Pirate Film Music

Hello Pieter,
Thanks for posting the tracks and titles. I tried to download them - but was not successful. You mentioned extracting the music from the game. Which file has it? I really don't like messing around with the files, especially when I am not familiar with doing that stuff. I assume that I could make a copy of the music file and then paste it in a different location, and then extract it without affecting the game?

No need to reply. I was able to use Real Player to download the tracks. I always wanted a CD of this music to play in my living room. There is a posting on YouTube with 28 tracks - but there is some severe distortion in some of the tracks, especially Sailing 1. Thanks for posting this Pieter.

You should be able to download them easily by right-clicking and pressing Save As.

The files are in RESOUCE\Sounds\MUSIC and saved as .ogg files.
Those can be converted with many programs such as Bonk Audio Converter.
That's what I did.

Not entirely sure why my upload has less tracks than that YouTube thing you mention.
I may have left out some unremarkable tracks.
Also in the game itself there are sometimes sort and long versions of the same track. I only kept the full ones.

Hi Pieter,

I don't have an answer for the difference in track numbers. The YouTube posting has a Russian (?) cover. There is not any difference in time between what you posted, and what is on YouTube. Was there ever a commercial release of the Soundtrack? I have never seen it.

Thank you for the information. I right clicked, and was given the option to download your tracks. That's what I did, and Real player kicked in. At first I tried Freemake downloader - and had no luck. I noticed there was also a posting of the Sea Dogs 1 OST. In fact there are two versions:

1. has a lot of content, but the up loader cut the songs off towards the end (for some reason).
2. runs only for 31 minutes.

I don't have that game, and can see that it is going for major $$$$ on Amazon. It seems as though Yuri was very busy composer. He certainly is good!

Thank you once again Pieter. There are a lot of Americans who could learn much from you. You've been so kind and willing to help with your time in info, and as is the case here in the United States - most people are only looking at how a situation can benefit them. What kind of time difference do we have? Right now (as I type), it is Sunday evening 10:24 pm. Thanks for the music - it sounds great!

I made two installs of POTC 2003 - once with mod and one without. I'm running 3 different mods with Rome 1 at the present = 58 BC Caesar Imperator, SPQR 8.0, and Darthmod. When you add the vanilla game, that's four versions in all.

Thanks Mate!

Sea Dogs and Agree of Parts both got a commercial soundtrack release.
But PotC never did for some reason. There's some good music there though.
I especially like the sea battle tracks.

Good evening!

Crikey! That's an extensive and well researched list! Well done!
I certainly can't think of anything to add at this point.
As a matter of interest, what is Bruce Broughton's Master of Ballantrae like? I think he's a splendid composer! His Young Sherlock Holmes score is beautiful!
Ooh I just thought of something that might be worth including - The Adventures of Don Juan by Max Steiner.
It has a grand old swashbuckling vibe, and was also incorporated merrily into Dave Grusin's score to The Goonies.

Cheers! I have MP3s of all of everything I posted, so if you're curious about any, feel free to let me know. :doff

I think some of the stuff I have is fairly rare(ish).

He's indeed written quite a lot of good music!

I really like the main theme from Master of Ballantrae. It has got bagpipes and everything! :cheeky
It could do with a rerecording though. Sound quality isn't so good.

Ah, I forgot about that one because I only have a few rerecorded tracks on the "Swordsmen of the Silver Screen" album.

And The Goonies counts too. List updated with both.

Ah yes, of course! I have a suite from that one. LOTS of fun! :woot

Also:
Henri Mancini, The White Dawn
Franz Waxman, Captain Courageous
Morton Gould, Windjammer
John du Prez, The Crimson Permanent Assurance

They mention a June 21 date. That's already soon! :shock

Have a look at that link I posted to for whatever details are known now.
The announcement is basically brand new as per today, so not a whole lot known just yet.

Dammit, you beat me to it! I can't order until I'm near my computer, so I'm a few days behind.

Anyway, I'm very excited to finally hear those last missing bits of music.
I recall them being quite nice additions from the Movie.

Interesting, I thought this was exactly the same as the Prometheus release which you already had, but just with remastered sound.
