Mod Release Build 14 Beta 3 Progress

The Graphic Anomalies are still there and the video card used makes no difference.

Indeed the Chieftains music is more appropriate than 90% of the music currently in the game, and should be included.

Thanks will try. So where do i download the latest final upload is the one at the first page download link, the one? Or is it at that moddb page?
ModDB is good.

Depends on what you mean by "appropriate". :shrug

Still playing the standard storyline and got to the part where you escort the Albion to Bridgetown, sail to the secluded beach, and then go to Speightstown and sail away in the French frigate to Port Royale.

It seems the French ships are no longer hostile. Both entering Bridgetown and sailing away from Speightstown I almost hit French ships and there was no hostility. Is it supposed to be this way now? :shrug

Also, the Soliel Royale was not there to blast my ships to splinters.

Was is your personal relation with France? And what starting nation did you choose?
They now only turn hostile if you were Personal or England.

Perhaps we should automatically hoist an English flag before setting sail for the "escape from Speightstown" though?
Otherwise if the squadron isn't hostile to you, it gets rather boring.

Also, the Soliel Royale was not there to blast my ships to splinters.
The Soleil Royal was supposed to be a replacement ship only. Now she really is.
If you capture/sink the Centurion one, THEN she'll show up on the escape scene. But otherwise, the old ship now remains.

My personal relationship with France is -73. It just so happened that at this time Franc e and England happen to be friendly with each other. I choose no nation, but in this case I did fly the English flag but they never recognized me. Since I am normally recognized before I can even see them this is unusual. So I thought maybe it is intentional.

On another note, this whole mutiny thing should be rethought. I just completed the mission to save a barque for the Spanish priest in the Satanist storyline. Sank the 2 ships sat at the tavern in Bridgetown, and were in sight of Puerto Rico when the companion ship mutinied and sailed off. :facepalm I just let it go and sailed on thinking the story was never designed with this scenario in mind, and I was right. When I got to the church the story continued as if nothing had happened.
But there are other companion ship stories and this mutiny thing might mess them up.

If you're flying English colours and England is friendly with France, that would explain why they wouldn't start firing on you.
You play with Random Relations on, do you? That isn't going to help with the story making much sense. o_O

Why would that companion of yours have mutinied though? They don't do it without reason.

But there are other companion ship stories and this mutiny thing might mess them up.
I did mention that potential before. At the time, I thought you said that it was up to the player to avoid causing that to happen.
As I say above though, there must be a reason for the mutiny to occur. So as far as I understand how it works, it should be quite avoidable if you know what you're doing.

Companion mutiny can only occur if:
1. They run out of food; but this will apply to the PLAYER ship first, so that can't be it
2. Morale drops too low

Must have been #2. So what morale did they start out on?
Perhaps they became Treacherous in a battle or something?
Alternatively, what was the reputation of the captain compared to your own?

i thought the morale increases everytime a battle occurs? 'cause that's what's been happening to me. if i notice that morale is getting low, i start going to sea battles.

ahh, and this one:

(Standard Storyline)
..my game keeps crashing after killing the french dude upstairs to get the papers for me to escort the ship.
(attached save and log files) - this is when i'm about to go upstairs and talk out the french dude.

and is this correct? seadogs2_0009.jpg(this this the view when we hid when the french soldiers started looking for us)
and black powder? seadogs2_0000.jpg seadogs2_0006.jpg seadogs2_0008.jpg(never had that before:D) -can be tried using attached save after talk with french dude, this time i bribed him 'cause i have no choice, it crashes after when i try to fight him.

and there are a lot of changes for the standard storyline, i have no chance defeating the two guards when i am to infiltrate oxbay, they've become smarter:onyaxD:facepalm

I never thought to check that barque out. We sank the 2 ships then teleported to the tavern. From there we went to the dock and from there I went straight to the world map because the harbor was clogged with ships. When we dropped out of the world map by Puerto Rico the barque immediately mutinied, turned red, and started shooting. I just continued sailing to San Juan and ignored it. The fleet had 2 months of food and rum and the morale was superior. This makes me not want to do any more escort missions. Maybe I was just lucky that the Albion did not mutiny too.

Davyjack: I have heard about that crash when you kill Berengere. Do you know that you get + rep for bribing him? I always pay him off.

Those two French guards are too good to let you fight your way past them. You need to wait until you get your leadership built up some and then you can talk your way past them.

I think that depends on whether you are successful or not. If you just get your crew slaughtered, don't expect them to like it.

I thought I fixed that YEARS ago! :shock

What difficulty level are you on?

That was an escort ship, was it? Hmm.... It could very well be that escort captains are generated with a random reputation.
So you could get bad rep escort captains who would mutiny on you. How about always generating them with GOOD reputation?
They might still mutiny then, but only if you're a bad guy yourself. So then it'd be your own doing.
Why should a merchant be a "Terror of the High Seas" anyway?

I've got a theory - those mutinies might be the result of no crew supplies (food and rum) on acompanied ships. I've found out that when I accept a job as a merchant escort, all supplies from merchant's ship will transfer in my cargo hold. It happens automatically when I board my ship at the dock, not before. So on the high seas, my crew is very satisfied, living like pigs in the mud, but my customer's crew is starving, thirsty, their morale is going down, which inevitably leads to mutiny. It happened to me yesterday when I escorted one Pinnace from Port Royale to Cartagena. One day before arrival the Pinnace crew mutinied, fortunately mutiny was supressed, but when I moored at Cartagena docks my protege wasn't there to pay my services. Maybe that mutiny was the reason he din't show, but it's not sure at all.

Food and rum consumption is shared between all ships in the fleet.
You could stock one ship with food and rum and have nothing on the others and it would still work.
So that shouldn't be it.

I found the code that generates the companion reputation and it was purely random,
which could potentially cause big discrepancies in reputation between yourself and your companion.
I'm changing it now to only between Rascal and Matey. That should be much easier to deal with.

You have no gunpowder or ammunition, by the looks of it.
I think you have the Ammo Mod off, but that might still confuse the code.

I thought I fixed that YEARS ago! :shock
Holy crap, that code is unstable! I have now changed it to exclude pretty much all the searching and it finally doesn't crash anymore for me.
But it has been proving VERY inconsistent. What crashes one minute, works the next. SO annoying.
Anyway, should be better now.

Ok, so that's not it, but those supplies still stay in my cargo even when I finish the job and merchant leaves my fleet. A cool way to not bother with my crew supplies anymore? :D

Swashbuckler, as always..:aar:duel::guns::pirate41:

So, is this included in the fix from the opening post?

I have not done Vigila Mendez yet. If he mutinies that would break the quest as he has to show up in the store two times.

I just did a pirate hunting job for the French Governor and it worked as advertised.
