32 gun frigate WIP

Looks like a nice ship to me. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
 
Had not much do at work today, so I decided to learn how to UVmap a ship and here´s the result <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> (the textures of the hull and whales are just a placeholders)

hey Bava, are you UV tiling? if so that could be a issue, I use a mix on my ships, for some reason hull damage wont be taken if you uv tile the hull. so I map the hull and decks, all the other stuff I tile. its weird and annoying. because it limits us in how we texture. In potbs The models are all tiled. So you can use smaller textures and really bring out the wood grain. I have a few ideas we could test out if you did tile. its no biggie. Your doing great! We also need to plan ahead for what games she will be running in. Potc and AOP. AOP has some lighting benefits we have to setup for. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />
 
Ok, I had to look up "tiling" (UV map layout larger the the actual picture? it sucks to be noob <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />. ), but it seems its the technique I used. Blimey.

As for the games, PotC has priority, of course, but I could make two versions if the changes aren´t too time intensive.

don't sweat the tiling. as I said there are workarounds. I have some wood grain textures that you could use to tile. I am looking forward to getting her rigged.

the facts that he's american and his name would be two reasonable hints, i'd think. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

dark brown one looks best, i'd think. and i always like loads of ornaments, as long as it's not overdone.
 
Bava and I were up pretty later last night, <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/buds.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":drunk" border="0" alt="buds.gif" /> I gave him my texture collection. So he spent a good part of the night applying them. let me tell ya, I can't wait to see where his progress is today. It was so much fun, I do hope he got some sleep. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> .
 
Not much progress, I´m afraid, RL reared its ugly head and I had to prepare a lot of stuff for work (sometimes it sucks to be self - employed <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />k ). Only thing I did was changing the geometry a bit and correcting some mesh errors so uvmapping should be easier now. But I cant t wait to fool around with all the great textures Inzane gave to me. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Hm, any idea would could/should be added (or removed)?
 
err..... you'd really have to look at other ships for that, i'm afraid. that really isn't my terrain, as you might have noticed from my drawings.
