Black Pearl and QAR Progress

Ok I'm close to being done with the Revenge. I need to do the figurehead, those grey things on the sides, the anchors, the helm, and when Armada makes those special surfaces for me - the skeletons on the bow and stern.

But here's what I've done so far on the bow and stern. I need to enhance those curtains somehow. They're way to flat. they need some ripples.

Note: The stern window was textured with the actual stern window of the real ship.

Can't see too much of the detail sadly since it's dark from this side.

Could you send me a UV guide like you did for the QAR? Since that's the only way I'll know how you re-did things.

The belfry looks great! :onya Could you send me a UV guide like you did for the QAR? Since that's the only way I'll know how you re-did things.
I'll get you one for the hull, yes. I actually didn't mess with the hull's UVs much anyway, since I just fixed the stern window and a couple of other minor errors.
This won't include the helm or the belfry, since they're separate components with their own textures.
Feel free to adjust either of them, but you must rename the belfry texture if you change it. Currently it uses another shared texture.

to armada wat is the name of the clock textur?
By 'clock' you mean 'bell', don't you (that's what 'die glocke' means in English). ;)
The texture is shared with other ships, so I don't recommend editing it. Leave that to Legendary_Spider, who can modify it if necessary.

Be careful doing that; the cabin wasn't modelled, so you'll just see an empty gap through the glass. Better to keep it opaque, I'd say.


Can I just make this very clear to everyone: there is no competition to make the textures for these ships.
Legendary_Spider is the one making the official textures, using my modified hull files.
Any textures other people make might not be compatible with any modifications I make to the hull, so I recommend letting LS do the work.
There's no need to have loads of textures of the same ship. :no You CAN, however, post pictures or parts of textures which you think might help him.

Exactly. I realize your desire to want to have transparent glass, but you have to keep in mind that the Revenge does not actually have a built cabin like the Pearl does. Maybe in the future, some modeler could make one, but as of now, it's just an empty space. I think it would be better to have non-transparent windows until a future date when someone makes a cabin for the Revenge.

xXx3, if you'd like, you could post your textures for me to look at. There's actually a couple areas of your texture that I liked that I could use for the official one. I'm particularly interested in the railing around the captain's cabin, the cabin doors, and your figurehead coloration. If you send me those, I'll be sure to credit you for your contributions.

I'm gonna re-do my the gold trim. When I was doing the sails, I figured out a nice effective way to add grime to the ship using one of the brushes.

you know already hows getting the people when new ships and new textures apear:D

I don't think a cabin would be a good idea, considering how many polygons the ship already has. I know we want high detail, but some sacrifices have to be made for what counts the most.

Regarding the textures (or any part of the ships), everyone who contributes to them will be credited in the feature list of the patch the ships eventually join. ;)

Well if you show enough interest, and desire to work on the game and passion for it, the modders will eventually add you to the group.

To add to that, you ideally need to be actively helping out with something. That can mean testing new releases or contributing ideas on the forums.
We've even had members join the Modders group just because they've been loyal testers for the game! :dance

actualy im working to fix the light problem for aop
im always asking with what can i help but manytimes nobody responds me
ive helped a couple of people to add the new ships on aop.....:urgh
i hope thet means something
 
But the ship has already condemned many polys and I know it pleases nobody
But it would be easy to build for me a QAR with less polys still many details to
I have plans of the ship and many photos and do not need long
they see the model on which I've built

Webstarmaier, I know you're trying to help, but we really don't need another QAR model to replace the already excellent one that we have.
Like I said, you can contribute parts of the model or the textures, but trying to rebuild the model yourself is a bit much.
If you're that good with making 3D ship models, maybe you could consider making historical ships for either of the games (e.g. the real QAR). :shrug
