32 gun frigate WIP

I'm sure Keith will add them again at some point. Fixing forums isn't a two-second job, I suppose. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Reminds me of an old song title from the sixties <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

EDIT: Updated my OP with new WIP pics <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Not true, Chris, as far as I know Kazeite´s Black Pearl was the first entirely new ship that came without any major problems ingame and that was one year ago.

<!--QuoteBegin-v_Grimmelshausen+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (v_Grimmelshausen)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Since when are we able to do that?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Well, we should be able to do it, now that we got the proper tools from Akella <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

<!--QuoteBegin-Darth-me+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Darth-me)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->when this is done, could I please use it for the Indefatigable?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I´m not sure what you mean, the Indefatigable was a two decker with 62 cannons, so this ship wouldn´t be a proper replacement.

Thanks for the nice comments, mateys

darth, please don´t get me wrong, you can use her for whatever you want, but if you want a ship that resembles the Indefatigable, a second -or first rate would be far more appropriate ^^

Oh, and Commodore John Paul Jones, your help is needed for the paint job , IIRC you posted a list with colour schemes for
the Royal Navy, french and dutch ships but I can´t find it anymore. I intend to give her a french look (red with a dark brown hull, yummi), but I have no idea how the whales, trims, gunports should be painted.

EDIT: first post updated, criticism and suggestions appreciated <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Make her a British frigate, If you make it french, people will only send it too davy jones locker. Don't want that to happen do you <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

With only 11 guns per broadside I doubt she´ll be more than cannon fodder for the most people anyway <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

And you´re prolly right with the french/british thing, but ....but...I really like the red/black colour scheme...^^
Okay, how about this: she was a british ship, got captured and a new paint by the french and then the Brits captured her again. That way we all would be happy <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />

except the poor s.o.b who has to do two different textures. Oh well, at least I have way more experience with Gimp than with Blender, so making a decent texture should be less frustrating than modeling <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Yeah, just like they do with my galleons.

well, galleons are tough. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> i usually prefer to take and sell them, or, if it's a war galleon, keep it altogether. those things can take one heck of a pounding, despite the fact that they're pretty hard to miss anyway. and i always enjoy a high poop deck. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />)

Why do you think they pound your Galleons Petros, you keep saying it, but I never actually read someone doing that or saw someone doing it. But I DO hear people who use them. Meself always try to capture them, I only sink the stock galleons.

well, the main reason is that galleons are bloody slow. they're largely of no use, so you don't keep them. however, war galleons are pretty fast, so they're not a bad ship. in fact, if not for their low maneuvrability, they'd almost be as good as a frigate.

Hm, I have some decent plans for a 18 gun fast galleon (built in the 1660´s IIRC) and its a <i>really</i> beautifull ship, problem is
that right now implementing such a ship doesn´t make much sense gameplay-wise, players can get frigates and lineships way too fast, making the classes between sloops and corvettes rather superfluous.

But if there´s enough interest, I´m gonna try to model said ship after I´ve finished this one (in march or april or so <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> )
