to do all this stuff yet, I can't tell when this happens......."I only trust You when you tell me/us that you have new version ready and go ahead and do this..." But it seems lately people are getting into areas were others work is being copied over or made redundant, and could be lost for all times

35 in buildsettings.....what be the advantage in that, you being the "Oldtimer" here ( but I suspect not in realterms ) I have to bow to yer experience and wisdom here.....

As for that treasure....someone MUST know by now...I even PM'ed Screwface....and he hasn't even seen that...been tracked for couple weeks now???
 
JLS: Old timer is about right. The advantage is you can sail any ship, use any weapon and you are harder to kill.


Pieter, I don't to loose the fact that someone needs to look into the weapons reproduction in weapons locker. If someone could post how to take a screen shot I will be happy to post my locker with dozens of blades.

You are right! The spyglass view when you zoom in to look at ship indicates are all Portugese even though when you look at the sails/ensigns you can see the accurate nationality.
 
Yes......exactly, makes me believe that most of the bugs posted lately involving Flags and Nationalities conflicts ( shooting at friends or friendly fort/ships ) have to stem from the "flag mod" Pieter will have to track down what new stuff was entered recently that might have placed these bugs into the build.....most of this stuff was working fine when we tested for CTD's, so it has to be some fairly new refinements that some one added, or improved upon their work that has thrown this askew. And it probably is juust typo's, or wrong numbers in the wrong place....

And you were quite right to remind us earlier, about exactly what things WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED, I guess sometimes we can get frustrated and discouraged but looking back, the people here have come a long long long way.... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Not entierley true peter, in regular combat no, but i did increase them for critical hits, as i did for the hull damage on critical hits, but that is ALL

In the meanwhile that Pieter and the Great modder team are doing bugfix, I've replaced some things that don't work wery well in the last modpack with the related thing in the previous modpack.

Here there are the List of replaced things:

1) Nation Relation.
2) Anchor mechanism
3) Officers start position on land.

I think that start a new game is required for these <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

If someone is interesting on these change, tonight I can take the modifies files and upload to the ftp <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I've just make some fixes to relations and send them to Pieter; now testing.

I put a toggle on the changed anchor mechanism. I don't think it should cause major trouble. I probably know where the officer's appearance bug gets caused, but I don't know how to fix it. Nations might be fixed by you now. Crew losses I can't explain at all. Well as the build 13 base version, I reverted to the march 5 update, and almost all the crazy bugs I have reported are completely non-existant.

I think that the problem should be related on some charaters and something that happen when them died.
I have played with a hold version of the postbuild that already had corpsemode withoud have a CTD for months.

I've seen that with Ammo mod disabled the ammount of CTD is definitely decreased.

I'm trying to understand here.....we have <b>bugs</b> that have been documented, but not explained or even admitted to.....being caused by.....or possibly the fault of....???

Now we have people who are not involved in the <b>causes</b>, but have possible solutions, and their only fault is that, their mastery of English is a little shakey, <b>BUT</b> I think I believe what they are saying, but not a hundred percent sure what they are saying, is that <b>THEY</b> have solved the <b>BUGS</b> that have been plaguing us, but that we don't know that for sure..........

<i>OH BOY</i>!....did I go out on a limb here.....this sounds so great, but not sure I understand yet!


Pieter...this is why they <b>PAY</b> you the big bucks for.........???????

- Flag Bugs
- Going ashore bugs
- Officers running from Lord's no where Bugs

Still have Crew Casualities bugs (just when enemy ship surrend without fight).
