I've noticed that my card reader's cables won't fit in any place on the motherboard. That means I'll have to get a new card reader asap.

I hope the USB-ports on the case itself will connect.

And what is a 1349 cable for? It is connected to the case but the only thing I read in the manual about it, was to not stick it here. Not here and not here either.
But where then, manual, where then!?

Assuming it's what you said earlier you were going to buy, which is the Antec Edge 750:

then the back probably looks like this:

You probably won't need all the cables. Drives will need one each, the graphics card may need one, and the motherboard will probably need two. A photo of the cables (which doesn't seem to exist on Antec's site) may help, but basically, the cables should be physically impossible to plug into places they're not supposed to go. Find cables which will plug into all the devices that need power, find sockets on the power supply which fit the other ends, and don't bother attaching the cables that you don't need. That's the whole point of having separate cables, you can leave out the ones you don't need and save clutter inside the finished PC.

You do not need a new card reader, that was an oversight on my part. The cable that came with the one that you ordered needs to be routed from the reader, through the case and out the back to plug in to one of the USB ports on the I/O pnel on the back of your motherboard. You can get an internal cable to connect to one of the internal connectors to make it look better, I will find you one, they are only a few bucks.

I hope the USB-ports on the case itself will connect.

I am assuming that the 1394 connector you are asking about is on your case? Your motherboard does not have a 1394 connection, it is basically an obsolete connector, so you can ignore it. Unless you have something that specifically requires that connection, then there are ways to add it, like and add-on board.

All the connector ports on your power supply are labeled, the large M/B connectors are the main power for your motherboard, the small M/B connector is for the CPU power connector.

I checked more than twenty times, but the cable is aligned like it should and it does go on to the plug, but only two thirds of the way. I went and searched on the interwebs for hours and only found people who had the same problem, but didn't care enough to put it on, after they found out it didn't work. I would like to be able to plug my headset into the front end of my computer, though, because if I plug it in from the back, there is not much cable left. Of course, there are extension cables, but I don't want to "just give up, I don't care enough, anyway".

The smaller part of the end of the cable I put in to the smaller M/B hole and it, again, looked like they are made for each other. Then, the CPU cable can't go into the M/B connector, because it is taken. For now I just put it into the connector that says +12v2. This picture may explain a lot: . The connection between my DVD/CD drive and the motherboard is gone now too. I used to have this really thick and bulky cable with a rainbow of smaller cables to connect them, but now a connector for such cable is missing on my new motherboard. It does look like I would be able to connect them through a Thunderbolt wire. I have not tested this theory, because we don't have such a wire. And I wanted to switch this one out in the near future anyway, because it doesn't look right: . There is a more important reason though: Whenever I put a disk in it would close itself automatically with me just barely managing to put the disk in safely every time!

It is kind of tough to tell in that picture because of the angle, but those 3 pin wide connectors appear to be single pin and not double. Which means that both those three pin connectors will fit on one USB header, starting on the left side of the header. The 2 single pin connectors are ground and both go on the 4'th pins. The single 9'th pin is not used by that connector. Here is a diagram of the USB 2 motherboard header.

Sometimes a little force is needed, as long as the pins were not bent, you should be good.

The CPU power connector may plug in to the 12v1 connector next to the small M/B connector, again, my apologies, it is tough to see everything from 5000 miles away.

By that description, it sounds like to me that your old DVD drive is an IDE drive, it will not work with your new motherboard. You will need to order a new DVD drive with a SATA connector. They are fairly cheap.

What does the P stand for? And it looks like all the USB2 connectors are all taken by the case USB ports

In that diagram, it just stands for Positive, the pin is actually +5V. You will have to decide if you want your card reader more than the second front USB connectors.

I would like to be able to use all of them, of course, so I'll probably buy another card reader but with USB 3.1 (or 3.0) or maybe a splitter-thingy for inside.
The HardwareOutlet is closed tomorrow, so I think I'll buy a new card reader and a DVD/CD drive on monday. I'll ask them if they know and have anything.

They both fit without needing to take cables out!

I installed them and it was as easy as installing a hard drive!

Now everything should be good for the big moment!
I would've liked it if someone who has more experience checked it, but I can't have everything, of course..

Does anyone have any tips for checking if a computer is ready to go?

As long as you have double checked the power cables are all in the correct place, and the CPU cooler is seated properly with thermal grease, you should be good to go. There is really only one way to know for sure, just plug your monitor in and make sure the power is on to it, then hit the main power on switch! Good luck, and have fun installing stuff!

After it was turned on for about two hours I turned it off, but when I was going to show my dad it was working an hour or so later it did nothing. yay
