Modders in the Game

I noticed elsewhere that I was in the Devlin quest? I think that until the American town is updated and an American quest is added that you can leave me out to save space... unless you already had me planned to do something in the Devlin quest?

And yes... Alan Smithee... heh heh heh... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

And how about adding a "Short Jack Gold" character as well? You hardly occupy any space. It's more work to take you out than to leave you in, I should think. And it's fun. Try the Devlin quest, choose Sir Christopher Mings as the person to help you and check it out for yourself. It's short, but it's fun. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Too bad POTC doesn't have multiplayer mode ..<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->We are having enough trouble with Pieter swimming with Beatrice... I hope that one day, we'll learn enough code and break open the engine... to make a multilpayer. I could be primative at first: simply an ocean with player's ships on it, but I'd hope we could eventually add stuff like the ability to choose weather, location, land mass, etc.

But I'd bet that if we ever managed to add multiplayer, it would be B20 or something. :p
But you never know... we've added some stuff to the B14 WIP that we never thought possible... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Actually, with so many unique looking characters I was able to add to the game, I was able to sneak my ugly mug into the game on one of them.
No one knows where ... and it doesn't have as much gray as in real life so doesn't look like these.

Petros with a parrot as the guy in Catalina´s sneaky mod perhaps? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

And another hearty "nice to see you, Petros!" in this thread as well. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Some very cool stuff here. Nice to see so many of our modders getting a place in Pirates Ahoy/Build Mod History!

I'm so egoistic I've already put JRH into my own quest. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="8)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

Hey, Short Jack Gold! How are you doing with all your quest-work?
I don't recall you release anything since I left, which was 4,5 months ago. Any news? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

As to the quests, I have progressed a fair way and been adding some corrections on the way as found, such as Hook's latest, etc.
The main progress being with Jack Sparrow's quest(s). My current problem is with the "storm to Davy Jones" bit.
It just won't perform correctly, so I am working on that.
I have added a lot of the modders to one of the "main quest" options and fitted Clint Eastwood in another. There are now traps and "blind alleys" but I have these commented in the code so that other modders can look to see if they have hit a bug or miss-played the game. I hope that this will take some of the frustration away in the future.
I also need to expand the Quest Book (for hints and reminders as to where the player is in the game) but again the Quest Book itself is not performing completely correctly. I am working on that too. [One quest tends to cancel out another <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> ]
Assuming I can clear these issues, then I think I will be able to upload something playable for everyone to comment on.
As I have mentioned before, I am using a "modofied" Maximus Pirate KK version, but in general it does seem fairly stable.
Hope that helps.

That questbook problem is not something you should have to fix.
Probably/hopefully Pirate_KK would be able to do something about that.
What do you mean by "the storm just won't perform correctly"?
What do you want and what does it do?

And thanks for your welcome. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

What do you want and what does it do?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->It's probably a typo on my part - I copied the original - "as you leave Oxbay, storm starts, and you end up on beach with Davy" code into my game - but right now the storm start doesn't always start when I want.
As I said, probably a typo on my part.

What exactly does happen?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->On "Map Enter" storm sequence starts as expected and runs video through O.K., but then ship is returned to the Map and the actual talk with Davy (quest relocation) does not occur until the player docks or lands at another island (i.e. go to shore).
It is something to do with where I have the DoQuestReloadToLocation command, I think.

I am looking at it again again.

But that is always the case, right?
Not <i>some</i> times it will work right and then some times it won't.
Should be solvable if you find the exact way the call in the main quest works.

and does put me to the correct island eventually, after the second dock or land.
