CoAS Combined Mod Version

The Pink ingame is called Cutter1 in CMV3.1 that will be changed in CMV3.2 to Light Cutter. You could rename the discription to be based around the Light Cutter.
Speaking of which, what file contains the names for the ships? I can't seem to find it.

Also, there are a number of ships (Bounty, Edinburgh) which seem to reference a specific ship, either from history or the PotC canon. While this is probably fine in the build mod (where I assume most of them were ported from), it seems a little odd for a class of ship that we see (and likely sink) on a regular basis to be described as a single vessel. I'm going to write new descriptions for these for now, and you're welcome to change them back if you don't like them. In fact, I believe the Edinburgh would be the third ship in the mod that is identical to the Bounty, as it is based on the Edinburgh from Dead Man's Chest, which was in fact the HMS Bounty from Mutiny on the Bounty.
 
In the PotC Build Mod, although the model folder names do have the historical/movie ship name in there, no such reference ends up onscreen.

I imagine CoAS is going to have ship type names in a similar spot to PotC: RESOURCE\INI\TEXTS\English\common.ini

I suspected as much. Hopefully over the course of the next couple of iterations of the Combined Mod, we can weed out the little things like this. I realize how young the combined mod is, so I understand the rough edges, but I believe it has reached a point where we can begin to smooth things out whilst still moving forward with the improvement of the gameplay.

Also, thanks for pointing me to Common.ini

Have you renamed the LuggerVML, Luke? If not, what shall I rename it to?
 
Yep RESOURCE\INI\texts\russian = common is what effects the ships onscreen names, but for some ships you will have to look in the ship_init file for which ship it is.

One of these hybreads is the Schooner Xebec just as agile and fast as the Xebec its everything the Xebec is and what the Schooner wishes it was, with 24 cannons the Schooner Xebec carries 4 more cannon than most Xebecs due to that she looses a little cargo space but thats no big lose really.
Dunno who wrote that, but I have a strange urge to find them and bite them.

Well, I won't bite you. xD: I'm just a bit of a grammar Nazi. It was actually quite a good description, which is why it survived my editing mostly intact. I simply took it and cleaned it up a bit.

Yes your discription is much better, i just wasn't happy with the copy and paste of discritions all the time so i made that one up and although it was not too good it was indeed much better than copying the Xebec discription and leaving it at that. I look forward to reading the new discriptions for all the new ships, because i like the new Schooner Xebec discription. :onya

I hope to improve a few of them. Could I ask you for a copy of your new ship-related files? So I know what ships you have removed, renamed, etc? In fact, I could release them along with the books mod, if that releases ahead of patch 2. If you want.
 
You could rename the Schooner Xebec to something like Heavy Schooner; we did something like that in the PotC Build Mod. I think Schooner Xebec sounds sort-of fake. It's a schooner hull, but xebec-rigged, so you can just call it a xebec. :shrug

I was actually thinking of what I could do with that, but it's not really my ship, or my mod, for that matter, though I seem to think it is :rolleyes:
Kind of like I hijacked FireBat's book mod, though he seems to enjoy having someone else do the work for him. xD:

Some of the ships could use a renameing. We have a few duplicate names, for example Cutter1, cutter2 etc. If they could be given more accurate names, then all the better.

We were discussing exactly that earlier in this thread, which is what led us to where we are now. Apparently Luke has already renamed a number of those in preparation for patch 2. I had hoped to get a copy of his files so that I knew what had been changed and removed, but I think he left before I asked.
 
Totally agree. Several of those smaller ships would be better catagorized as Pinks, Snows, and Hookers. Agree with Pieter totally on Heavy or even Three Masted Schooner. The Xebec is honestly out of place in the Caribbean. It is an extremely low freeboard ship built for Mediterranean coastal waters and would not have done well either in Atlantic crossings or Caribbean storms. I'm on leave the next couple weeks while moving to my new job in Virginia. I have time to do several things. One, I will take a quick look at the ships init file and give my opinion about accurate ships names. Two, will answer Luke's question on period cannon accuracy with some actual researched numbers. And three, I had it in my head that we had something on MODDB talking about the CM mod, but it isn't the case. Getting senile I guess. If you guys have something you've put together I'd be happy to edit it or add to it.

Yes had to go out, in this version i have renamed some ships, including the Schooner Xebec as Pierter said to Heavy Schooner, i have not removed the HMS Bounty or 12 Gun Cutter in this version. I want to leave them out till i have finished testing and searching for this damn ship bug (ship_68 could not be generated).

I noticed a mistake in the common config file where as you know we have two version of the Enterprise (one is a 14 gun ship and the other is a 24 gun ship) The new version can mount 14 guns and the original can mount 24. In the common config the original was nammed Enterprise but it had one entery that read Enterprize which is the name of the new Enterprise. So i fixed that (confussed yet) and then i thourght no it will be too confussing xD: so i have named the original Enterprise Battle Enterprise. So to recap New Enterprise is now called Enterprise was Enterprize. Original Enterprise was called Enterprise is now called Battle Enterprise. That is less confussing and makes sense since the Battle Enterprise can mount an extra 10 guns.

I have been doing alot of work on acceleration and braking for the ships (porting over from POTC)
 
I have a question for you, Luke. Will the Trade Overhaul Mod 1.7 be included in its entirety with Patch 2?
More specifically, if I make an installer right now for 3.1, would it be best if I include Trade Overhaul 1.7, or leave it out?
 
Op has already added the trade overhaul mod 1.7 to the second patch, i believe and is awaiting the stuff i'm working on to be uploaded and anything else people are working to be released then he'll add them to the second patch, then i beliebe patch 1 and 2 will be comined and then CMV3 and the fully updated patch will be combined making a single exe which will then be put on the modDB site.
