Perhaps the game is getting confused because some of the code is still working with ints, even though I changed morale to be a float value.
Extract attached to your main game folder and see if that helps.

If not, please post a savegame prior to hiring that crewmember so I can test it out.

None of the videos I have made worked out. Always something messes up.

I got the Arcadia! It sure is colorful. Why is the stern so high? There must be some reason for it. Now to find out if it makes a good escort ship.

It seems women do not like getting their lights punched out. First they cower and then they just wander aimlessly. I had to give this one a time out before she started behaving normally again.

I think that is just because women don't have the "sit" animation.

When you encounter a battle fleet it can happen that there are a lot of 1st rate ships.

Yeah random. Have no idea, I was testing something on a 2.3 version. :wp

Yes, but I expected 1-2 mixed with warships..It wasn't very convenient, kind of were hanging over me....and the bass sound everywhere..;)
 
Oh, Beta 2.3, eh? Indeed the Soleil Royal might have been the only Tier 1 ship available for France in that time period.
And in that older version, when you encounter a battle fleet, it would consist of ONLY Tier 1 ships.
That's why for Beta 3 that has been changed so a battle fleet consists of tier 1-3 ships. So that shouldn't happen anymore. :no
