They're people that stand at the front of each store and say "Good Morning", "Happy Holidays", etc. Sometimes, they're quite rude. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Sometimes, they even sing. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

P.S. Typing in "wal-mart greeter" on Photobucket got me more than I bargained for. As in "Why haven't they taken HER down yet?!" kind of bargained for. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

There was a Wal-Mart greeter that was crushed to death during the holidays by an unruly crowd of barbarians who were fighting to be the first ones in after he opened the doors. This happened in a Wal-Mart not too far from me.

I think it was a storewide sale. I know the guy died (he was only in his 30s) from his injuries and that they had the cops posted at the store the next day. It was insane.

I've been in one of those crowds before. The trample heard 'round the world, huh? Poor guy. Those bargain shoppers can resemble a runaway herd of buffalo sometimes.
 
Ever been inside a store looking out at them? I've seen people being interviewed on the news while the store they're in is getting ready to open, and customers outside are yelling, swearing, and pounding on the doors to get in.
