Can we please convert the Dutch to the Dutch West Indies Company?
I really like the idea of having a sort of para-military trading company in the region. Lots of wealth, but really hard to take!
 
I think we should add the WIC, yes. Would be excellent. And would give the Dutch a purpose in the game. I think we should give every nation a specific purpose in the game.

England, France, the US, and Spain battle for control of the Caribbean while the Portugese have a large navy, but a good bit of merchant traffic as well. The Dutch are mostly merchants, but do have the ability to wage war! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Yes I agree. I think I mentioned earlier in the thread that each nation should have specific objectives to achieve through the completion of various missions.

Right im doing FX, but i got no knowladge of how to implement things and create new functions.
So as usual ill share my ideas instead of keeping them bottled up in my head.

- Singular cannon fire: ability to fire each cannon one by one at designated target
- Ability to lock or unlock the horizontal arc, allowing for greater precision with using the ship itself to target.
- Raking ability, to rake enemies from stem to stern, all the guns fire in sequence from aft to fore or vice versa instead of randomly firing(this could also be linked up with the first idea)
- Weak sterns, firing trough the stern of ships would cause tremendous damage, hull and crew damage should like 4 or 5 times than a regular cannon ball strike, it would add more strategy to the game. this would also work together well with the first two ideas
- wheel knockoff, knock off the rear wheels of the guns to get elevation in firing in order to attempt to dismast ships, Setbacks: Guns would take 3 times longer to reload after theyve been fired(this would be the crew pulling them back in and sticking the wheels back on)

So what do you guys think of these ideas? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

P.S. I'm not quite sure how to mod quests, so if there is a tutorial out there will someone please give me a link.

Is it possible to make more than one main quest? I.e. one for a british captain, one for a french captain, etc...

Also, is it possible to, instead of having the Black Pearl, have the Santissima Trinidad, a 130-gun spanish ship at Trafalgar, or the Bucentaur, admiral Villenueve's flagship at Trafalgar, or, if the person is playing the French main quest (if possible) the Victory (every one here should know what ship this is).
 
It is quite possible to make more than one main quest. The best would be to not restrict the main quests to the nation of the player character, but make it so that you can play all main quests in the same game. So first you play the English one, then you join the Dutch and play that one. You can make, in theory, an infinite amount of quests that would all work in the same game.
 
If You need anything from Cpt.Toddydude for this mod i would be more then welcome. Ive always have been a big fan of that era.

3 things:

1. This mod is post-Build 12-compatible, right? If so, then can you make it possible for the blacksmith to fix guns. (if he can't already, i haven't done a lot with the Post B12)

2. With all due respect, the former naval officer skins have stunk, so could someone please put in a nice and gaudy, epauletted skin for naval officers?

3. Please add a quest in which you must blockade a (nation of the user's choice) port, for example,. there are about fifteen small merchant ships (barques, yachts, luggers, galeoths, etc...) that you have to destroy in a set time, and your monetary reward is dependent upon how many merchants you destroy/capture?

The Conceicao blacksmith in the Post Build 12 mods fixes guns instead of blades. I once tried to make blacksmiths fix both guns and blades and still have the code lying around. I never finished it though. So I did the simplest other thing: I made the Conceicao fix guns instead of blades.

If anybody wants to try to make blacksmiths fix both guns and blades, have a look at the Gunsmith_dialog.c files in the DIALOGS folder, which contains the code I have been working on.

If anybody manages to do this, it should be a part of the Post Build 12 modpack and shouldn't be in an add-on.
 
Should be possible. Simply change the name and reintroduce them into the game. Maybe change the pictures for the double shot for a bit. And maybe change the damage code for the double shot for a bit as well.
