New character

The stuff Im working on could use models like that, though unless someone else wants to put a part into any of these charactors, they'll probably just be walking in the background.

It is the same texture - what I did was to modify the model and put the head on the right body for the "talking head scenes"... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> And yes, it is hard to see in these, but she do have them pointy bits girls tend to have... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Lass, what exactly do you have in mind with poser? I dunno about animating with it, but you *can* convert models from it to POTC (did it once with a horse). Might have been converting through a number of formats/programs, but if you want I can look it up.

Hey, great idea!
Can you create an offset of man.ani, where everything is 1.5m off the ground?
Then we can hide the pchar's (moving) legs inside the horse, and use a model of a horse with legs attached, and place the horse on top of the pchar say 20x per second.
With edited ani's we should be able to change anim speed, i.e. have the pchar walk faster.

No real use I can think of, other than the wow factor, though.

Heh no, the horse is only meant to be standing somewhere motionless (like zozogh's cow), don't think we have a fair chance to ever get it animated.
(to be fair, what you suggest to just move it about with the pchar would be quite doable, but more effort than the effect is worth.)

Reason I mentioned the horse at all is because I thought maybe Lass would know the model - with my poser version it's among the stock objects.

And seconding the WOW to Lass and Petros - and sorry I've not yet gotten back to you - but I'm working on nice things for you both (and of course everybody else) to use.
 
Well, there is the stock models that comes with Poser, yes. Horse, dolphin and so on. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Horses, dogs, chicken and such could be fun to at least see in the game as stationary objects, as we hear them all the time and there seems to be stables and such about too. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

The low-polygon models are easily moved to a .wrl, but I was mostly thinking about human models - I know a bit about modifying them in Poser, and it could be a nice was to make whole new models.

Mind you, there is a lot that can be done by tweaking and combing models too. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

So there is no need to really get Poser involved. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />


I would like to know, though - could we make models for "dummies" that simply stand about, like cows, horses, dogs and such? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

We got little lizards and rats running about, so why not let the stock animal be around too, if inanimate? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />
 
To High Sea Lass: If you like, could you please fix the locator problems on many of the female models, so that they can use swords and pistols properly? Well, the only fix I know of right now also wrecks their animation for any lady with a skirt. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

The solution is simple, though:<ul><li> Start up Inez's tool</li><li> Set the animation to female.an</li><li> Load Danielle</li><li> Save her Locators to file</li><li> Load the selected .gm model</li><li> Load the saved Locators</li><li> Resave as a .gm</li><li> Rename the original file to .old.gm or such (just to be on the safe side)</li><li> Rename the new <i>whatever</i>_x.gm to the original name</li></ul>And you are all fixed up! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

<span style='color:red'>Edit:</span> I reckon the most troublesome models are Beatrice, Girl Patch and Lady in Red. If I remember correctly, their swords end up in weird places when fighting and their guns are nowhere to be found. So if you could fix those, that'd be great. Though you probably can't fix Girl Patch as she has a skirt. Would be great if we only could add the proper locators to all girl models... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

About Locators: why not save the locators from Danielle to a file and reload them into the models that need fixing?
