The line which starts "Having dropped anchor by Greenford's lighthouse" is the last line for the quest "Meet Danielle on Isla Muelle". But you do not have the quest "Free Clement Aurentius by capturing Greenford". So you have not yet told Danielle that you will attack Greenford. Even if you win the battle, you will not advance the story.

Load a saved game from before the battle. Go back to the lighthouse and talk to Danielle. When you talk to her, she should say "I thought you'd see it my way. We'll need some time to plan the assault - it won't be a cakewalk. When we're ready, you can put me and my crew ashore at the lighthouse." You should answer "Why waste time? Let's attack now, before we have a chance to change our minds!"

You must attack Greenford, but only after you have told Danielle. If you do not have the questbook "Free Clement Aurentius by capturing Greenford" then you will not advance the story.

I have not played the unmodified game for a long time! But when I did, I was able to finish the game.

Do you have the questbook "Free Clement Aurentius by capturing Greenford"? If not, you have not yet told her that you are ready to attack the fort. You will need to go to the lighthouse and talk to her again. But first, make sure you have a good sword. You will also probably need some officers. Give them good swords too.

If you do have that questbook, you can attack Greenford fort. If you succeed, Danielle should meet you in the town.
