Pre Build 13 Modpack

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Meigger,

Yes I always play stormy start.

I was afraid the crew might be a problem again.

Cargo weight has been changed for a bit, so hopefully you can now add more into your cargo space.

Also: Something that is, I think, pretty neat is that if you choose a different nation at the start of the game, you will start at that nation's island and the tutorial will work on all islands; not only at Oxbay.

So what are the most important bugs in this latest release? Apart from the crew not appear during boardings?

Here is what I have noticed:

Fixed or not appearing: Forts attacking their own nation's ships.

All ships in a battle appering hostile and attacking you regardless of nationality.

Returning problems:

Boarding crew:

Not showing up, see above
Number of crew reduced to five total, was higher in the last couple of modpacks

All captives have the same ransonm, that was fixed in the previous update.

Conitning probelm: Irrational rep loss due to sea battles, even arising out of pirate hunting.

More later.

Those bugs seem to be caused by files that have been modified since March 5th. But for this version, I kept the old versions into the pack to see if it would work properly with the old files instead of the new ones Apparently, they do not work properly either.

I think something somewhere in nations.c is pretty messed up. Pirate_KK said he was working on a fix, so I'm hoping he'll have one soon. That should hopefully fix the relations, as well as the reputation loss.

The crew members were set in LAi_boarding.c. In this modpack version, we used the old LAi_boarding.c file. When I have time, I will try to merge the old with the new and see if I can get it fixed hat way... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Pieter. Reloaded everything again, still cannot buy items in the Oxbay story. Started new game with Malcolm etc. You can sell, but you cannot buy. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

I think I found what you mean. You click the buy button, but you can't use the arrows to actually set an amount to buy, right? I noticed that too. The interface must've gotten messed up. I'll check it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Yep, that's it. Thanks Pieter. I was hoping I would not have to reload everything again. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

In the meantime: I think extracting PROGRAM\INTERFACE\store.c from a previous version would probably fix it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

One more, you can't buy or sell cargo in the store on Isla Muelle. You can buy and sell personal stuff, but not the cargo.

Another point, if we are inseting gold and silver as cargo, don't you think there should be some rationale for pricing based on what the gold nugget personal item is worth?

One more thing the text on the game loading screen is in Russian, all sound and all other text are in English in the USA version.

BTW those new screens are fabuolous! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

A couple more:

Fixed: The enemy have the right clothes during boarding

Broken: When landing on QC for the fist time, the Nigel Blythe dialogue is broken. He stops hitting Artois and says : of all the 500 people I could run in to it had to be you and then you can't do anything.

The fast travel icon for the church on Isla Muelle is the fort. If we are going to put an icon in there it should be the church, don't you think.

One more point on gold and silver as cargo. Shouldn't gold be more valuble than silver on every island?

Oh! and on the store on IM you can sell cargo, but you can't buy it.

Minor issue. The town outdoor merchant inside Oxbay town is co-mingled with a town character. However, you only get the town character dialog, so you cannot buy or sell merchandise.

I couldn't buy cargo on Redmond either.

Finally, While attacking a pickpocket in the Redmond tavern, she scremed at me in what I believe was Russian. It was not English. I ran the English batch file and the run me file.

You should run English.bat only. Don't run RunMe.bat after that. Not sure what will happen if you do, but it's not required, so don't do it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

I think I have a fix for Nigel Blythe's character dialog that Maximus made yesterday. I'll test it and put it in.

A fast travel icon picture for the churches doesn't exist, so we'd have to make one to be able to use it.

Gold is supposed to cost 40 * GOODS_PRICE_SCALAR and silver is supposed to cost 28 * GOODS_PRICE_SCALAR, so according to the code, gold is supposed to cost more than silver. Strangely enough, gunpowder costs 100 * GOODS_PRICE_SCALAR! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

Is the town outdoor merchant inside Oxbay town always co-mingled with a town character? I will check it.

The not being able to buy cargo bug seems to appear everywhere. I think resetting the previous store interface file should fix it.

Pieter. Merchant seems to always be co-mingled with a townsperson. Seem stuck together. One of the guards going to the port (right side going out to port I believe) has the same problem with a priest, but they eventually seperate.

Hmm. I'll check that when I have time. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

I thought the not being able to buy cargo bug had something to do with some changes Maximus made to the store interface screen. However, I didn't put those changed into this update, so that can't be the cause. Then what IS the cause??? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Pieter,

I think the new way of weighing cargo will work out fine. The price of Gold and Silver, however needs some work.

1. On gold nugget in peresonal items is worht over 1900. There is going have to be some logic to the price of the cargo gold that relates to this, and by extension silver. Gunpowder should not be more expensive. The only way the existing pricing makes any sense is if the gold and silver are in the form of unprocessed ore and even then the prices are still to low. Try this

Gold: $32 per ounce (the regulated price in in the US prior to deregulation) was was worth ( very) roughly $14 in 1790. 14 X 1792 ounces per cwt = 25088 price per cwt of gold. You see the problem. Silver would be more like $8 I think. I may not have the numbers exactly right, but I think the scale is right. The problem is in the cost per unit I think. 1 CWT = 112 pounds.

I guess you could work this another way which might be more reasonable.

Start with pounds Sterling and make the price of silver 112/cwt and gold something like 165.

Hope this helps.

Another issue: First time you go to Pirate Island and you see the two men Altios and Blayth fighting. You do not get all the dialog and game freezes. Dialog says "On you way," on something like that only. Tried several reload of saves and same thing resulted. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

I have fixes for the not-being-able-to-buy-goods bug, as well as for the Artois/Nigel dialog being messed up. I will make those fixes available later today. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Pieter,

That is good. Is there any timetable for putting back the other boarding - surrender mod? (more boarders/talk ot the Captain)

I may be wrong, but I think if we could get that fixed, working and in along with Sir Henry's new Hawk flag and sail and the fixes you are going to do today we would have somethting we could call Build 13.

What do you think?
