Mod Release Build 14 Beta 3 Progress

Enjoying new build so far, encountered no major issues or even crashes yet and successfully playing. One question however.
In each period when you play a specific nation, for example I play Britain in Napoleonic Era, I noticed that my national flag/ensign is completely different on my ship in comparison to others. The RN use the Red Ensign which can be used as personal flag but my ship has the newer RN Ensign. (White with the jack etc). Is there anyway to change the player national flag to match the national ships?

Thanks

There are two national flags: The merchant and the navy ensign. Ships at sea will have these depending on whether they are actually trade or war vessels.
The player always gets the merchant ensign. Unless you get a Letter of Marque and then you switch to the navy ensign.

The British red ensign was the merchant flag back then and still is. The white ensign is the navy one.
You shouldn't be seeing British warships with the red ensign; they should be using white.

Opening Post Updated: Final Update Posted

This new update fixes all previous Beta 3 Test installations to be identical to the Beta 3 Full version that was released yesterday.
Should prevent people from having to download the huge thing again.

Ah thanks for clearing that up Pieter :)

Hopefully my eyes were deceiving me or the ships were indeed merchant ships. I'll check again anyway, possibly start a new game and make sure :p

If you do encounter ship encounters that don't seem right or flags that seem to not match with their ship type, please do say so.
Perhaps some ships that should be navy-only might be enabled for trade encounters too, but shouldn't be.

When you think something is wrong, please post your compile.log, because that will contain a list of the ships in the scene.
Possibly also a screenshot to indicate the one you are referring to.

This would technically be the correct thread for it: http://www.piratesahoy.net/threads/ship-encounter-chances-correction.17815/

I can't download the new installer! :modding :( Clipboard02.jpg

Well, technically it will need updating again. Still running into stuff that needs fixing. :facepalm
But you can get it and I'll post a tiny ZIP-fix later.

Can't wait..:thumbs1

EDIT: This installer and the new fixed update archive(you'll be uploading later:cheeky) is okay with the MAIN FILES we've downloaded before right?

Opening post updated with the small fix-ZIP. This will fix all that was wrong with the original Beta 3 public release and therefore also the update pack.
I'll replace the actual pack too, but that'll take a bit longer.

Ah..uhm.. Clipboard01.jpg Clipboard02.jpg (I think the sails have been swapped..? :wp)

EDIT: How can I change the interface pictures of the ships or rather just swap it?

uhm..This is what I get(even before): seadogs2_0000.jpg("UncursedPearl") seadogs2_0001.jpg("BlackPearl")
i made a little tweak in the InternalSettings.h :cheeky

You're right! Looks like the model descriptions are swapped. :facepalm

It also looks like the interface screenshots both have patched sails. Bit weird, but oh well.... :shrug

Just downloaded and started a new game with Beta 3 full. Went through the start up screen just fine and when I hit start game I got sent back to the main screen.

RUNTIME ERROR - file: sound\alias.c; line: 32
Invalid function call
RUNTIME ERROR - file: sound\alias.c; line: 32
function 'Alias_Init' stack error

Those error messages are normal when you edit the game options before having started a game and don't seem to do any harm.
Being kicked back to the main menu when you press "Start New Game" is quite bizarre though.
Have you tried it again? Anything in system.log or compile.log??? :shock

I have now tried 5 times.

Your system.log says that you are missing stock game files. You pointed the installer EXE to the original game folder, right?
I don't know how that is even possible; it is supposed to give an error message and refuse to install if you point it anywhere that isn't the game folder.
