New Horizon is great, but only if it gets ported to Maelstrom. As it is now, it just brings me a lot of trouble when playing it on the old 2.0 engine...
 
[New update is on the way]

- 5 new playable characters (45 in all)
- new textures
- fixed a bug with captains not spawning in random quests with luggers
- starting ship now changed to Merchant brig
- improved weather system

- fixed ugly Will Turner portrait photo
- new World map island textures
- new World map sea textures
- New ship and fort flags
- added 5 new characters
- removed Angelica and replaced her with Anne Bonny
- new sea foam textures

I didn't know that you can play "POTC New Horizons" with the "Maelstrom" engine, I'm interested in trying it out.

Do you have to follow the same steps as for playing Gof 1.2 and Gof ERAS?

You can play, ufortunately the build that is available is from 2016. It needs to be updated to 2018 build. I tried to achieve that, but didn't have luck because some scripts need to be adapted to the Storm 2.8 engine. But the 2016 build plays just fine, though it has some small bugs. However, the graphics are amazing. Too bad that NH developers are not trying to port the mod to Maelstrom, it would be such a good thing.

Anyway, if you wanna try the mod, grab it at this link:
New Horizons by ChezJfrey (itch.io)

Just extract the mod in any folder and then extract the Malestrom (I use x64 bit version) in the sam folder and play the game.

Still, you managed to achieve so much with your mod. Because of the engine upgrade, the game became so much more enjoyable and with all enhancements implemented you created one of the best versions of COAS out there as well. That's already an incredible achievement :)
