where are the russian dialogs? I can't find any <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ib012.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cry" border="0" alt="ib012.gif" />
 
Depdning on the format in which the loading screens are I may be able to assist in editing them if someone told me what they mean, and if they could send them to me.
 
Gunner, the loading screens, and all menu buttons and such, are in .tga. Let me find out first that someone else isn't already doing them; if not, I'll send you the images and their translations.

Also, my only disappointment with this thing so far is that it looks like Blaze and Depp are your only character options. A&M made four versions of each texture wearing different types of armor, but not for any other characters. We'd have to add that ourselves.

Translating some dialog as we speak... I'll need to ask some of my Russian mates for a word or two. And I still need to find out if anyone else is translating the image files; otherwise the job is Gunner's.

Now that you mention it, I need to get back to translating some dialogs and stuff. I managed to slack off for a few weeks, sorry. I have those about `25-30`% done.
 
Let me say again that this is a great thing you guys are doing to make this mod available to those of us who do not read or speak Russian!

i can imagine how much work it must be. If it gets too much you could cut down on such things as "grammar" and "spelling" <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> After all, 17th century Carribean pirates may not have been that good at correct English <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate3.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p2" border="0" alt="pirate3.gif" />: , so a few `babelfish-like` dialogs would not look out of place.

Rico - Not much to it, really; the new ships are just variations of the old ones. There's a Merchant Frigate, for instance, then a Light Frigate and a Fortified Frigate... just changes in stats.

And yeah, all I can really do is clean up some Babelfish translations, since my computer can't read the font in the text files but, for some reason, Babelfish recognizes it. Kinda quick and dirty... and much of it repeats existing dialog and descriptions anyway.
 
Ok, I want in on this. Although I'm useless as far as programming goes, I'm somewhat proficient in russian (DLI trained, 47 weeks, 5 days a week, 8 hours a day of RUSSIAN! ..oh and `3-4` hours of homework a night... heh)

To me this looks like one hell of a russian refresher course, and the most fun I'd have with the language. I'll need someone to explain the process you guys are using and send me what needs translated.

This does sound rather fun.. the work that is, I'm looking forward to it.

And I have to agree, the online translation tools suck.. It probably would take more time decyphering their babble than it would just translating it by hand.
