okay, wierdness of today: Ravian got tackle-hugged by Vito. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> i was just talking to Ravian when Vito goes FLYING past and i'm suddenly talking to the air. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

more of a wacko. he's either really depressed or bloody annoying. funny that you mention it though. with me the sailor Vito Dumas usually comes to mind. it really did look funny though. he was going slightly faster than he thought and literally flew past, tackling Ravian in mid-air. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> the only thing missing was a sniper trying to hit Ravian and you'd have a movie scene.

the gatling cannon is starting to ever more complicated, but everything still works. problem is, it's getting heavier too, and i'm not sure if the engine i fitted can handle the torque. anyway, i've installed the main driveshaft, the engine as i already said, the air tank for the pneumatic system controlling the anti-recoil system and the gun angle, the airpump, the two cylinders controlling the gun angle, the two air regulators, the control cabin, and most of the pneumatic pipework. the cylinders controlling the gun tilt work reasonably well. the right cylinder is a little ceased up, so it's not as fast as the one on the left. but that'll fix itself. the pipework is pretty neatly tucked away. by now you can hardly see the inner workings of the thing because of all the components. and that's without any decorative pieces. the middle right leg broke down though, which i fixed.

i think i've made some progress! after telling our group about my plans for finding a drawing place, Julia suggested the art club she's in. i'll give it a shot.

ooh, i love praetorians. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> i completely slaughtered a whole horde of helvetii without a single lost unit. i had the huge advantage of a very long hill with only one accessable side. five cohorts of archers truly massacred them before they even reached me.

once you get the game, there's one thing that's definately worth trying:
if you detect a hostile unit of archers, get a single unit of legionares. put them in turtle formation, and send them at the archers. break up formation just before you engage in melee. your soldiers will then throw their pilums and engage in hand-to-hand combat. it's very effective, and the coordination of the attack just looks awesome.
