Sorry to be dense, but exactly how does one extract a line? When I unzip I use the Windows XP wizard which gives you a chance to say yes or no to files, not lines?
 
Lines? I said "files", didn't I? You should extract one file at a time. No need extracting things line-by-line. You'd go crazy then! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
I hope you manage to extract it one file at a time. If not, try a program like WinZip or WinRAR.

Yep. I hope that will work with one file at a time. It's just 6 files, so it should be doable. Ahoy Pieter,

The first file in 4.1 Program\Controls\int.pc.c did not cause any problems. Unless you tell me differnt I am not going to start a new game every time but just pick up the save. I did start the new game when I started with 4.1. I should be able to test the other five files tomorrow.
 
To test initItems.c and ccclocations.c a new game is required. Not sure about the other files. I would recommend starting a new game for each file; just to be sure. Not sure what would happen otherwise.

If you can test the other five files tomorrow, that'd be great. I would really like to release a good update this weekend. You have gone long enough with horrible bugs and no new stuff.
 
I think the culprit might be program \nt.items.c. I got a crash in my first visit to a ship yard.

Howerver, I might have have installed the whole 4.1 first by mistake. If I just reinstall 3.1 will that overwrite the 4.1? If not how far back to I have to go?

I have reinstalled 3.1 and am playing the second file in 4.1, Program\int.items.c.

I have one CTD which I don't feel is related to the game but something that happened in my system, <b>but</b>, I ogt a freeze in the shipyard and this error log. Since it is similar if not exactly the error logs we get with CTDs I think it is worth a look.

Eureka! Well at least I have found one. The file most recently added is <b>program \int.items.c.</b>

If you look over my last few posts you will see one CTD in shipyard, a freeze in a shipyard, reference to another CTD and this <b>CTD going to the map from Concieaco.</b>

This definitely the old CTD.

Eureka! Well at least I have found one. The file most recently added is <b>program \int.items.c.</b>

If you look over my last few posts you will see one CTD in shipyard, a freeze in a shipyard, reference to another CTD and this <b>CTD going to the map from Concieaco.</b>

This definitely the old CTD.

Hello,
Wanted to help a bit, i don't know much about bug finding, i have installed the 3-1 correction on top of the 05-03-06 build, i had the program terminate after 1 hour of play ,just outside of paraise de fleur, fighiting on open sea against two pirate ships, it was daytime and the sea was calm, after some shot fired as the ships neared mine, the system gave an error message an closed the game.

i don't know if this can help, i'll try to test in different conditions and on different islands, i have passed quite some time on land in the city, and i had no troubles.

EDIT:

I can confirm this, i can fully walk on land, i can navigate, but as soon i enter in a situation in wich there is a sea battle, small or big i got the error message and the game quit.
In an occasion i entered in a sea battle between spanish andenglish ships and i just had time to load and hear the cannons and the game quitted.
I have installed the mercilessmark mods, Merciless_cannon FX-2.92, Merciless's_M&C_Cannons 1.0, Merciless'sCannonflash and RealisticWaes Mid 1.1 by kiwisDoFly

Maybe that's the source of the problem? some incompatibility?


I'm sorry if this is not useful or you alredy know about it, i have read the posts but maybe you alredy know about this.
 
Oww, thanks for reminding me. merciless cannon flash is now gone.

Cannon_flash is the old version of my cannon mod, now known as CannonFX,

M&C Cannons, CannonFX 2.92 are compatible with post build , i beleive realistic waves is part of post build, however the thing with the post build mod is you just cant install just any mod on top of it, unless its designed for a particular version, since the files are interlaced.

What pieter does when he includes new mods is add the modified and new code lines into the existing files. so preferrably you should add mods on top of post build, however cannonFX will be present in the next post build update <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> but the current version works fine too its not involved in the CTD's

I tested some more, i'm sorry, it was not the 3-1 that caused the problem, it was the the mod Merciless's_M&C_Cannons 1.0, that caused the trouble,i reinstalled everything more than once to test every single mod i had installed to see if it was a my problem, so now i have played for some time with the 3-1 and the previous mods installed (apart the Cannons 1.0 mod) without a problem so far.

I think is my sound card that have some kind of problem, IF i suceed to find the drivers and all, i think i'll solve the problem, is happened in the past also with other games that sounds mod caused only to my computer problems, while friends could enjoy them at the fullest my computer suffered crashes <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" />

So to any other users that could read this, don't have fear to use Merciless's_M&C_Cannons 1.0, it causes problem with my computer for problems that are only of my computer.
 
Hello Pieter, just tested the 4.1 update file......Programs/Locations/init/ccclocations.c

Didnt seem to be any problems with CTD's but sea combat is lagged big time. Had one man o war I fought on main deck...that was it. Then I could not captured it, even though I had plenty of officers and only one other ship. Wemt to board a French Corvette, and then CTD'ed. But in and out of Ports and shipyards, no problems

BLAST! In that case it's been my fault all along. I changed that file to make excellent items sellable and make only fine and good items sold from the traders. I checked that code several times and I really don't quite understand why it should cause crashes. I will try and do something about it. PIeter, it was a good idea. This is how we make progress. Also if we fix this we will still need to be sure that there isn't something else in one of the other files.
 
I am currently working on the next update. I think I have it ready now, but I need to playtest for a bit. I rewrote initItems.c for a bit in the hope that it will be working now.
