Speaking of polishing up grammar, I'd like a look at the original Russian texts to translate and convey where Babelfish is wanting. Seriously, that thing's such a hack... Anyway, it looks like a lot of people have some text files... could someone send me some?

And Vassal (from a different thread but here you are anyway): You're working on a musket but you don't have a musket.gm file? What is it you have, exactly?

I've been trying to get a copy of Maya 4.5, so I can use the plugin... apparently you don't have it either. I'm trying to search Kazaa for it.

I understand there're also some folks here who will do a conversion for you.

Well, i installed the russian `add-on` on my german version and it´s running too.

So i switched some files and i have a russian version with german interface now, alright.

But were are the russian dialogs? There are only the `c-files`, where are the `h-files`?

I just got a file back from... I dunno if he wants to be public, but his first name is the same as mine <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> and he's conversant in Russian...

At any rate I forwarded the file to him, will take a look at it tomorrow and forward it on to you.

I've got them! I'll send you the one that's been done, then look at these new ones and pass them on.
 
Vassal, mate, I've sent you the completed first file, and passed the rest you sent on to Alan_Smithee (I think that's right <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />: ).

His work is excellent, I just QA'd it a little. A very little. For one thing, I changed 'Nevisa' to 'Nevis', as I think they're referring to the real Caribbean island, which I think is in the mod now as a new map. Is this right?

There are a lot of files yet to do, and if it drags on I'll try to do some Babelfish work of my own, but Alan's understanding of Russian makes a big difference in the quality of the translation.

Vassal, take a nice big drink of the beverage of your choice on me, matey! If this mod comes off, it will be a HUGE development! Cheers on you, and on AlexusB's crew for working on this!
 
I really don't like Babelfish's capabilities all that much, usefull as it is for `rough-rough`-rough work. Since all the Cyrillic in these files just shows as garbledygook, which BF miraculously understands, I'd love it if anyone could find me a program that would understand the characters (I've had no luck there; they must be a weird `super-regionally`-limited font) and transliterate them. That is, would represent Russian words in `English-alphabet` soup. I could give you the most accurate translation that way.

So I've got the whole thing downloaded now from AlexusB and Morgan's website, and I'm browsing their files... There are a lot of images, like loading screens, with text that needs translated. Is someone already working on these? I'm poor with graphics, but I could tell someone what all the labels mean ("CAH YAN" = San Juan, e.g.) if he or she wants to change the text on the graphic into english. Unless someone's already doing this.

So I wonder who else is working on this project, and what's the progress?
 
With all this Russian Mod stuff going on, I'd like to ask a question of the Russian modders - have they been able to add new character MODELS (not skins) into the game?

If so, how did they do it? (THANKS!) <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
 
I haven't noticed any new character models, Cat. But they included some new weapons -- three axes and a shotgun, at least. Maybe some pistols and there's also something that looks like a bowling pin...

There are a few new character skins, like 6 new versions of Danielle. One of them is a snazzy Emma `Peel-style` catsuit...
 
has anyone installed it ?
can they take some sceerns plz , and post it here (i would like 2 see the map of it and some new isle )
