Well, the EB Games here still takes trade-ins for old PC games, so I thought I'd get rid of some of mine. Turned out, they give you store credit rather than cash, and not much per game at that. I seen they had what I thought were a few games left (they really are discontinuing PC games at this store), so I went ahead and traded my old ones in before I went and looked at their stock - that was a BAD idea! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

It turned out they only had ten games left:

-the original Battlefield collection (got that ages ago)
-two shitty EA Sports games
-a couple of crappy budget titles
-Gears of War (won't work on here)
-Assassin's Creed (also won't work on here)
-Two Worlds (would've bought it, but they still want 50 dollars for it, even though it's been out for about a year)
-Half-Life 2 (I've already experienced the joyous craptacular that is Steam, so no way in hell was I buying that!)

...and then, the thing I bought: *shudder* My Horse and Me *shudder*

It was that or see my money go down the drain by not spending it - the sad thing is, I've spent more time playing it than I ever did playing my...uh..."complimentary" copy of Two Worlds. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" />

i hate it when that happens. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> too bad the two best games don't work. but i'm used to that.

GOD i love those necromancers! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> 1800 skeleton warriors and still counting! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> i haven't met a single enemy yet of which i couldn't wipe out one of his unit stacks in a single swipe from one of mine. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> no way i'm going to split up my army into two. this is way too much fun. i also have 174 vampire lords, which are technically immortal now. you see, the damage they do get's added to their own health, which also invloves resurrecting any vampire lords that fell during the battle. they're unstoppable!

I got used to having the computer outclassed for new games back when I still had 512MB of RAM and the Geforce 4, but it looks like I'll have to get used to that happening all over again. Oh well.

I've actually played Gears of War on this machine, but it doesn't like to run the game - and of what I seen of it, I wouldn't buy it anyways <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="no.gif" /> . Assassin's Creed is a whole different story <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> - if it worked on here, I definately would have bought it.

Back to knocking down little plastic poles <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Why the hell do they have to time showjumpers anyways? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> I'd try the game you're playing, but I've maxed out on HD space yet again. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

what's so cool about the HoMM 3 necromancers is that they raise a percentage of the defeated enemies as skeletons or skeleton warriors. the longer you play, the stronger you get. after a while you'll get at least 200 skeleton warriors after each battle, while your town can only produce 30 a week. i also like their dread knights. they look almost exactly the same as the witch king from LotR, on a horse like you see in the first movie, but in full battle armor. they rule the battlefield.

HoMM 3 is 2D though. it's from 1999. still, combat graphics are pretty nifty, with very nicely detailed units. even your hero has animations when you make a good move, get your ass kicked, or cast a spell. each creature has a seperate animation for everything: defending, attacking, moving, dying, and spellcasting, and there's more than 60 creatures total. they really put a lot of work into this game. i still haven't played every map, but then there's two expansions which more than triples the amount of available maps. that's more than 150! there's even a map editor, and the expansions come with a random map generator. you're never finished with the game.

Of course! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Making killed persons or monsters to zombies or skeletons is indeed cool.. cooler than summoning them. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> Gothic games are modable enough to add this nice feat. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" /> Well.. not so nice actually. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> Only bad thing is that modding Gothic is a pain in the ass because you need german tools which I don't understand and the second thing is.. it messes up yer game to ground zero if something goes wrong. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ko.gif" />

I wish that modding Gothic would be same easy as modding PotC.

you know, when the estimated damage says 9K - 25K, you know you're doing <i>something</i> right! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> at the end of the game i had almost <!--sizeo:4--><span style="font-size:14pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->5000<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec--> skeleton warriors. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> the second largest stack of the army consisted of more than 200 zombies. that's quite a gap. those skellies killed 99 manticores in a single hit! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> that's a level 1 against a level 6! i never even had such an amount of level 6 units. better still, as i had two rampart fortresses, i managed to create a technically even bigger second army. i spent the last month of the game camping in front of the last enemy fort. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> he didn't even dare to move! i was actually just waiting to capture the grail and finish the game that way, but it was funny to watch. after a while i found myself going "it's the power, yes, THE POWER! IT'S THE ONLY TIME I FEEL ALIIIIIIIIVE!" <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> in case you where wondering, that's a 8-bit theatre black mage quote.

Same rule goes to Gothic about those skeletons. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> When they are in masses then even the fire magicians and paladins can't stand against them. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/24.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="24.gif" /> There's only TWO things what will kill all those masses with a single hit: Wave of Death spell and Rain of Fire spell. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
