Abandoned Swedish Indiaman - Götheborg

This was originally planned to be a Queen Anne's Revenge variant of the Swedish Indiaman by philipjn, but has been changed to be more of a replica of the Swedish Indiaman Götheborg.

As progress continues on this ship, so will updates on this first message as to keep organization.
This will be more than a re-texture of the Swedish Indiaman by Philipjn, but will have some model changes as well.

This will include a Corsair Conversion variant of the ship as well.

Good idea, we could do with a realistic Queen Anne's Revenge as a contrast to the weird-looking thing from the film. :onya For PoTC, add the new interface picture to "shipsTM.tga.tx", which still has plenty of free space. But don't bother with a new icon; very few ships have, or need, distinct icons, and this one can just use the same icon as the regular Swedish East Indiaman.

Creating a "new" ship by retexturing an existing one is almost standard practice! Sometimes it's for variants for different nations, sometimes it isn't. The Mefisto which you'll encounter in the "Early Explorers" and "Spanish Main" periods is just a retexture of the regular fluyt of war, for example.

If you can get the whole thing done in the next week or two, you can enter it into this contest:

Yeah, thanks. I may if I can, but I don't know. I'll likely get it done by Friday I hope. More progress, notice the keel is different, and the ship is more brown too. Well,. the keel is not that different, but it is a bit lighter or darker of a color, anyways its a different texture.

"I recently captured a fine ship, the La Concorde. She be a merchantman of around 30 guns, and can sail so well I can't even tell she used to be a merchantman. Now, I and the lads have taken her to land, added heavier guns, and crewed her with over 300 men. I have named her 'Queen Anne's Revenge' as a show of sympathy to the great Queen Anne and the honest Jacobite cause. We recently ran into a storm on the way to a safe port, we lost some men and our ship was damaged. we need to repair our ship, restock our supplies and hire some men once we make port."
 
This always happens to my game now and locations break and so do other stuff. this happened earlier today, i reinstalled the game, and it happened again.

The new Edward Teach model, ported from ERAS. Ive added new portaits for dis guy too, but sadly when i try to talk to the shipyard owner my game freezes and doesnt die.
 
@Vice Admiral Nelson: can you upload the files for the ship and for Edward Teach?

Looking at that "system.log", the first thing I would say is, don't copy and paste the contents of the file. Use the "Upload a File" button which you'll find next to the "Post Reply" button that you use to post your reply. ;) Also, I've seen lines like this...

... when I tried to copy another CoAS model into PoTC, the main difference being that when I used my model in the game, it crashed when I entered and then left a store. Some character models just won't work in PoTC and this might be one of them.

Or your "options" file might be corrupt. That sometimes happens, causing various types of weirdness. Delete the file, then try again.

Does Teach move correctly? If the model is from ERAS, it's a CoAS model and may not have correct animation files in PoTC. And he certainly won't have a talking head model, which means you'll get a blank square instead of a head when your character goes into self-dialog, e.g. during the "Toff Oremans' Daughter" and "Strange Things Going On in the Caribbean" sidequests.

Yah, it was the character model that broke it at first, along with some changes I did to the ship files. It's completely fixed now though.
 
Looking good! Will you be beefing up the stats too? 2k for a converted merchantmen is too weak
I did make the ship moderately better, so that way it shows it has been upgraded for Corsair use. It ain't too powerful though.

Now I have changed the keel texture to a bit more solid brown, now I think it's much better.

Well, I ain't that good with modeling itself, so maybe, just maybe, one of you guys can add a QAR nameplate on this or tell me how I can actually add it through blender/maya? I don't know how to export this .gm to obj properly, and GM Viewer cant do that right, and I dont know/have maya. I have the perfect nameplate model for the ship, but I cant get it on the ship yet.

I've made the hull mostly the same material, I think this is much better.

Realism, since no one actually knows what the real QAR properly looked like, only that she was a French vessel originally named Concorde, and that she'd likely not look anything like that. There are some sketches of the supposed real QAR. But, I meant yours is from the POTC film, not meant to be a real life replica. Neither is this one, since as I said, we don't know what the real Queen Anne's Revenge properly looked like. But, that POTC film QAR in that picture does have amazing textures, but still, not meant to be a real life replica. That looks like Maelstrom 2.8 graphics, is it?
 
Here is the COAS version of the ship's walk file. Anyone know how I can convert it for POTC?
