Mod Release Build 14 Beta 3 Progress

That is usually a hardware problem and sure enough, at the bottom of the system log it says no memory. Mayhaps it be time to put the puter in drydock for some maintenance? I use IOBit Advanced System Care and Smart Defrag2. It comes with something called Turbo Boost and when I turn it on it turns off 22 things that are not needed.
 
Oooohh found it! ..i think..:p It seems it's been acting weird when i edited my islands.c applying comment #1425. :shrug
..not entirely sure but re-installed the whole thing and merge the files i modified except that islands.c file and all good again.:dance

This is the correct copy of the file; goes in PROGRAM\ISLANDS .

What if, I have the IOBit Advanced System Care Pro, is it still recommended to have the Smart Defrag2? 'cause I'm now using the two.
 
Is there a way to delay the repetition of the music files in battle and sailing ? In PROGRAM/SOUND/ sound.c there is #define_music_silence_time 135. But even at 935 I see no difference ?! Also what's #define_music_change_time 3000 for ? I pasted a heavy classic file that should go well with cannon fire, but repeated often for one battle is kind of distasty. Should play just twice, in the beginning and at the end. Otherwise is like a soup...

I use both. ASC is set to a daily schedule and I use SD2 2-3 times a week. The more modding one does the more it is needed. Methinks TOOL is the one that explodes the HD the most.

Without creating a new music scheme I am afraid, just with renaming some files.

Everyone, can the ammount of splashes from cannonballs be reduced somehow. I find this extremely unrealistical:

Im passed with trying to fix that to trivial. Iv downloaded the new archives from moddb and reinstalled,works ok now but lost my customised nathaniel save. Should have backed up first,silly me. I'll have to start again my my i'll try another storyline.

I don't think those are from the cannonballs. When you HIT another ship, there's lots of debris flying around and when that hits the water, you get splashes all around the ship.

I'm not entirely sure on those music questions; Hook did some stuff with that in the past, that much I know.
Perhaps Baste knows something too; he has done work on the music system as well. But he's not around very often.
 
While playing the Nat Hawk story I have noticed that the only officers whose skills are improving are the 3 who accompany me on land and the captains of my other ships.

The other officers that are assigned to posts are not having their skills or levels increased. :(

I know it used to be the case that only the officers that accompanied you got their skills & levels increased, but I thought that had been changed and now all officers, whether they accompany you or not, received skill and XP increments. Or am I confused :read

I have theShared Experience Ability as do some of the Officers who come with me on land ( some of them do not have it but still get XP and skill increases )


I am playing Beta 3 - 1 October version - in Arcade mode.

That never has worked as planned. The ones that accompany you always advance the fastest because they are actively doing things, but the ones that stay aboard ship advance some too. It seems that when you do something that gets lotsa experience the ones with you get more of it.
 
The rewritten officer system never was finished and polished 100%. It was only brought to a level where it was playable. :(
 
I would prefer the officers not to accompany me. They are so quick that always manage to get a central space in the land screenshots. I can tell them "stay here" but untill the town gates, then again.. Weren't there before some time only bodyguards, not officers, to accompany you ? With skills only in melee and gunfighting ? I don't see them any more ?!

Can someone tell me what is wrong with this file to crash the game ? I changed some things and now it crashes. I copied a new file from a working Beta 3 with no effect ?! On top I don't see error message any more..

I don't see anything clearly wrong in the coding there. Please show the .log files from after the crash.
 
please also provide the error.log
