I read two books <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" /> a while ago called "<i>My Story Trafalgar</i>" and "<i>My Story Armada</i>" and they gave me an idea, it is probably hard coded but would it be possible to be able to use more than one type of gun on a ship, like 6 pounder bow or stern chasers and cannonades (or Smashers), we definitely need more types of cannons and the ability to hold different types of cannons on different parts of the ship.
 
well I know if your cannons are destroyed during a fight you can tak ethe cannons from a captured ship, even if they are a different size... not sure how the game treats them though.
 
I think that drops them all down to the size of the cannon you capture. So if you're carrying 24lbs and your enemy has 18's you'll end up carrying them instead.

I've looked in the ship init.c file to see if this could be changed, but haven't found a wat to do it yet.

I need an update. Whats finished and whats in progress? Also, if you're on the P&E mod team, or would like to be on it, give your name, job, etc. Then I can post you on the Mod Team Roster and keep things orginized. (So we don't get one skinner and ten shipbuilders or something like that.)

I think that instead of removing Portugal, you should either remove the Dutch, or make a whole new island, because in the Napoleonic wars, Portugal was England's only ally. The Dutch were not <i>extremely</i> important in this era, but it is rather challenging to only have one or three ports of call.
 
Well, I think to clone a nation might be possible, but very tough. Also, Spain was England's Ally... from time to time... *rolls eyes* Come to think 'bout it... France was an ally too.... for a year. Remember, Hornblower actually recieved honors from a Frenchman while commanding the <i>Hotspur</i>! LOL!

Where's that list? Whats finished and whats in progress?

Seriously, I am greatly looking forward to this mod, but I don't want to see the Dutch removed. Ever. The Dutch might not be so important then, but I want to be able to change the course of history and take over the Caribbean for the Dutch, crush any American opposition and make the Netherlands the leading country of the world! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />
 
I have some experience with changing nations and relations between them so I can share my knowledge and give some helpful hand.

Adding new nation is possible, but it must be done very carefully. Certain parameters and arrays must be modified to achieve this (i.e. MAX_NATIONS) and added new define for new nation (i.e. #define UNITED_STATES 9). The dynamic change of relations between nations is possible and quite easy, I think: all data are stored in array "NationsRelations[]". I don't know how to add an island, but creators of New Island Mod should know how to do that well.

Finally, we don't need to remove any country at all; we can add new one. We could also implement a dynamically changing relations between separate nations - something which could be welcome in pure Build, I think.

Changing relations would be a brilliant addition. Especially if there were attacks between nations every now and then with scenes such as on Saint Martin.

The new islands were ported from the SLiB mod. Unfortunately, we don't really know how to add new islands ourselves. I suppose we could figure out though. We could also "hyjack" one of the new islands and make it American. Then we don't need to add any new islands, but we would have the Americans in the archipelago as well.

To Pirate_KK: Do you know how to add the Americans to the ship encounters though? That might be hardcoded... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

But I believe that if we increase the number of nations by one and properly setup everything this should be done automatically. Anyway I'll check the code and report my conclusions here.

Good, I'd prefer not to delete a nation completely.
 
I like all these speculations and ideas that are finally starting to take form.
Now let's put them into action.
I NEED a list of whats finished and whats under way. When you finish something, notify me and e-mail the file(s) to me.
If you're not a part of the P&E team, but are making ships, skins, or any other mod that could fit in this mod, feel free to send it to me.
 
First of all there were lots of extra Islands in the "SEA DOGS" game that could be added to the "Build", lets face it, a lot of the stuff we got came from there. Also the new AOP...might be usefull.

We KNOW that new islands can be added, so lets not worry about that, cause it can be done, and adding Americans can be done, so great!! Now we have 2 out of 3 is possible. If we can add new nations we have it made.

P.S. So much effort is being made on separate mods or addons, that is makes me wonder if the WHOLE thing could be done as One!
 
Aye, that is a fantastic solution, however, this mod will begin in the year 1776, and as a captain, you shall decide which course to take and shape the history of the world. The game will finally end in 1820, a few years after the surrender of Napoleon.
 
please, make just an NEW island in the map, AND a new nation I saw it is possible,
so why dont we do that?
if that is ready I will do the name stuff and the charracters in the game
also im wannin to make a new questline but dunno how to do.

Again, I need a list of whats done and whats in progress! That way, I can prioritize and keep this mod running.
 
Has it been determined if it is possible to add the Mediterranean/English Channel/American coast?

It is possible, but it would be a most difficult task, requiring a lot of time and effort. Its best that we stay in the Caribbean... for now. *grins*
