Okay, I have three weeks of doing nothing ahead of me. Since I'm a bit `code-challenged`, I'll work as a `text-smoother`. Just give me a piece of your translated text and I'll fix it up, also don't hesistate to ask me for any russian slang words you don't understand.

I wish I was skilled, well if you need anyone as some sort of overlooker or supervisor to look through things that have been completed and conduct litmus tests for coolness, just ask meh. Heeheh.
 
Well, I'm not really in this, but to me it looks like some sort of coordinator is just what we need. Why don't you email all the people who said they'd help and ask them what they're doing (or want to do), and contact AlexusB, too.

Or is anybody alreday coordinating the translation effort? If so, please post a note here, so others who want to help would know what to do.

I think a lot of the people involved in this have gone away for the holidays - and will be returning (hopefully shortly) to continue.

I got the loading screens, and some miscellaneous images... maybe 1/5 of the way through... um, ought I to censor the "modding team" image, the new version of the Akella Team easter egg but now with all the naked ladies on it?

And speaking of the loading screens, Cat, I hope our results turn out compatible, `quality-wise`... how into it did you get, replacing text? Pretty `nitty-gritty`, or did you drub the Russkie out a bit and cover over the smudge marks with English... like I did?

I used the magic lasso to select all inside the flag, switched levels to the image and darkened that selected section to get the "transparent" look to the flag. I applied a drop shadow to the type.

If the flag was on a mostly dark background I used a lighter ribbon outline, or if it was lighter, the darker as above...

That's why I sent you that flag layer - I thought you could use it the same way. I was HOPING that whomever had made the loading screens from the Russian modders could send me their Photoshop files so I could go from there to change things, but they suggested I take new screenys - so there ya go...

Once you set up the first image, all you need to do is paste another image in on top of the first and easily edit the text to suit the new image. "Loading" stays the same, and it works pretty well... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

If you wish, I can send you the .psd file I used... Or I could just bear down and finish them myself. Ah yes, the entrance to Iowa. That's right on the ol' turnpike. They've really modernized it in recent years, gotta give them Midwesterners credit for that.

I guess that's pretty much what I've been doing, except that I keep the original image, smudge out the Russian text (most of the flags are on a plain blue sky, so that's no trouble), being as `ca-a`-areful as I can to restore the original image behind the letters, if I'm able; then type the new text over that, the original flag. I think it works well enough. For the "loading" bit I cover over the text with a shadowy thing (it's about as big as you do in your screenshot) and type over that, though for some reason I decided to keep the original sentiment, so they all say "Please wait, game loading."

I've been using the banner you sent me for my own `brand-new` screens, and I'm finally learning how to work with layers... `opaque-ing` them, adding drop shadows, all that good stuff. But alpha channels, to make only part of an image invisible, still mystify me.

I *LOVE* Photoshop, have been working with it for YEAAAAARS... Thought I'd never get over losing Aldus Photostyler (what I used to use before Adobe bought them), but Photoshop has grown to include what I loved about Photostyler (and well beyond!), so I have not missed it... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

<b>firemark, </b>I'm going to hazard a guess and say that it's about 85% finished (I hope it's more!). It's difficult to say, because not all the people who started working on this are still here posting actively - they've gone back to school or work, or whatever... We've had many false starts, but are REALLY looking forward to translating this and playing what looks to be an EXCELLENT `Add-on` to PotC!

For me, the new islands are the most exciting!
